"Cheers Ilford, was looking for that last week. FUCKING MAGNIFICENT PROGRAMME. Crazy reading that, that the original writer of the book lives with round the clock police protection to protect him from the real crime bosses who want his head!"

"Not sure if this should be on the docs thread or this box set, probably both Check out The Keepers on Netflix Harrowing tale of Catholic child abuse and murder, with a healthy dollop of police colusion and church cover up. Gripping stuff!"

Miike. I like that episode too- especially when she kicks that henchman so hard in the bollocks that his spine shoots out. I want to see more of Gillian Anderson as Lucille Ball. She made me get that funny feeling that I used to have climbing up a rope in PE at junior school.

"Lee Trundle 3:18 Wed May 31 Looked it up after being confused by him being different and apparently he was sacked during filming of series 2, as he was basically fucking hated by most people, especially one of the main writers. English chap he is!"

"American Gods is alright but I'm finding it a bit plot light, and very style over substance. I think the best episode so far was the one featuring his dead wife coming back to life. also, anything with Stormare in it is watchable"

"This won't interest a lot of you attention deficit disordered types but the best 'box-set' is something most of you have paid for already, Versailles, available on iPlayer. Unbelievable really that the French put up some of the money (along with several other countries) without insisting on it being in French with English subtitles. They even let them (sumptuously) film a lot of it actually at Versailles. It's full of tits and arses, people getting decapitated and their eyes burnt out and even the King's poofy brother and his lover (Dougal from The Magic Roundabout) are funny. It's got a brilliant 5.1 score too for those of you who have surround sound- a mix of classical and electronica. I'm also watching (as you're asking) the latest series of Better Call Saul which I think is better in every way than Breaking Bad. It's TV that is not afraid to take things slowly and tells the tale of how the two best Breaking Bad characters (Mike and Saul) got to be the people they are when Breaking Bad started. Fucking clever and brilliantly acted. weirdly, considering I'd rather sit on a rusty nail than sit through science-fantasy or comic-book films, American Gods is my favourite show currently on TV. I've never seen anything like it and it's almost impossible to explain it without making it sound awful. Again, it's got an amazing surround-sound score and looks like it had the budget of any super-expensive Hollywood film."

Funnily enough I just started the second series last night also. I wonder if the original actor who plays the Kenyan guy sacked it off after reading what he had to do in the first episode!

I really enjoyed Miike's documentary about the Yakuza entitled Dead or Alive. The gritty realism sets it apart from such fanciful media like Fargo.

"You do realise that this is entertainment, not a documentary Miike? Yeah, you're right, the events on the first three series of Fargo literally happen to me every day of the week, how silly I was for thinking it might be a bit far fetched....."

"Trevor, you don't think the way Spacey manipulates his way up the ladder in ultra quick time isn't far fetched? it's comedic at best, but it is enjoyable. what's far fetched about Fargo?"
