NFL (since 2016)
"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

Crystal. You rejected my offer. It was the offer of a lifetime. You must have been mad not to take it.

Sorry Crystal A bad game against the Chiefs won't make me give up on Jackson just yet. Even if you play on my Who Dat loyalty.

"I take more interest than ever now, and gase should have been sacked at the end of last season. the bloke is fucking clueless and doesn't know how to use players. your only potent weapon at the weekend, herndon, got just three catches. nothing worse than an owner using a coach as a vanity project. just admit you got it wrong and make the change"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Somebody who was cheap, would be grateful for the job, wouldn't say boo to a goose and who has extraodinary stare-y eyes! In all honest, IH, I really don't know what they (think they) saw in Gase. It was a ridiculously poor appointment. He bombed in that final season in Miami and he has carried on bombing since he arrived. The flurry of wins we had at the end of last season (when the season was effectively already over) flattered his record and probably kept him in the job. But he is utterly useless on every level. He's a ""yes man"", grateful for the and not prepared to face-up to the owners over the lack of investment and the constant player/contract churn etc. When Bowles finally went, Mike McCarthy actively sought the HC job in New York. He was exactly what we neeed - a gnarly old fucker of a HC who knows his way around the NFL and would bring that bruising NFC North approach to the AFC East. But McCarthy knows his own mind (he will no doubt fall out with Jones in Dallas at some point) and that scared the living bejesus out of our owners and GM. The Jets have generally thrived (rare periods) when they've had experienced head coaches - it just seems to be how best to handle the media pressure and market in New York. Bill Parcells, Weeb Ewbank (who won our only superbowl back in the 60s) - best coaches we've had and they had already won titles elsewhere. Whenever we've picked younger/inexperienced head coaches, like Gase, they have tended to be useless (like Gase), pciked too soon (like Pete Carroll way back in the 1990s) or the kind of coaches who do OK but fall a little short (Rex Ryan, Herm Edwards etc). I don't know how McCarthy will do at the Cowgirls, but I'd have bitten your arm off for him last year when he was asking to be appointed at the Jets. How the hell did Gase interview better than McCarthy?"

"South, would be interested to hear your perspective on the Gase hire - What did the Jets see during the Miami era that suggested he would be a good hire?"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Def - it's all happening again at the Jets, isn't it?! We've been used to this shite for decades now. Absolutely hopeless leadership inside that franchise - especially now that the (superb) team captain, Adams, saw sense and got the hell out of there over the summer. Too many similarities with West Ham: maybe that's why we're drawn to them! Zeb. It's a long story trying to expain the clusterfuck that is the Jets' long-term ownership, GM situation (present guy exempt because he's still finding his feet), head coaching situation and roster. But if I could sum it up with one fact, it would be this: The Jets' owner, Woody Johnson, is currently Donald Trump's ambassador to the UK. To be honest, while that's not got little to do with American football, it says everything you need to know about the family which runs the Jets. And, as we all know from the grim reality of West Ham, it comes from the top down. Now that the non-Skins Skins from Skinland, and the Borwns, have begun to get their act into gear on the admin/board side of their granchises, the Jets have a good argument for being the worst-run franchise in the NFL. Again! Such a shame, because Sam Darnold's raw talent at QB is there for all to see. But shite owner = shite GMs = shite HC = shite OC = shite QB coach = no chance of Darnold developing his potential any time soon. Think Sullivan - see Johnson."
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Dalvin Cook is still a fantasy beast though Cough. The Jets are a complete mess, I have not followed them closely enough to know why although it appears to be a recruitment clusterfuck in just about every department if the defence is porous and the offence can't score. The Falcons are a mess but at least Matt Ryan and their receiving corps can still rack up the TDs at will."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"not sure if rivera's distracted with his treatment but two games running now he hasn't used time outs in the last quarter. not that it mattered much, but he could at least appear to be trying to the end. haskins continues to look cumbersome & indecisive, but he probably deserves a couple more games. worryingly his down the field vision looks poor and I'm not sure how much that can improve in the short term. it may be harsh but ron may be forced in to a change if performances don't improve"
