NFL (since 2016)
"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

Re: 2016 NFL Season
Darnold is really growing on me... if the Jets can sort out every other position they might be a decent team.

Re: 2016 NFL Season
"They are a very good team, shame they have no fans. Doing it without Melvin Gordon the last couple of games too who has been the best running back in the league this year not named Gurley. Once they get Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram firing together again at defensive end they will be a hard prospect to face. could easily see a rematch of last night in the divisional round after the Chargers take care of whoever the 4th seed ends up being."

Re: 2016 NFL Season
I wouldn't mind one bit if the Chargers went on to win the whole thing this year.

Re: 2016 NFL Season
I love mahomes. it's like watching someone with rg3's legs but with a rocket arm and unbelievable vision. I've no doubt he'll eventually take a hard hit but he's great to watch

"Some serious stones showed by the head coach to go for 2 at the end there, guess he figures he has more chance of converting from 2 yards than going to extra time and hoping they win a coin toss."

"Patriots would be the bloody number 1 seed right now if it wasn't for that absurd play in Miami last week! Still hope as the chiefs have to go into seattle next week, although Im really not confident about the patriots chances in Pittsburgh this week either, been a completely different team away from home"

Re: 2016 NFL Season
"I'm sure Rodgers is hard work - he always gives that impression. But Jennings' story about the season opener in his final year always struck me as a bit of a reach on Jennings' part. He was entering the final season of his contract and, according to other Green Bay sources, indicating he was leaving the franchise. Rodgers turns to the cornerback for the 49ers (I think) and says something like 'you guys should get him after this year'. It's not exactly the world's biggest insult to Jennings. It's an odd thing to say to an opponent during a game, granted. But his contract was up soon and he'd indicated he was leaving. The real insult would have been to say 'you can take him now'! I'm sure Rodgers is hard work, but that tale makes Jennings sound like a complete snowflake. He says Rodgers' statement 'messed me up'. Really? We all heard worse things in the school playground every day."

Re: 2016 NFL Season
who does Rodgers get on with? look up Greg Jennings talking about what he said to an opposing team player as Jennings was playing in the final year of his contract. I wouldn't want to play with the cսnt even though he's very talented

"Let's face it, the Harbaughs are more typically 'New York' guys - bit brash, bit loud and a bit bullish. They fit the traditional NYC mould more than McCarthy. But who's to say that would work in Gotham. It failed with Rex - although he was fun (and fucking mental)."

Re: 2016 NFL Season
"Hearing a lot more ppl talk about McCarthy as a possible Jets coach - so perhaps it will happen. I had sort of dismissed the idea because he doesn't seem to be a New York kind of guy. But if he's happy to come to East Rutherford, then he's got to be a strong option for Gang Green. Sam Darnold needs guidance, and McCarthy has worked with, and improved, Favre and Rodgers. He also sorted out the messy situation created by the handover between Favre and Rodgers (the two did not get on, according to reports). And, let's face it, there's no bigger mess in the NFL than the Jets of the past eight seasons! I had McCarthy down as a possible for Cleveland, because of Baker Mayfield (who must look like an attractive asset to any coach). Cleveland is also a smaller and less intrusive city, which would suit a guy coming out of Green Bay. But I'll take him in New York if Woody is prepared to back him. He's still an upgrade on Todd Bowles, despite going a little stale in Green Bay. Perhaps the change of scene will do him the world of good."

Re: 2016 NFL Season
"Just checked - the Jets traded their first and second round picks to Cleveland so that they could take Sanchex at #5 in 2009. If they'd waited, they could have taken Clay Matthews at LB in the first round, LeSean McCoy at RB in the second round and Mike Wallace at WR in the third. It would have left them without a decent, young QB - but there were a few veterans available in free agency at the time who were at last the equivalent of Sanchez. Lesson: unless you really are fecking desperate in a particular position (as the Jets were at QB this year), take the best player on the board."

"we were never meant to get anything out of him, what team has two quarterbacks break legs inside three weeks? that he was signed in the first place is the biggest insult but the even bigger insult is having an owner like snyder and a lapdog cսnt gm like allen. it's been a disaster since he bought the club"

Re: 2016 NFL Season
"The Skins will get almost nothing out of Mark Sanchez...because there is almost nothing in there! He promised a lot when at college, but was never anything more than average even at his 'peak'. But the worst thing that ever happened to him (and one of the worst things to happen to the hapless Jets for a good twenty years) was when Rex Ryan and the backroom team traded up to get him at #5 in the 2009 draft. From the Jets perspective, they overspent on him massively - he was never worth the trade-up. And that meant they passed on good players such as Clay Matthews in that draft. Once Matt Stafford was off the board, there were no other good QBs, so the premium for even average QBs was very high. After Stafford and Sanchez, the next best QB in the draft was Josh Freeman - so you can see it wasn't a draft blessed with QB talent. That all put a lot of pressure on a pretty average QB at the Jets, which - as a franchise - had no offensive nous at all (Ryan is a superb defensive coach, but did not have a clue how to run an offense and nor did his support team). So an at-best 'decent' and mostly average QB was left to try to carry a team with traditionally poor offensive records. He actually did OK for the first two years, but then he got found out and, without decent weapons, he was totally exposed. From Sanchez's perspective, Ryan was not the coach he should have gone to play for. Other NFL coaches would at least have knocked him into shape a little more. Instead, he was left to do his own thing - and he was talented enough for that. So his form and confidence fell off a cliff after two seasons. And then the Butt Fumble happened and we all pissed ourselves laughing at the all-round incompetence. You have no hope with Sanchez. He'll flatter to deceive you in the odd game, but he just doesn't have the capacity/talent."
