NFL (since 2016)
"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
best leader I've seen on a defence other than singletary. our sean taylor would have got close to that level if he hadn't been killed. deion's a bit marmite for me but some of his celebrations were funny when scoring a td :.)

Re: NFL (since 2016)
Looking into the Sanders move it does seem like a very good half season rental option. Trade away what is likely a low 4th and swap it with what will be a high 5th and then you trade away your 3rd round pick but will more than likely get a 3rd round compensatory pick if/when he moves on when his contract runs out at the end of the season. Essentially gave up nothing but moving down a few spots in the draft

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"I'd say the Patsies got the best of those deals with Sanu - he's an almost perfect fit for them. A second rounder is OK for Sanu and Belichick always picks up good quality in rounds three, four and five of the draft anyway. Sanders is a good pick-up for the 49ers. His age might be an issue, but given the start San Francisco have had this season, he could keep them in ""win now"" mode. Two good deals, those."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Saw the Patriots also acquired bethel who for some reason the ravens cut. Harbaugh was obviously very unhappy they released him and called him ""the best special teams player in the league"" Pats probably now have the best 2 special teamers with Matthew slater being a borderline hall of fame level player if people ever do get in on special teams contributions alone. seems they cut him so they would get some sort of compensatory pick but i have no idea how that system works."
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"I actually think both teams have done pretty good business with Sanu and Sanders, with both being the exact positions that needed strengthening. People are probably basing their Sanders valuation on the fact that he seems better at nicking a TD, though I've always thought Sanu was constantly popping up with quality plays to get his team up into the redzone. Not exactly a hard choice between Sanders and Pettis for us as the main man."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Sounds like tge niners were in for sanu too, i did think a 2nd round pick might have been a bit high but i guess its wgat the niners couldnt match, He's got 2 years left on his deal and is younger than sanders, and cheaper but still seeing lots on twitter that sanders should have commanded a higher draft capital than sanu"
Re: NFL (since 2016)
Niners give up a 3rd and 4th for Emanuel Sanders and Denvers 5th rounder. At 32 he wont cost a fortune to extend. Niners need to preserve cap space to resign free agents next year. Next years draft we will have a 1st round two 5th's and a 6 and 7th rounder. Niners adding pieces without mortgaging the future. We should be able to sign Buckner and Armstead next year and a few others.

"1.Brady 2. Elway 3.Montana 4.Manning 5.Marino Obviously i wan't around for a lot of the old greats so most of my opinions are based on history, old film and people's opinions who i respect. Could obviously include people like Unitas, Starr or Otto Graham in there but i don't even think those guys were playing the same sport back then compared to how it is now."

"Agree to disagree. He is top 5 forbme especially , if they can do it again. Without the natural gifts of some others, garbage defences around him, natural disasters but never dipped bellow 7 wins. Which is saying something for the Saints."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Brees' is obviously very very good, but i dont put him in the same bracket as the true greats of all time, he has a lot of yards throwing in the dome but has always been a bit shaky when playing on the road. Also the saints have had quite a number of seasons where they have gone like 8-8, 7-9 etc which you just never see for the truly great QBs. Top 10 id say but doesnt approach my top 5"

"Haven't been able to catch many other games, so hard for me to judge but so far the Saints have managed to win through a bunch of adversary. I think Brees deserves another ring but I am biased."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Saints or Packers i think will be the NFC representative in the superbowl, seem to have a good balance of offence and defence and have the elite QB (when Brees is back) who can win a game when things may not be going according to plan. Think the Brees injury may be a huge blessing in disguise for New orleans, seems to have brought the team and defence together to circle the wagons. Also Brees' arm was noticeably shot towards the back end of last season, think he tired massively so a long break in the middle of the season may keep his arm fresh moving into January."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"southbankbornnbred 5:21 Tue Oct 22 I remember Abraham, probably because he went to the Falcons later. The Saints are the best defensively than any time I have been following them, even the bountygate year. It has been a lot of awful, paper bags on head 'Aints over the years. But apparently there was a group in 80's called the Dome Patrol where all 4 linebackers went to the Pro Bowl."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Yeah, I remember it well. We only had Robinson for the one season, I think. He was a good safety - but for some reason he kept yanking at Aaron Brooks' facemask. Turley took offence! Our defence back then was as mean a hell. Not quite the sack exchange, but some hard-assed players like Ellis, Lewis and Abrahams. They liked a bit of a rumble."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Southbank Do you remember a player of yours called Damien Robinson, would have been about the same time. Try to take the head off the Saints QB Aaron Brooks by yanking on his facemask. O lineman Kyle Turley took exception and went into the scrum and yanked off Robinson's helmet. came out waved it like a trophy. Think it was Monday night, because I was watching it with my friends at university and Turley was our favourite even before that."
