Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
"The best film with a war based script is The Deerhunter.,an absolute classic. Although portrays the North Vietnamese as vermin It certainly doesn't glamourise the reality of war. A masterpiece which stands the test of time. It's a shame these days that most of the younger generation don't have the patiance for films to set a relevant mood."

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
"Seen Jarhead and Zero Dark Thirty and they were pretty good films so I suppose I am sorry that I tarred them all with the same brush. Saw Greyhound tonight and quite enjoyed it but I love films about war at sea anyway and it was interesting to see how naval destroyers hunted German submarines. Of course it's the British ship that gets sunk but it comes to something when you appreciate an American film that doesn't make an almost shoed-in line about how shit the British services were in WW2. Someone should tell them that the second world war started in 1939 and not '42. You wouldn't need to remind a Canadian, Kiwi, Australian, Saffa or any of the other countries that waded in to save the free world that fact."

"I'll give you the actions scenes are well done, although there wasn't a single 'surprise' explosion or shot that wasn't televised. Maybe I think too much but I'd like ONE American war film that could reflect on the lives and money they've pissed away effectively achieving nothing."
Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
Chim If I want to know the facts ref the Afgan war I'll watch a fucking documentary which I have. If I want to be entertained I'll watch this. Action scenes were very good. Agreed ref Caleb Landry Jones.

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
"I thought The Outpost was pretty rubbish even though it was essentially a true story. We all know that Hollywood's 'true' is not really in any of our vocabularies though. It steals from every other American war film ever made and is a complete cliche from start to finish. Even the brilliant Caleb Landry Jones couldn't hold the film together but his acting in this is superb and puts everyone else to shame. It's never really explained why they put an outpost in the dumbest possible place, right down in an exposed valley surrounded by mountains with literally a thousand perfect points for them to get ambushed from. Even at the end of the film it tells you that one of the outcomes of the enquiry was the American Army decided to not put any more outposts in obviously indefensible positions! No shit! I won't spoil it for anyone but towards the end is some of the most toe-curling 'MERICA dialogue old bollocks I've heard since... the last American war film I watched. I'm sure some of you will like it but I would prefer a deeper film where at least one character questions what the fuck they were doing in Afghanistan to start with and the pointlessness of the war. They even infer that they won the war for fuck sake. Still, most of you seem to be easily pleased when it comes to films and I suppose I should be grateful for that as you seem to hate virtually everything else. You bucket of popcorn wankers."

Decided to watch Eurovision. More a 2 out of 10 for me. Too long at two hours with only same couple of jokes. Seemed to take the idea from a much funnier 20 min father Ted episode.

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
Sold have you seen book of mormon? Maybe because i saw it in the west end rather than on my laptop but it's by far my favourite. Absolutely hysterical and some songs that get stuck in your head for weeks. Not as artistically or technically good as Hamilton but i enjoyed it so much!
