Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
"Just finished The Killing liked it a lot but not really the last season as much. Breaking Bad, Homeland done Was going to do Luther or The Wire next - can you tell me which one is best of the two?"
Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
"Oh, and watched S2 of True Detective. Nowhere near as bad as the critics made out. OK, it has its flaws which to me are not dissimilar to those of the first season, just without the benefit of the whole Southern Gothic thing (difficult to match for atmosphere or imagery), the two brilliant leads and their characters. Still worth watching, though, I thought. Watched a few episodes of Mr Robot but I'm OUT. Started well but has fallen into self indulgence."

"I was giving Ray Donovan the benefit of the doubt, the prior seasons having been so brilliant, but having just watched E5 of S4, I think it's safe to say it's really gone downhill. Talk about losing the plot. Really disappointing and just shows that it's always better to go too early rather than too late."

"19-2 A Canadian police show which is gritty, realistic and quite shocking at times. Originally in French, but remade with a new cast in English. Been watching the English version. Series 2 starts with a 18 minute scene of a high school mass shooting, all done with one camera in one shot. No cuts. One of the best bits of filmmaking I've seen on TV."

Did the whole of Stranger Things over the weekend. Only 8 episodes. Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to series two.

"Has anyone started Donovan season 4? It's gone downhill IMO, the usual 'they seem to be running out of ideas' springs to mind. Maybe time to wrap it up."

"Veep and Silicon Valley recently ended their seasons. Both good, at least semi-intelligent comedies if you are looking for something new. (Veep is going to have to go in a strange direction next though)"

Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
Both of these multi-episode documentaries have been mentioned favourably in dispatches on here before but I have recently watched and really enjoyed: - The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst - Making a Murderer Preacher and Outcast are worth watching although I suspect the latter might become a bit repetitive as it goes on (how many exorcisms can you have in one series?).
