NFL (since 2016)

"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"One of the quarterbacks could fall. They usually do. There's a fair few being talked about this year, but there are a lot of teams who want one and apparently not a great deal of consensus on where they should all be ranked. Some people say Rosen should go #1 overall, some say he'll be the guy who slides. Some say Allen WILL go #1 overall, some say he shouldn't be considered there. Darnold Allen Rosen Mayfield Jackson The only cert I think is that Darnold goes #1 or #2. He's not getting past the Giants. (or whoever may trade into the #2 spot)"

"I'll tell you who I do like the look of after doing some more research, Lamar Jackson - seems to be a more athletic version of Desean Watson entering the league, he has a bit of an inconsistent arm but is being compared to Mike Vick in terms of mobility with a far better arm than the animal beater ever had coming out of college. Rumours of him going potentially to the Patriots at number 23 - but with the early rush on QBs at the top of the draft I cant see him being available that far down as someone will trade up to go and get him around 15"

"Oh, and for the same reasons the Giants really should pick a QB regardless of what the Browns do, unless there are extremely strong doubts over anyone not called Darnold."

"The Browns can't afford to miss on ANOTHER quarterback and settle for the second or third best in the draft at 4 when they can have their choice at 1, even if a great running back is sitting there. Barkley may be the best player but QB is a far more important position. Get it right and you're set for 15 years. Get it wrong and you're the Cleveland Browns... They should go with a quarterback. Looks likely Darnold or Allen if all the gossip is to be believed. Whoever it is can sit for a year or until this season is a write off while Taylor starts."

"Barkley should go no1, especially when there's three or four decent qbs and the Browns have the fourth pick. knowing the way they draft, Barkley will drop to your lot and you'll at last have a great back again :.("

"Giants will take Barkley if the Browns don't. And will only take Darnold, again if the Browns don't. Management and ownership feels Eli needs more weapons and a little bit more protection. Then maybe.? Just maybe they could become in contention in the NFC East."

"Four days to go before the 2018 draft, and still some big uncertainties about what some of the teams with key picks will do. Looks increasingly likely that the Browns will take Sam Darnold at #1. The Giants at #2 is still up in the air. They know who they want, but are keeping their cards close to their chest. the best player on the board will be the running back Saquon Barkley. But Eli won't last forever, and it's rare that the Giants will have a top-two pick. So don't be surprised to see them draft Eli's successor QB. If that's the case, you're looking at Josh Rosen. If the opt to replace JPP with an edge rusher, it'll be Bradley Chubb. My guess is Rosen will go #2 and learn from Eli for a year. Which puts the QB-desperate Jets on the board at #3 with only three of the ""big five"" QBs left: Mayfield, Allen and Jackson. They'll take Baker Mayfield. It's looking nailed on if Darnold and Rosen are off the board. Three QBs in the top three picks is unusual, but all three teams need LT solutions at the position. Browns will then likely take the best player, Barkley, off the board at #4. He could be a huge hit if he makes the transition."

"Crystal - Rosen is definitely the most pro-ready QB in the draft. He might even be the best, although Darnold and Mayfield have got some huge skills. Allen is a slightly bigger risk, but could really pay off for a team with a good QB coach and some patience. Huge arm - off the charts, really. The guy can hurl the ball, at speed, pretty much the length of the field. But he has accuracy issues compared with the other three. Most high-quality QBs enter the NFL with a college pass completion rate of around 62-65%. The top-class QBs tend to enter the NFL with a pass completion rate of around 65-68%. Allen's pass completion rate, even at college, is just 58%. Which is not great. Of course, some QBs enter the NFL with that sort of ratio and, because they learn how to select their passes far better, they improve their completion rate. But I'd be a little concerned about Allen's PCR, given that he's been running a very specific (non-NFL) offense at college, which for most QBs should help with better pass completions. If you watch video of Allen's workouts and game time, you can see he has enormous raw talent. But you can also see his accuracy issues. Compare him to Baker Mayfield, for example, who has a 68% PCR and off-the-chart accuracy. Looks like he could thread the eye of a needle with the ball. Rosen and Darnold not far behind, either: and they have slightly better pass selection. To me, Allen's still the fourth best QB in the draft. At the moment."

Darnold will go No1. Barkley at No2. Jets will take a QB at 3.(Take your pick.?) And Cleveland will take Chubb at 4. After that. It's open season.

"I don't watch any college football but been listening to some podcasts and Josh Allen has some big upside but sounds like he is nowhere near being ready to run an offence. Sounds like Rosen is the most pro-ready QB, but the biggest knock on him is that he is ""too smart"" and continually needs to be told why he is doing certain things, which seems to of put off some of the more poorly coached teams (browns, Jets etc) seems like Darnold is the favourite to be the first guy picked but he's not the finished product yet, had a lot of turnovers in his last year at college."

"Will be interesting to see how these sort of things effect Josh Rosen who is looking like a top 3 pick in the draft, he is also very vocal in his left wing agenda and seems like he is actually a smart enough guy to maybe make some headway. But again it will be his level of play that will determine if he stays in the NFL not him speaking out. if you're talented enough you'll get a job, just look at some of the criminals tat still get work in the NFL."

"Pretty simple really, you own a Football Franchise you want your players to attract fans and interest in your Franchise. All this protesting the flag in the name of BLM is turning fans away, costing the owner money. Who would want to employ someone that's gonna turn fans away? Football is a business, I know I wouldn't hire Kaepernick or Eric Reid."

"""I totally understand where they are coming from by supporting the Black Lives Matter campaign and making a statement about the treatment of black people in the States. Totally support him on principle."" A white man in 7 times more likely to be killed by a black man in the US than vice versa. But yeah, only BLM. Black lives only matter in the less than 1% of cases where a white man is doing the killing. This BLM movement is dehumanising and divisive exactly because it ignores the fact that all lives matter equally."

"Kaepernick brings a whole load of baggage with him including his viciously racist girlfriend who will accuse his employer of being a slave master. If he was a great quarterback, none of that will matter, but he isn't. He is a second string qb at best and who wants that colossal distraction for a second string qb? Every time he doesn't play instead of the more talented white qb in the team it will be because of racism. Teams need him like they need their bollocks in a vice. Of course, according to the (so-called) liberal media in the US, his lack of a huge contract is solely down to racism, which I guess they're right about, except it is his racism, not the owners'."

"Not sure I agree with the idea that his girlfriend was an issue re: the NFL effectively ignoring him. I don't know much about her, but she's a radio host in NYC isn't she? How did that affect his career - unless she was distracting him from training (which is possible!). The fact is, there was no (real or perceived) movement against him - by the NFL, fans or other teams (who refuse to take him) - until he started with his protest. Nobody can be definitive, of course, but the circumstantial evidence points to that. I guess that's what he's now challenging legally. But you're right to say that he's not even that good. He had one magical year, and has played like a back-up ever since. So, let's face it. we're talking about a QB2 at best for any team. The guy clearly had some talent, and at 30 he should still be on a franchise roster. But he's no Joe Namath. ;-)"
