NFL (since 2016)

"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"from personal experience and watching thecshit going on at the redskins, the yearly franchise tag they've had cousins on is an expensive distraction. you need him on a five year deal and build round him. for all you know that cսnt belichik is already planning how to get him back"

"He's probably just making a point. Sounds like he's trying to get a group of high profile African Americans to buy the team with him to try and 'redress the balance', as I believe almost all the other owners are middle aged or old white men and women. Shahid Khan at Jacksonville being the only real exception?"

"That's a very good point about injuries etc, Definitely lots more knee/ankle/ligament injuries than ever before. I do think the players are a bit faster thanks to lighter equipment, a bit bigger on the whole, and probably they hit a little harder. There's no doubt that running routes basically on carpet where the defenders aren't really allowed to put hands on you like in the old days really helps quarterbacks and receivers rack up yards and stats like never before and linemen are being chosen to pass protect, to the point where the running back is not so often the star or workhorse of the team any more. One notable exception sadly being that cսnt in dallas. I think a lot of it is to do with fantasy football to be honest, which is now a huge source of revenue. The rules have been slightly altered year on year in order to encourage high scoring games and shootouts where possible. It's a shame really- I love seeing a shut down defensive performance, but that doesn't happen so much any more."

"scorch, you talk about playing conditions but don't you think this new hybrid turf is a big reason for so many injuries in the game now? I don't hold with the argument that the game is any quicker and I'm convinced these playing surfaces fuck players physically"

"never saw much of him scorch but have watched some videos and I agree, he's up there with the best power backs I know I keep going on about Riggins but during that Superbowl season, in the four playoff games he carried the ball almost 140 times and was 33 :.)"

"Yeah, you cant compare modern era QBs to older ones through stats. It's like playing catch for receivers now thanks to the rules which offer them and the passer so much protection, compared to 10 or 20 years ago. Also add the fact that playing conditions are much better now- you see footage of the likes of Unitas playing in mudbaths and now most of them are playing on pristine or fake turf."

"Miike- in all seriousness I agree he was a quality player, whichever team you follow :) Technically a full back, but I'm adding Larry Csonka to the list too, if we're talking the best white runners."
