"The first 10-15 games is going to be interesting to say the least. You never know which of the new players will click but have to hope a lot of them do and as a team we quickly make keeping possession second nature. The mistakes in possession at the back have to end and players getting caught out of position when teams counter seem to be our problem just now. Ok only pre season but our CBs have been guilty of allowing forwards to get in behind them and Emerson and Coufal guilty of not closing quick enough. We are obviously going to be a pressing team but it can take a while to do it automatically and gave everyone at it. If the whole team dont do it as one we will get done easily on the counter. We hear that Todibo was excellent at Nice in the divisions best defence. How much was it him and how much his team mates. Im hoping he becomes to us like Van Dyke did at Liverpool when he arrived. He transformed their leaky back 4. Perhaps this Dominguez free transfer ends up being a difference maker too. Seems to one that goes unnoticed but very efficient and comfortable on the ball. Think Somerville will blow hot and cold but again hope its more if the former. Wan Bissaka, assuming he does sign, should plug our RB area where the very quick wide men have been tearing Coufal a new one at times. Only early doubt I have is Fullkrug. No pace whatsoever so we are going to need to provide him good service with accurate crosses into the box etc. Still think we need a quick forward in the squad? Cannot see a starting spot for Coufal obviously but also Ings, Soucek and JWP. And anyway, would rather see Earthy and Potts and youths as the “go to” subs by end of the season assuming they can step up. Would mean Loppetegui really can develop and use young players. One of the few ways nowadays for us fans to feel more connected to West Ham when one or two or the yoofs come thru. Anyway, tough 5 opening fixtures so we are going to have to click as a team pretty quick to get a few points on the board early doors. Even if we dont get a stack of points, if we can see us giving teams a proper game including the rich teams, and see improvement and progression, patience should hopefully hold. :-)"

"Good news if true. Similar to when Moyes started and he had the players working heavily on fitness, and issued Arnautovic with the “if you don’t run you don’t play” ultimatum. Unsurprisingly that approach is not something that you can do consistently and expect the players to react to it. Hopefully JL will be a bit more progressive and allow the team to develop rather than sticking to the same tactics in nearly every hand."

I've been told the players are quite surprised how strict the new manager is and are finding the new training regime a lot tougher which is good to hear as a fan

That Dharmesh geezer saying late “red tape” hold up on Wan Bassaka at the United ejd so he is still waiting to travel for his medical etc The Mancs have a pretty awful reputation for dealing with and love a last minute “fast one” to get a better deal allegedly? All these rich 5 or so clubs who got a big head start on the rest before FFP etc kicked in will do everything they can to keep the “wannabe” clubs at bay. No wonder they wanted their super league Lets hope its all just administrative and not another Maguire like event where they moved goal posts left right and centre

"Interesting to see who might still be coming in. Obviously if Aguerd goes that would just leave three senior CBs so he would need replacing. I can't imagine we're looking for another midfielder. We currently have all these competing for three places in midfield: Paqueta Alvarez Rodriguez Kudus (can also play in the front three) JWP Soucek Irving Potts Orford Earthy I think the two youngsters at the bottom of the list should really go out on loan and even if one of Soucek or JWP goes, we're well covered. So, as others have said, that just leaves striker (which will surely be the ultimate message to Ings that he has to go) and LB, which seems a little bit harsh on Cresswell, but maybe I'm just being a bit sentimental about that."

I would like to see Socuek stay. I feel he has a big role to play for us this year coming off the bench in both boxes.

Agree that we definitely need a new striker and left back and to grt rid of Ings and Antonio. I'd keep Soucek and JWP as back up squad players.

"That’s where I’d go if we’re getting 2 more. Striker & left back, I don’t understand if we’re doing all this why Cresswell was given a new deal tbh. I’d happily flog Ings & Antonio if it meant getting Duran in. Duran, Fullkrug & emergency Bowen up top would do for the season."

"Only areas of weakness squad wise, and this is sounding like a spoilt brat after such an impressive series of signings. Is the striker area and depth at LB. Antonio still our only striker with pace at 34 years old. How the German shapes up is going to be interesting. From his brief cameo yesterday, he will be anonymous unless he gets service to his head and feet. I read, like Kane, he comes deeper too to feature in built up play but still think we need a player who can run the channels and is both quick and strong. Left back still needs better backup than Cresswell Imo too. Agree with others that Soucek and JWP need to be moved on if, as we expect, they dont want to be squad back up or subs mist games. Anyway, lets see how we go and which of the additions work or struggle because 8 or 9 coming in? Unlikely all of them will work out but have to hope most of them do. Mavrapanos is an arguably an example of a Steidten pick who has not convinced? He has had some good solid performances and did ok yesterday but still gives a chance or two away every game. Finally, having watched Aguerd in pre season games and for a couple of seasons, its my opinion that he cant cut it in the Premier League. Definitely not as a CB but even as LB cover. Close control and passing not quick or accurate enough for me. He has a decent long diagonal pass on him but we will be playing far less of them under Loppy. But even if the above / perceived gapsare not addressed, its hard to complain about tye window. Main areas of weakness addressed on paper and before the season starts. Loppy has the tools so now down to him to make them work. Assess at Xmas though as it might be a stuttering start based onthe eay fixtures"
