"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"jacoby represents himself, so straight away you avoid the parasitical elements attached to other players. I like him and don't want him going anywhere, especially as it seems some teams may have a bounty on howell (after what I watched sunday). jacoby's currently on a one year $8m deal, of which $7.5m is guaranteed. wentz is a nice person but he has footballing ptsd. not sure if it's all the bad injuries he's had, but he plays scared and that's no good in the nfl"

"Still think we should have gone for Mayfield or Jimmy G, but Woody went all in on Rodgers and will pay around £4m per play for it! Not Rodgers' fault, of course."

"TM - yeah, I read that about Brisset. Is he any good? I don't know exactly how it works under the new rules, but I guess the Jets will put Rodgers on IR - offsetting a chunk of his wages (PRP bonuses, presumably). It means they have cap space of around $9m to bring in a veteran, presumably as back-up to Wilson. There's also talk of Wentz, who's a free agent. But I'm not sure I'd bother. Just go with Zach and push the fucker - hard."

I don't celebrate it - but i certainly don't feel sorry for him. Not a huge amount of sports people I dislike - but he's one.

"a washington fan channel put it out there that you may enquire about brissett from us. no idea what it would cost, I don't want it to happen but he's a very reliable player ready to step in to a starting role"

"I genuinely feel for Rodgers: nobody could have expected that freak injury just four plays into his Jets career. But I do think it highlights the problem of shaping your franchise so heavily around one man - which is sort of what the Jets did over the summer: right down to bringing in Rodgers' offensive co-ordinator from Green Bay. Thankfully, the attempt to give Rodgers at run at the Super Bowl meant the Jets also invested in some other talent, and we now need to rely on them - and the youngsters on what was already a promising roster - to step up this season. I was always a bit unsure of going all in on Rodgers. But I feel for the guy. Now we have to go back to the flawed Zach Wilson. I just hope some of Rodgers' experience and nous has rubbed off on the kid."

"A few good signs last night, despite the huge injury to Rodgers: A) Garrett Wilson is a superb receiver. Did you see his game-levelling catch? Not many who have the speed of thought, and hands, to do that. B) Jordan Whitehead must live in Josh Allen's head. Three picks. Could have been more. C) Zach Wilson looked fired up for once, after the injury to Rodgers. The kid has flaws, but also talent. Big sign when he got picked off and was the first to smash into the Bill who made the interception. Tidied up his own mess: he wouldn't have done that last season. He needs to step up now. He should gather the team together, apologise for being an immature punk last term, get his team-mates behind him and push on. The Rodgers era might well be over in New York. Time to knuckle down and do the hard yards again."

"FMOB! You just couldn't make this up, could you?! Early reports say it's a ""season ending""ù injury. We'll find out with the MRI today. I just laughed: we're used to the worst, spectacularly bad outcome! Welcome to the world of the cursed Jets! PS - did sneak the win, though. Wilson had better dust off those playbooks."

Well we played rather well The pass rush was insane and they simply couldn't cope Funny thing is Pollard apart the offence never really got going and we still scored 33 in the first half. In fact we were 13 up before our offence had even been on the pitch!!! Parsons was unstoppable but I did tell you that. I'm not sure he was given them all but I'm pretty sure he got 3 sacks

"Nutsin, I take your broad point, fella, of course. But Pittsburgh is currently on Eastern Daylight Time - not Eastern Standard. It differs by one hour, and moves back to EST in November. Glad I could fully educate you... ;-)"

"Southbank Pittsburgh is on Eastern Standard time. San Fran is on Pacific Standard time. Playing a team at 1 pm local on the Eastern time zone is and always has been considered a disadvantage for west coast teams. Because of the 3 hour time difference. Glad I could educate you, unless of course you're gonna say Pittsburgh isn't on the coast like a wanker would, to hide his embarrassment."

"Zeb, Yep, the pace in the Fish side - with the likes of Hill - is exceptional and they are a real threat with it. But I can't bring myself to ""enjoy"" watching them: I'm genetically programmed to dislike them! My gut feeling is that they will start like a train this season, and everybody will get very excited while their best players are fit and flying around at breath-taking speed. Then one or two of their sprinters will take big knocks, and things will (literally) slow down for them. I just hope the Jets bruising secondary delivers the blows before they tear us up..!"

southbankbornnbred 9:59 Mon Sep 11 Great game and I hope that the Tua/Hill show carries on all season. It would help my fantasy team a lot. Fins defence is a bit worrying mind but I don't care about that today. Annoyingly that game was only one that wasn't live on Gamepass for some inexplicalbe reason but was on NFL Redzone. Jordan Love stepping in for Rodgers effortlessly was quite something.

"Cough - been saying for a while that, when he's healthy, Mayfield is a better QB than people give him credit for. He's unlikely to be a league MVP, but the guy is annoyingly determined, has a bit of ""fuck you"" about him - and he is a street fighter-style QB. He'll throw some turgid stuff at times, but he is a scrapper and he'll find ways to move his offense. He's a good choice to go to Tampa after Brady, because he won't pretend he's #12. His problem will be staying healthy with that dodgy shoulder. That, and the fact that he spent too long in Cleveland - the graveyard of souls."
