NFL (since 2016)
"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Yeah but the 49ers have had some of the best ever QBs in Joe (Mouse) Montana and Steve Young That team with Montana, Jerry Rice and Ronnie Lott with Bill Walsh as coach was pretty damn good"
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Done Brady to throw at least 2 TD's a half, so the lions shitness has fucked me there. And Gabbert is so shit, amazed he still gets game time anywhere. Christ the niners have had some truly awful QB's on their roster since Young."
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Have the Lions ever been any good? I mean even with one of the greatest ever running backs in Barry Sanders, they weren't up to much. Yeah and the Vikings are fucking shit, could be curtains for Zimmer"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Grumpster 1:08 Sat Dec 26 Hanging in there with the Chiefs gave me some rare optimism. Just need to get all phases working at once, which has been a problem. Attrition will be a big part of it."
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Not many teams in it, but scoring 52 points against the worst vikings defence I've seen didnt overly impress me. Kamara won't get it that easy ever again in his career I wouldn't have thought. Still think the chiefs are the only very good all round team and as the current people's champions, also seem to be getting a ton of awful ridiculous penalties (including against your boys recently) in their favour which makes them even harder to beat. As you say though, anything can happen amd any team can have a shocking day and choke. Just fancy the packers to win the division."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Grumpster 2:48 Sat Dec 26 I don't know. 55 points without an All Pro receiver, an Pro Bowl lineman and a couple depth player at those positions Quarterback still not quite right after a long lay off. Defence missing the guy tied for second in sacks and a starting safety. Like most teams, especially this year, it will depend on who they get healthy for the playoffs. Congrats if whoever has Kamara is still playing meaningful game."
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Thanks to tier 4 my Xmas present was 2 bets of my choice. Tenner at 3/1 on kamara and cook to both get a TD. Fiver on kamara TD in each half at 5/1. Both on her account, I'm getting knocked!!!"

"The Mercernary 10:50 Wed Dec 23 You can have all the names you want, West Ham have won something in a final, a handful of times. The Dirty Birds - not so much. Having a 21-3 halftime lead doesn't count for anything, unfortunately."

"Surely the Falcons are WHU? Brooking, Hurst, Peters and a certain Robert Moore have all played for them..."

"Crystal that is a fair point but is easily matched by our success in the 1966 World Cup Final. And you're right, it is a fledgling NFL thread annual tradition."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
Hermit sure we had this same debate only a year or so ago. Eagles won a superbowl very recently. Therefore cannot be compared to west ham anymore

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"The Eagles had a jail cell in their old stadium, much like the one at Upton Park in the old West Stand. Like us, there was a good reason for having one. If you've been to Philadelphia it was/is as much like the Eastend as any US city. Solidly working class, love their boxing, and plenty of ways to buy and sell things that the criminal justice system frowns upon."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Even though I'm a huge Jets fan, I really enjoyed the games at Soldier Field. Most of the Bears fans were so used to getting walloped by the likes of Green Bay, and so self-effacing and cynical, that they were expecting to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory even with less than a minute to go! On the way out, I heard one their fans call his missus and say: ""Darlin', gonna be later than usual tonight because we went and fuckin' won, which means I owe the guys more beer than usual..."""

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Not that these things matter too much, but I'd say the Bears comparison is pretty accurate. Been to Soldier Field to watch games - and their fans are very much like ours. Cynical, humorous and passionate - and a mostly working-class/blue collar bunch. They also don't expect to win much. Probably the best comparisons (not that any comparisons are that great) are the Bears and the Jets (biggest city's big/working-class side, passionate fans, never win much but had their heyday in the 1960s, all about the craic etc). Too many fly-by-nights within the 49ers, Seagulls (!) and any newbie franchise to be considered West Ham (no offence to any of those fans on here...)"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Joe I don't and can't. Saints are relatively new ((slightly older than the Seahawks) They had no success (winning season) for a long while. Have been mediocre to near the top of the league for 15 or so years, only winning something in the late 00's. Hence the Bears."
