The best west ham YouTube channel IMHO.  babbling irons have been saying all along that lopetegui isn't suited to premier league football. Watching that today it looks like they may well be right.  This tucking the full back inside that he favours isn't working . it looks alien to the players and supporters alike. The gaps it leaves  you could drive a juggernaut through the defence and midfield. Hopefully he'll turn it around. but unless he sets up in a way that the players are comfortable with it won't happen .

Moyes wasn’t the answer to take us forward. And I fear lopetegui isn’t either on evidence so far. I got our beers in just before the end and watched people filing out - it was like a funeral

Abject performance today and as the French say “Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.”
We played badly for most of last season yet we finished in the top half despite a relegation level defending.

Here we are with a new manager and several new players to choose from and we still cannot defend. The more things change the more things stay the same and it is both frustrating and disappointing. This season  after just five games the same questions are being asked as the last time around and as yet there is not even a hint of any satisfactory answers. Granted our three home defeats have been against top teams but today’s game ( worst of the three defeats imho ) indicates to me that any EPL team that visits us has strong grounds for optimism.

Batten down the hatches.

Are you saying Ward-Prowse didn’t have a load of free kick opportunities that were utter shit last season, Trundle? I lost count of the times commentators said he was stepping up equal or beat Beckham’s record or whatever it is, and that’s just the games I didn’t go to!

Please can people stop the “this wouldn’t have happened under Moyes” bollocks. Just because it isn’t working out so far doesn’t mean moving on was wrong. It means the appointment was, if it continues this way. Don’t forget Moyes shipped 5 to these, Fulham and Palace in the league before you bang on about how good we were defensively under him!

Just got back from that. Wish I had followed the mob that left after the second goal went in. They were right, would have been better down the pub.

The 'early days' argument has surely expired now. The first half sub was a sensible one in my opinion but the rest smacked of desperation. I don't think he has a plan from here and as others have said it's beginning to look like he is losing the players. Playing like this the only points I can see us picking up between here and November are against Ipswich. And if we lose that then we are slipping into a relegation fight. I know that's classic knicker wetting talk for some but I am very despondent about this season.

What the fuck was that performance. No energy, no desire, no discernable style, no clue, I've no idea what they were supposed to be doing.
I was at the game and for the first time in my life I left 10 mins early as we could still be playing now and we wouldn't have scored.
Looked at one point today that Source was RB & CB whilst AWB and Mavrapanos were often high up the pitch.completely out of position whilst we were continuously undone by simple balls behind the defence.
Was Mavrapanos at fault for any goals today?

What the fuck is going on with Todibo, a player we chased for 3 months who was wanted by a couple of European giants,  can't get a kick whilst the defence is once again leaking goals for fun.

To be honest as said below the manager picked the team most wanted apart from maybe Todibo for Mavro
In the end we were lethargic and gave them 3 soft goals
This idea of tucking AWB in meant we wide open on the right for goals 1 & 3. Suppose the idea is to stiffen up the middle but goal 2 was from a straight ball that they walked in centrally
Summerville (& Kudus) were the only ones showing energy & spark so obviously got dragged after 54 mins
A decision that was quite rightly booed
Its been 3 difficult home games with Villa , City & Chelsea but the manager has a lot of thinking to do
Today was nowhere near good enough

I'm not going to entertain any "Lop-out" bandwagon yet. I predicted this might be a season of struggle to try and get away from the Moyes philosophy. New manager, new players, new style, it does not happen overnight. We wanted this change, we need to knuckle down, get behind it and have a little faith.

That said, today did have me worried. Two very soft goals had us beaten inside twenty minutes. Paqueta has been a waste of space and is just not having the impact we need him to have. Mavropanos is a defensive liability.  Some baffling substitutions, almost the experimental sort you make playing a non league side pre season, including taking off Summerville who was a bright spot resorting back to the old guard. I don't see us scoring enough goals and have a feeling Fulkrug is not going to be the answer either

Lop has to get down to work on the training ground and sort this out, and we desperately need one or two more in January too.

Biggest concern for me was that if you didn't know the manager had only just got here that performance looked like manager had lost the players.  As said below no intensity, effort and pace but even after the transfer window we still have the equal oldest average age of squad in the division which is extremely worrying considering pace, or lack of it has been an issue for several years.

I'm not over surprised because I wasn't convinced by the appointment.  Even though it was time for Moyes to go it really seems that five or six odd managers turned us down before Sullivan went to Lop and opened his wallet for in my opinion a very underwhelming transfer window.  Rodriguez is 30, does he really play for Argentina?  Over 25 million on a 31 year old Fulkrug, Andy Irving who has never even got into the Scotland side,  Guilherme who we haven't even seen and Todibo who can't even get in ahead of Mav.  Kilman has looked decent until today although I think he was over priced, Summerville I think will come good once he gets used to the PL and Wan-Bissaka is a good player if he puts a bit of effort in.  Is Tim Steidten really the Messiah as these don't look much of an upgrade to Haller, Kehrer, Aguerd and Ward-Prowse!

Hope Lop proves me wrong but it looked like no-one knew what they were doing out there today.  Even your fairly consistent regulars aren't performing.  Bowen isn't on song, Kudus looks miserable, Paqueta looks like he wants to be elsewhere and Alvarez looks like he is running through treacle.

Well that was pretty dire.

No idea what our tactics were in that first half. Neither did the players by the looks of it. I hope we're not trying to shift AWB into some hybrid TAA type position.

It's ironic we've had quite a few free kicks in JWP territory already this season.

I have deliberately not commented on our progress this season in the vain hope I was wrong about the manager and the new signings.

However, in my 53 years as a supporter, i have never see such a lack of football knowledge that I have seen today.

Our new signings (other than summerville) have been dire.  We have wasted a huge amount of money on a distinct lack of skill.

Our new manager has not got a clue.  There is a reason he was the wolves manager. Even Bilic was better.

Never in our history have we lost the opening 3 home games.

We are the sheffield united of last season.

People hated Moyes, but this would not have happened under him.

We have to stop the rot now, and get rid of this excuse of a manager, loan out some of the new signings to clubs of their level (Sutton Ltd, Northampton town) and start knuckling down as professional footballers.

Todibo's loan becomes permanent after quite a low number of games I think, so it looks like we are already trying to wriggle out of that.
Soler looks like he could be a decent addition but I think he will be red carded in the next 5 games.
I cant see Fullkrug getting double figues in that system. Worried about AWB and Kudus' body language today. Set pieces look very average and Paqueta needs dropping but other than that, well done

I'm sure the people who were unhappy last season when we won 3-1 with less than 25% possession are much happier today as we had over 50% possession.

Feels pretty clear to me that either Kudus, or Bowen, has to play 10 and Paqueta plays deeper as an 8 or not at all.

Summerville was good today. Throwing Kudus out there is no good for him or the team.

Our home games have been tough. Fourth place, Champions and one of the rich teams not captured by the rules. We’re four from six away which is as expected thereabouts.

Jury hasn’t retired but is out. Four points needed from the next two and if we beat Brentford, that becomes six as an absolute must. If that happens, things don’t look so bad.

The thing that stood out the most for me was the total lack of intensity , and the players just appeared "not up for it". Poor body language.
Considering the opposition....only 5 games into a new season with a new "head coach"....that's very concerning.
Victims up next...can't fookin' wait for that one

Quite apart from the fact that he plays in the same position as our two best players, Guilherme seems to be a disaster... and what have you seen from Rodriguez, Soler or Fullkrug that suggests any of them will add anything significant to the cause?

I really think we had a bang average window. And that's not revisionism.

We still need 2 new fullbacks, a dynamic midfielder and a couple of centre forwards
