"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

Rodgers to Denver sounds very close. Some very good quarterbacks (and derek carr) in that division! Hopefully another team out of the QB market in the draft and justin fields to the Patriots is one step closer!

Looks like someone can have him for $30 million per year for the next two years. That is cheap for a team a QB shy of a SB run.

"It is difficult to know what Rodgers might be angling for at Green Bay as the roster is largely sorted. They dont have high draft picks but, from what I have read, this draft is stacked is good receivers who probably won't drop it Equinemous St Brown style when it really matters. If it is just money he needs to have a good think about that."

"Timing is everything - and, for that reason, don't believe a single word of the Aaron Rodgers shite for the time being. I'm sure these 'sources' around him, leaking the stories, are his agents. He's been trying to agree a contract extension and has, for far, failed to get the deal he wants. Leak a story about moving on, on draft day (when picks and NFL futures get traded), and you'll do at least one of two things: a) Get a sense of the market value for what remains of your career. b) Panic your franchise into a better deal for you. My guess is Rodgers' agent has gambled on a final big pay day, and while he's at it, he's sending a message to Green Bay to draft the players their QB wants around him - or he might leave. Timing is everything."

"I suppose with Cam Newton tied to a cheapo 1 year deal it makes sense but it is not often a team will have two MVP QBs on their roster. Bellichick is going for a do it this year with his free agent splurge. Hey, it worked for the Bucs."

That would be a proper pair of TEs. Any side would struggle to cover those two.

"Completely agree with all of that except the 'not signing with the Fish' bit. For my money, Gesicki is the most underrated TE in the league, and being able to line up 2 TE formations with Pitts and Gesicki will help Tua a lot IMO."

"So the Jets, for example, HAVE to take QB Wilson at #2 now that they've ditched Darnold. But while Wilson is an excellent QB prospect, he isn't ready for the NFL immediately in quite the same way that Penei Sewell is ready. Sewell could have started at tackle, or guard, for most NFL sides last season - let alone this year. It's probably the same with Pitts at TE. Rationally speaking, they might be the two best players in this draft - even above the so-called 'stud' QB Lawrence (who does look very good). Sides just spend, spend, spend on the eternal search for a stand-out QB. And most, including the Jets, get it wrong too often."

"Isaac, Pitts is a beast - one of the best TEs for years - and I'd be surprised if he does not go in the top eight picks. Possibly top five. Like Sewell, he looks like a nailed-on 'best on the board' pick behind the usual rush to over-value QBs. I'm just fingers-crossed he doesn't sign with the Fish! If drafting sides were rational, Sewell and Pitts would be top three. But so many sides with high picks now need QBs. I'd be amazed if five out of the first eight picks are not QBs (Jags, Jets, 49ers, Broncos and Bears). Yet you just know that 5 out of the best 8 players are NOT QBs. At least one side, likely two, will over-reach on a QB again, as in previous years. I'm just hoping it's not the Jets!"

"sad to hear that one of my favourite non skins defenders, Steve Mcmichael has been struck down with Lou Gehrig's disease. he's dealing with it in his usual brave, humorous way but it's sad seeing the big man struggling https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8AHIDOriDI for the skins in the draft, I don't expect us to move up so I'll be happy with a LB of OT in the first round (Owusu Koramoah, Zaven Collins or Christian Darrisaw), a TE or QB in round two (Teddy Tremble or Davis Mills) and a S in round 3 (Hamsah Nasirildeen). after that it will be best player available"

No mention of the TE Pitt? I would love (LOVE) him to still be on the board when Miami pick at 6.

Chief's trade their first round pick (31st). To the Ravens for Orlando Brown.! Now no one is going to lay a glove on Mahomes.

"Draft week arrives (starts on Thursday) - and it's shaping up to be a genuinely interesting draft this year, rather than the usual overhyped event that relies on the first round and not a lot else. For months, it was thought that the biggest decision was that facing the Jets at #2, because of the 'will they, won't they' decision over Darnold. But new HC showed some firm decision-making (promising!) and moved on from still-talented Darnold, hiving him off to Carolina. So it's now obvious that the Jets will take Zach Wilson at #2 behind the Jaguars' obvious #1 pick for Trevor Lawrence. It has become increasingly clear that that's fucked over Saleh's old side the 49ers, who spent a lot of cash and picks moving up to #3 - it seems on the assumption/(then) strong chance that Wilson would still be on the board. Now, he won't be, so the 49ers are going to 'spending' a lot on the next-best QB in the draft. Except that they can't make up their mind who that is likely to be. Justin Fields looked nailed-on just a few weeks ago, but for some reason the talent scouts didn't like his workouts and reels as much as they thought. So it's the 49ers, not the Jets, who face the big decision in the draft now: Fields, Mac Jones or Trey Lance? All very good college QBs - all with a few chinks in their armour. Personally, I think Fields remains a good QB and would suit the 49ers. But it looks less likely they will go that way. Elsewhere, arguably the best player in the draft - and a nailed-on NFL starter from day one - is Penei Sewell, offensive lineman. Any side looking to lock-down their QBs safety will opt for him. Ja'Marr Chase is rated as the best WR, and will no doubt go very early on. But there is real depth at WR this year and some sides in the mid first round and second round will pick up some excellent wideouts without spending an awful lot on picks/salary. There will probably even be some genuinely 'very good' WRs on the board in the third round. Keep an eye out for Marshall, who is Chase's team-mate at LSU and the sort of big, strong target who will excel with the right QB. Nobody's talking about him, because Chase gets the attention at LSU. But the other big unspoken in the draft is the quality and depth of defenders. So many sides have pressing needs on offense, that it's possible that the first eight or so picks will all be offensive players. Yet there are some absolute bangers on defense: Micah Parsons and Phillips (linebackers) look like excellent propsepcts and in other years would go inside the top-five. Likewise, Surtain and Holt (CBs). Again, though, it's the depth of defensive talent that will make the difference this year. There will be 'good' players still available into the 4th round. A few big, quick, all-round pass rushers look like they will go in the middle rounds. It probably won't be a 'class of '83' year. But a lot of sides are going to pick up 'unglamorous players who stay in the NFL for years."
