Jack Draper US Open now
22yo next English/Brit 6ft 4 big hope currently playing in the US Open against Aussie No. 10 De Minaur if anyone's interested..
All the usual big hitters are already out with Medvedev and Sinner remaining that could potentially stop him going all the way, if De Minaur doesn't.
His all round game is actually quite decent, especially for one so young. Struggled with injuries in the past though that's hampered his progress.
Best of British, lad.

Re: Jack Draper US Open now
You don’t work for the Lawn Tennis Association do you, Rug?
It’s the sort of attitude that has meant an Englishman hasn’t won a Men’s Singles Grand Slam title for almost 90 years.
Ironically that winner at several of those was the working class Fred Perry who was massively disrespected by the LTA as he wasn’t ’one of us’.

Understand his father was the former head of the Lawn Tennis Association which says a bit about the talent pool English tennis is drawing from.
Need to use all those Wimbledon profits to expand the reach to juniors from all backgrounds
Kids from da streetz do not want to play tennis, you gimp. Would be a complete waste of money.
It's a posh wankers games, played by cunts, watched by cunts, and will forever be thus.

Draper has the ability to compete at the top level but needs to sort his physicality and mental game
Didnt see the match but understand the
was due to anxiety & nerves rather than dealing with NY heat & humidity.

Sinner v Tiafoe in the final
The ginger must be the overwhelming favourite

Re: Jack Draper US Open now
Granted it's not in a Grand Slam however he has beaten both Sinner and Alcaraz at Queens and went toe to toe with Sinner today before his body suddenly internally combusted. So it's possible and experiences like this one at just 22yo stand him in good stead after an awful injury hit career already.
Laura Robson though... serious bit of gash.

Re: Jack Draper US Open now
Fucking great entertainment. Draper constantly chucking his guts up after heat exhaustion, doesn't wait to meet it cleaned up properly and decides to drag his sweaty towel around the court instead. His ginger Moyes lovechild world No.1 Sinner landing badly on his wrist whilst still managing to win an enthralling point. Umpire calls for Doctor, he looks confused which patient to attend to first. High drama of the highest order and it's only just the start of the 3rd Set!
If Draper pulls this victory off now it would be a herculean effort after just being led off to the Doctors Room looking close to collapse.

Re: Jack Draper US Open now
Not sure you can judge too much on junior champions
Doesnt seem to often translate into the senior game
With Nadal done & Djokovic on the downhill slope it’s time for the next generation
If he can sort his body out Draper has the chance to move into a group of early 20’s types like Alcarez & Sinner.
He is behind them in achievement as he has struggled with injury
This tournament has opened up with Djokovic & Alcarez going out early so you’d expect the winner of the first semi to beat Fritz or Tiafoe
The last English winner of the Men’s US Open singles was Fred Perry in 1936

Re: Jack Draper US Open now
Future of British tennis seems bright
2 of the 4 junior women semi finalists at the US Open are Brits
1 lad in the boys last 4
And 1 girl in the doubles semi
BTW, Laura Robson, bloody gorgeous !!!

Re: Jack Draper US Open now
Impressive to not drop a single Set and now in the Semi's. Even more impressive considering he pulled up with a slight muscle injury to his hamstring during the 2nd Set and still won comfortably. Hopefully his old injury issues don't come back to haunt him once again but thankfully didn't stop him today.
Next match will be the hardest game and whoever wins that I reckon wins the Tournament.
What is encouraging is I think he's here to stay fighting against the best at just 22yo now.
