Barbarian was pretty good. It doesn’t go in the direction you think it will.

"Thanks Sold, I'll give it a go. Was just worried it would be Ben Affleck's Pearl Harbor all over again!! Frightening thing watching that 76 version was realising that Heston was a year younger than I am now in that movie. God that makes you feel old."

zico... saw the 76 version up the cinema back in the day still holds up pretty well... the 2019 version I seen a couple of times now... it's like Top Gun maverick set in 1942.... very gung ho.. but at least absolutely spot on with the historical stuff (like using the right planes... actual aviators etc)... which for me in a film is important... some spectacular battle scenes so a decent saturday evening 4 cans and a curry movie...

"Anyone seen the 2019 film Midway? Stumbled across the 1976 version on Netflix last night and hadn't seen it since I was a kid. Hell of a cast - Charlton Heston, Henry Fonda, James Coburn, Glenn Ford, Hal Holbrook, Toshiro Mifune, Robert Wagner, Pat Morita and a young Erik Estrada and Tom Selleck with Robert Mitchum bizarrely sitting in a hospital bed with a skin disease!! Very slow and not the best acting to be fair. Heston seems to be driving a jeep from place to place for most of the film and Henry Fonda is clearly in it for the money! So before I endure 2019's effort thought I would ask?"

"Yes, no punches pulled in All Quiet on the Western Front and really shows what a waste of life it was. The same as Vietnam and probably most other wars."

"I went to see Black Adam last night expecting to disagree with the critics, who have panned it, and side with the audiences, who love it. The first 45 minutes is utter shit, but when the JSA check in it gets OKish. Hawkman looks fantastic, making the Falcon seem the pale imitation he is. Dr Fate looks great, too and Pierce Brosnan nails him. A not fun Rocky is not a good Rocky. Not ONE raised people's eyebrow. Can you smell... etc."

"Alfs 5:26 Sat Oct 15 Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022) Watched The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Very silly and formulaic but shows that Nicholas Cage has a sense of humour. 6/1 Gave it a watch on a plane, not really a Cage fan, but not a lot else to watch. I thought it was a good piss take and enjoyed it."

Quite enjoyed The Good Nurse with Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne. Not the best film but quite incredible considering its based on a true story. Redmayne is a fantastic actor.

Banshee of Inisherin is a cracking film. Also see In Bruges if you've not already.

"Went to see The Lost King, true story about finding the burial place of Richard III in a Leicester car park. Decent film with Steve Coogan and Sally Hawkins playing the main roles, no sex, violence but an interesting story. I've quite like some of Coogan's films such as Philomena and Stan and Ollie."

I turned Bullet Train off after 15 minutes. It was like watching a bad Tom and Jerry episode.
