"In the process of watching The Deer Hunter again for the first time in years and god I'd forgotten how slow it is, still got an hour and a half to go which I will catch up this evening. No doubt it's a good film that probably deserved an Oscar at the time but seeing it again I'm not sure I am as impressed as I was the first time all those years ago!"

"I saw Avatar 2 at the weekend. It appears to have been written by a group of 6th form English students. The baddies are basically US Marines engaged in raping the world of the peaceful navi/navajo/vietnamese for its rare, um, somethingorother/ for no particular reason. The characters do things for no sane reason (we are being attacked in the forest, endangering our forest brothers and sisters, we shall go to the coast and endanger our sea brothers and sisters - we must track down and kill this bloke and his family because, er, don't really know - some of us will be human with boats and shit and some of us will be avatars - Mowgli will be in it, for no particular reason) Plagiarism abounds. I spotted Stagecoach, Apocalypse Now, Titanic (I suppose plagiarising your own film is OK), The Poseidon Adventure, the Jungle Book and High Noon. I'm certain there were more. They've already made Avatar 3. Good luck getting anyone to come and see that. It did look nice for about half an hour, though, until I got bored."

"Re-watched El Camino last night, just brilliant. Viewed the latest/last Halloween film, since I had seen all the others, was even worse than I feared, and JLC looks ancient."

"Do you guys all watch stuff on loaded Fire Sticks or whatever moody streaming sites are out there now? I ask because I get Prime as part of my business Prime Account, pay extra for Netflix, get Sky Cinema as part of my package but as a Virgin Media customer I can't get Sky Atlantic. I've just finished a Disney+ 3 month free trial, did the same for Paramount+ but its a ball ache and I don't want to pay any more subs if I can help it. I saw this Beer Run movie - along with Slow Horses, which I have been recommended - are on Apple+ but its a subscription too far... where the fuck does it end?"

"Stumbled across a couple of decent Kevin Costner films on Netflix that are worth a watch. ""Let Him Go"" and ""The Highwaymen"". The latter about the old Texas Rangers brought back to stop Bonnie and Clyde. Both slow burners but well worth a watch."

"Black Panther 2 A more steaming pile of shit you could not wish to see. The tributes to Chadwick Boseman are well done and classy, to be fair. The rest is an overtly racist remake of a cross between Aquaman and Avatar. Avoid at all costs."

"Anyone want an old comedy to watch I've stumbled across Operation Petticoat on Sky Cinema. Cary Grant, Tony Curtis and directed by Blake Edwards. Like Grants films but never heard of this one but it's a good watch."
