Two more complaints: 1) why is everything so dark? Often I can't make out what's going on in a scene. 2) that modern film-making trope of having a character who is using a torch shine it DIRECTLY into the camera lens. Absolutely infuriates me even time.

I'm the same these days. Got so used to it now that if I can't get subtitles for something then I probably won't bother watching.

"I much prefer subtitles, so thanks for that tip, Nagel. I didn't know that. These days I have to put the subtitles on modern English-speaking series and films. I'm not sure why that is. I think it is either poor sound mixing/music too loud or modern actors mumbling their lines. When I watch programmes and films from the 90s and older, I don't need subtitles. I think a lot of it is the actors. I watched a series of Line of Duty with Thandie Newton. I could fully understand every syllable she uttered, but the rest of the cast were mumbly buggers."

"ray winstone 12:09 Wed Jul 7 Subtitles are available for it as well. They've just made what is apparently an awful dub the default setting. They do that for quite a lot of shows on Netflix now, at least ones that they produce themselves."

We’re watching the serpent on Netflix. 3 episodes in so far it’s good. Few tense scenes.

"Undercover on Netflix is worth a watch, Belgian /Dutch production but they've dubbed the speech rather than have subtitles."

"Just half way through season 6 of Spiral, getting a bit weary now but still enjoyable, but they seem to be getting more incompetent, fucking up every raid, stakeout that they do! From comments below going to give Bosch a go."

"Although not really a box set, I've just watched La Revolution Francais, pt 1. Pretty good. Much like Charles I, the dolt Louis Capet got himself killed from a position where most of his opponents would have been happy with a constitutional monarchy with him as king. (Although he doesn't get topped until part 2)"

"Finished MOE. Yes it's good, and Winslet is very good, but it's not off the charts good and won't exactly live long in the memory. Also seemed to be too many characters and sub plots for my liking, and found the never ending families squabbling to be irritating, but I suppose some would call this 'real life' and 'gritty' and was required for the bigger picture, for the want of a better phrase, but I thought it was all a bit ott, as there was enough going on with the 2 main story lines already. 7/10"

"Swiss - You have been on here for years and yet you are STILL trying to impress posters, or even worse looking for a bite. No matter how you spin it that is fucking tragic, and says a hell of a lot more about you than anyone else. Really is time that you had a serious word, fella, OR just admit defeat and fuck off for good?"
