"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

Another win for the Fins despite Justin Fields' running efforts. Fields had the knack of escaping pressure and finding the holes as the DBs were all on coverage. One shocking throw by Tua on 4th and 1 as he managed to underthrow a 15 yard dunk by miles. A win is a win.

"Great win for the Jets, that. And what I loved about it was not only that we beat Allen and the high-flying Bills, but that it was all about our defense and - finally - Saleh. The head coach is stepping up now. The big improvements this season have been down to many things, including GM Joe Douglas' drafting, the return (after pre-season injury) of a talented QB now settling into his second year - and big improvements on offense led by an excellent new WR1 (G Wilson) and, until his season-ending injury, a superb running back in Hall. But now the long-tepid defense is really stepping up - and that is on Saleh finally. He's got them playing a mini version of his hard-hitting 49ers Super Bowl defense. He's still not calling plays, which I'd prefer, but he has narrowed the defensive playbook and it now looks a lot more like HIS playbook. We're throwing fewer shapes at opponents and focusing more on quality and players knowing their jobs. Part of that is because the defense is so young - so he's not over-complicating the playbook for the likes of Sauce. But it's working well and the HC has to take credit for that - up until the past few weeks I couldn't really see an effect he was having. Our only problem now is a very long injury list. Hall is a huge loss. What a running back he was, even if it was just for a few weeks. Now out until next season."

Nice to see the offense finally turn up Not sure if it's cos pollard was finally let loose with Zeke injured but 14 Carry's for over130 yards at over 9 yards per carry with three rushing TD's is pretty clear who needs to be the No.1 back Dak back throwing some dimes but can he do it when it matters Nice by week to try and get some of our boys healthy then back with a tough away day at the vikings

"Jets are 5-2, baby! But fecking hell our side is proper bashed up. Long injury list getting longer. Lost the superb running back Breece Hall to a cruciate tear, and Vera-Tucker from the offensive line. Both out for the season. Huge losses. We're running out of players just as we're getting it right, tactically, for the first time in years."

Bucks look done today The NFC South looking like the Whistling Dixie Division this season. If the Falcons also lose. Panthers and Saints 2-5 and a game out of first.

If Mcaffrey stays fit that is a bargain. As the Rams showed last year you do not need a lights out QB to win the Superbowl if the rest of the team works.

"Niners have traded their 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the next draft and 5th rounder in 2024 for Christian MCAffrey of Carolina. The Rams were all in on him too but Niners got their man. He played his college ball at Stanford so he is coming home. Gave up a lot to get him, hope he stays healthy""¶.. But Deebo and mcAffrey with Kittle and Aiyuk is a thing of beauty. Niners still have 3 3rd round compensatory pix in the draft for coaches who left, so we still have draft capital""¶""¶ We are all in on the Super Bowl this year."

We compare NFL teams to Premier League teams a lot. Not a huge amount in common between West Ham and the Saints except the ability to pile up an injury list. Very decent Saints WR corps built up in the off season - top three out (see West Ham at centre back) Bradley Roby (Lattimore out) covering Chase yesterday allows the latter to break out of disappointing start to the season. (Sound familiar) And yet the Saints are one game out of first place.

Good to see the Bills and Chiefs have a run through of their championship game to see who will go on to get smashed by the mighty Eagles. The Birds are the most complete team in the NFL right now. Happy days.

What they do have to do is get to grips with the play clock. A fair few times this season teams have got away with the play clock hitting zero before snapping it and been allowed to run the play. The Ravens actually scored on a play last night snapping it at least a second after the play clock hit zero. This is something that should be reviewable by the refs. It's not hard to police it properly and spot infractions.
