NFL (since 2016)

"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"Claret- I think the Raiders had horrendous luck with the amount of injuries they were carrying in to the game, and collecting as the game went on. Real shame they couldn't give a decent account of themselves."

"Big £6.25 placed on Murray at 8's then. Can't look further than the 3 home teams in the other games, so may do Baldwin for the filth if Murray comes in."

"Anyone know anything about this raiders qb, as it's time to have a small dabble again and I fancy the raiders still after watching Houston last week. Osweiler makes nordtveit look like cafu and they have hardly any top class offensive weapons. Thinking a Murray first TD."

Tell you it makes you wonder how the fuck we can get it so wrong with our football stadiums (and obviously our NON football stadium) when you look at some of the college ones... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryant%E2%80%93Denny_Stadium#/media/File:Bryant-Denny_10-22-11.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michigan_Stadium#/media/File:Michigan_Stadium_2011.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohio_Stadium#/media/File:Skorry-ohiostadium_6048.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyle_Field#/media/File:Kyle_Field_Panorama.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darrell_K_Royal%E2%80%93Texas_Memorial_Stadium#/media/File:Darrell_K_Royal-Texas_Memorial_Stadium_at_Night.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memorial_Stadium_(Clemson)#/media/File:MemorialStadiumSept2006.jpg

"Funny that RFK was considered better though, as that was a multi sports stadium and I think got quite a load of negative comment in its day. Their move probably could have been a massive success with a good owner and a good front office running the team."

"aub- interesting! That must be why I thought Metlife had a lower capacity. I suppose it's a smart move to reduce capacity to avoid games being blacked out, which would be a disaster for such a prominent team. Weird though- if I lived in the area I'd go to as many games as possible, although I suppose NFL is one of those sports where watching from home on a big TV can actually be a better experience if you really want to see what's going on, because the coverage is so amazing. (The invention of the first down line is one of the best bits of tech ever!) Haha- I do see the parallels between us and them a little bit! I reckon Snyder probably is a little similar to our own guys if you think about it. I'd definitely take them over him though!"

"El Scorchio 1:50 Thu Jan 5 FedEx was around 93k a while back but they reduced it to make way for good old party decks etc. Since then its been reduced again due to falling ticket sales as the team were pony and owners didnt want to fall foul of NFL ticket sale rules. I know its wikipedia, but does this section ring any bells with the move to a certain stadium? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FedExField#Criticisms_and_potential_replacement"

"It's listed as 80,000 now on wikipedia, but I was sure it held 100,000 as well. Also thought Metlife held less than Fedex Field. TBH I don't know why they didn't make Metlife 100k plus, They could easily sell the tickets."

"Northern Sold 12:32 Thu Jan 5 That list is mad isn't it. I think the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T stadium is the largest NFL capacity approx 100k - their record attendance is 105k, unless they have now had to reduce it."

"It's generally NFL in the North of the country and College in the south. The rivalries are huge, and so is the college game- Michigan University's stadium holds over 100,000 people. Fucking nuts. Can you imagine even 50 people turning up to watch Lincoln play Bournemouth at football?"

Ha Ha Ha!! I might have to watch that again that was a excellent view... Yeah the game is absolutely massive out there isn't it... I think a lot of it comes down there is only X amount of NFL teams and that is it... and if a franchise move out of your state what are you left with?? A lot of those Mid West civilians only have College/High School games in their area so it's massive for them.... Me and the missus took in a High School game down in Clearwater... was superb... probably a good couple of thousand there watching 15/16 year olds do their stuff... my MATE played football (SOCCER) on a scholarship for Florida Tech... broke all sorts of records and got voted their sportsman of the millennium!! He said it was not unusual to play in front of 50 or 60k... after he then joined Rochdale and played infront of 2000 if he was lucky!!

"Funny you say that, I saw something similar (for the only time) in San Fran on the day Oakland lost a playoff game against the Jets. I've been in Orlando on the day when Florida U played FSU but the rivalry was good natured. Personally I can't understand why college sports is so massive there. Even people who never went to Uni follow a team. I bet the redneck who poisoned the Auburn oaks didn't have a degree!"

Been to the US shit loads of times and the only shit I ever saw being given to anyone was a bloke wearing a NY Yankees baseball cap in San Fran'... he was getting and giving back loads of shit... have to admit most of the abuse went right over my head.... Funniest thing I ever heard was at a meal where some Aussie bloke was having a pop at some yank about murdering Phar lap !!

Yeah see that a few years back Woodford... abso classic... that phone in show trying to find out who poisoned the Auburn Oak Trees that had been in their grounds for 100's of years... ag ag ag!! Also watched the Trojan War one about the USC and their showdowns with Texas.... really enjoyed that... like I said seems to be far more bitter rivalries in the College scene...
