Was also prepared that things might take some time and wasn't expecting miracles over night What I didn't expect was a manager who after spending 6 weeks with the total dross he'd been left by Moyes would deem them fit to start in a premier league game And low and behold all of them played absolute shit
We're now 1 game in and none of our new players are any closer to bedding in or learning anything from their new team mates cos they barely spent a second on the pitch, half of them not at all I think it's gonna take somewhere between 6-10 games before we see the team anyone with an ounce of sense would play cos this bloke can't identify shit when he see's it I thought we was handed a miracle at half time when we went in level and low and behold he changed nothing I'm sure people are gonna make excuses for him and say it's too early to judge

Remember that under Grant we occasionally turned up, w even put 4 past Man U to book a Semi Final place but the overall trend was one of abject failure. We've all seen this before, we have to be bold, be brave and move early because other teams so will. For once we need to be first out of the gate.

Alvarez asked to man mark Jackson without the pace & physicality to do it
AWB positioned anywhere but right back leaving a gaping hole (goals 1 & 3)
Mavropanos incapable of sensing danger & shuffling across to assist
Manager is seriously under pressure & needs a complete rethink on structure & what the hell he is doing
Taking off Summerville after 54 mins when he was our biggest threat (& should have had a pen) just summed up his dismal day

I think yesterday just highlighted even more, unfortunately, that this isn’t going to be easy moving from Moyesball to having a team that plays out from the back, has more possession and presses the other team.

No. We had a good transfer window (which we might still have, if we don’t panic) not a great one.
Lopetegui probably didn’t help by saying he wanted to make a ‘big noise.’
But I suppose, we are living in a day and age, where managers are expected to come out with these hyperbole sound bytes.
The biggest problem I think we have at the moment, is that Alvarez (still unfit from his injury) and Rodriguez (not up to speed with the PL ) are not pressing enough - hence the reason, teams are just cutting through us like a knife through butter.
The wide men don’t know if they’re coming or going it looks disjointed, and is giving the opposition, the freedom and confidence to stroll through us.
If Alvarez was 100% fit, we might have got away it, but he isn’t.
For me, I think it now makes more sense, as to why maybe JL has been playing Antonio and Soucek, (apart from not putting their noses out of joint) - he probably realises (at this moment in time) Alvarez and Rodriguez aren’t up to the press, so we’re probably better served ( I hate myself for saying this) playing Moyesball at the moment.
Problem is, we’ve ended up not being one thing, or the other, for the majority of the games.
Until, Todibo gets up to speed, starts playing and the Alvarez/Rodriguez problem sought sits self out, we might have to go back to a more pragmatic way of playing.
I don’t know this for certain, but I think JL played that way to get Wolves out of trouble, when he took over there.
Not ideal, but needs must.
He’s in a bit of a damned if does, damned if he don’t situation.
If he plays pragmatically, he’ll be moaned at for being just like Moyes. If we try to press, we’ll be ripped apart.
I understand the poor fuckers who are paying big money to follow the club week in, week out will be furious after yesterday performance. None of us are happy at what happened.
But now won’t be the time to throw toys out of the pram (at the ground), at least.
We’ve had our backs to the wall plenty of times in the past, and come through stronger for it.
Remember, JL has previous for getting Wolves out of the shit and let’s have some perspective - we’ve been beaten by 3 teams in very good form ( carrying over from last season) in the league.
Time for a bit of patience and resilience, chaps ( as difficult as that is, at the moment).

Hmm, embarrassed myself...I said I'd employ Fonseca not the Cowley brothers. It'ss not working out in Milan but that happens to alot of managers, his Lille team were excellent and better than anything on Sloppy's CV. He'd have been my choice in the summer and I'll stand by that.

I'll hazard a guess that Liverpool's kids and stiffs do worse to Sloppypeggy on Tuesday night and without the dignity of scoring one in reply. Just look at his post match interview on the BBC and read his face, the man is utterly shellshocked, it's over. It's sad, I wanted it to work but it isn't and the most alarming is how passively we surrender, make no effort to harass the opposition when out of possession and look completely impotent in possession. As for needing one's head tested for picking Emerson Royal, what's the medical intervention for picking Antonio, Soucek as a 10, Mavropanos over Todibo, a clearly broken Paqueta?

It's a shame but there you are, we gambled and we lost. The important thing now is to move early to correct the mistake while the season can still be salvaged.
