NFL (since 2016)
"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"As for glory hunting, why did you choose to support the Redskins in the early 80s again?"

Re: 2016 NFL Season
Future. Elway will be known primarily as a substandard GM by the time Wentz is finished. Basking in the glory after a lifetime of following losing teams is a novel feeling. If only I'd acclimatised with a bit of success of the Hammers along the way.

Re: 2016 NFL Season
Having last pick in the draft and having the future greatest QB of all time means I can be very objective about all this.

Re: 2016 NFL Season
"""Okay...so we can assume Hermit's not a fan of Mayfield or Rosen, then!""ù A fair assessment. I think the Mayfield/Chargers situation would worry me because it tells you something about the character of the man you're signing and that's as important in an NFL QB as it is in any sportsman in the world. It suggests that he is a primadonna and entitled when in reality you need a QB who is going to get a big group of men to fight for him. He seems like a bit of child, and children don't lead men. In that regard he's the polar opposite of the man at the Chargers. If he had half an ounce of professionalism about him he would have been learning everything he could from Phillip Rivers and would have been grateful for the privilege of doing so. As for Rosen, he will have a similar problem. He's an entitled little rich boy and I don't think that a lot of his statements on working in Mac Donald's and having rich parents or not having to play the game will go down well with people who are putting their body on the line to make him look good."

Re: 2016 NFL Season
"Okay...so we can assume Hermit's not a fan of Mayfield or Rosen, then! On the Mayfield/Chargers thing: it shouldn't worry any team that wants him other than the Chargers. Reading between the lines, he's made it quite clear he doesn't want to go there. I kind of get the impression that he's been told by at least one team that he's off the board by pick five or six. It is most likely the Jets. According to late rumours, the Browns are now considering Mayfield or Darnold at #1. But that sounds like the usual last-minute misdirections you usually get from teams. One pick which seems to be firming up, according to the papers in New York, is Barkley to the Giants at #2. That would be a great fit for him and them, if they did not want to take Eli's long-term replacement. Guess time will tell if it's the right pick."

Re: 2016 NFL Season
"That Mayfield has the look of a knob about him. Rosen doesn't so much have the look of a knob, rather he's a big neon, flashing phallus with surround-sound speakers that shout, ""I'm a knob, I'm a knob"" on a continual loop."

Re: 2016 NFL Season
Keep reading lots of things that throw up red flags for Mayfield just been reading he completely bombed his try outs with the Chargers because he's unprepared essentially because he's fully expecting to be gone by the time they draft.

Re: 2016 NFL Season
2004 was a great draft for QBs as well. They've actually won twice as many super bowls as the 83 class.

Re: 2016 NFL Season
"What always amazes me about the '83 draft, was the quality of some of the other players taken early on: Eric Dickerson, Darrell Green, Willie Gault, Jim Jeffcoat etc. The quality that year was extraordinary. Roger Craig went in the second round that year. Richard Dent and Mark Clayton went in the later rounds."

Re: 2016 NFL Season
"FC - highly unlikely, mate. This year's is a decent QB class, but '83 was something else: Elway, Marino, Kelly, Eason, O'Brien and Blackledge. This four or five of this year's crop have the potential to go on to have solid NFL careers as long-term starters. It's possible that a couple of them could become top-class. But equalling the '83 class of three legends plus three really solid starters - that would take some doing. I think Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield and possibly Allen could be long-term starters. They all have exceptional accuracy at college level. Allen is a risk, but has huge potential. Jackson looks to me like he might be in and out of the NFL quite quickly. But you just never know."

"Burnsy you fucking pussy, you never answered my call for a bet on who wins our division!!! Current odds below, so you can't lose surely? ;o) Rams - 11/10 Niners - 13/5 Seahawks - 15/4 Cards - 11/1"

Re: 2016 NFL Season
"OMM - five QBs will go in the 1sr round: Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield, Allen and Jackson. They might all go inside the top 16 picks if someone over-extends on Jackson. That QB premium is going to create a lot of good value further down in Rnd 1 and into Rnd 2. A few tackles and DLs who might be worth a top 15 pick will probably drop to late Rnd 1 and early Rnd 2. The unglamourous positions will give shrewd coaches rich pickings through to RndS 3 and 4."

Re: 2016 NFL Season
"While it's not the outstanding draft class that some are making out it is an interesting draft roster this year. So many teams need help, a number of franchise QBs are coming to the end of their careers.... could see 5 or 6 QBs go in the first round."

Re: 2016 NFL Season
"Burns - the Rams could literally give picks away in this draft and still be flippin' strong next season. That's one heck of a roster already. JFKD - you a big Browns fan, then? If so, looks like you're going back in for a QB at #1 and could possibly land the best player in the entire draft (RB Barkley) at #4 if the Giants pass on him and opt for a QB instead."
