Soucek seems to be the glue that's holding it all together at the moment.
against CFC he came on and steadied the ship..for a struggling side , the likes of soucek are vital.
Strange individual..
On the pitch, in many ways , he has all the credentials to be a proper  skipper.. but he just comes across as  too  easy- going  and soft to get to grips with the piss-takers.

Shame.

He gives his all...proper 100% - er.
I fink we all need to have a word with ourselves and remember who we were and what we were .

Kudas and Emerson off at half time and Mavropanos brought on to play right back, at least right back is further away from the goal so he can't fuck up as bad. This Manager is a fool
I thought Mavrapanos looked decent at right back...he's played there before for previous clubs.
Brentfords 9 players out is a bit of a misnomer..most are not starters.
but as with most fings these days..see fings how you wanna see em...and fuck the reality

I agree with most of that Mikey..his subs at half time actually worked out for him though.

It was a fucking shambles today, including the subs.

Kudus was our best player? I agree he was our player that played the most skilfully, but he really did not contribute much did he? His final balls to make a chance for someone to to shot were not very good. Parqueta also very skilful, also making his usual errors, but for me was out best player. As Fraser said he made our goal and created a lot more scoring opportunities.
The thing that pisses me off most is our non-existent play from the back and Areola's poor distribution of the ball. Long kicks straight to Brentford. When will we stop doing that?

Difficult to see what Lopetegui is doing…

Bit of a clusterfuck at times…

lots of goal attempts…few on target…and only one scrambled in…

Bowen…Paqueta…Rodriguez…Soler…Kudus need to improve …

Brentford there for the taking …many missing in lineup…

too Many short passes …easily lose possession…

More training pitch drills …quick switch to attack from defence…

Seeing some improvement…much more needed to justify 150million spend…

I'm trying to work out if JL doesn't leave his favourites on like Moyes used to do or if he has his own favourites!  Strange decision with Kudus, unless something was said at half time, but I do have sympathy with the guy as on the left isn't his position as cutting inside for a shot leaves him on his weak foot.  I'd personally give him a go up front, his strength and pace would trouble teams and when running with the ball he wouldn't have four to go past!  That would leave Bowen in his favoured position and allows Summerville on the left, although I think both Kudus and Bowen are struggling with the lack of counter attack now as obviously if you are on the front foot you have more defenders in front of you.,  Bowen also looks like the Captaincy is affecting his game, he isn't vocal and not an elite like say Bobby Moore that you can just lead by example.  Mind you who else would you give it to, Soucek, Kilman?!

Emerson was a liability first half and hasn't been on song this season, although very few have.  Good decision to hook him on a yellow card as a red may have been forthcoming.  Thought it bizarre to put Mav at right back but at the same time Brentford had four centre backs in defence so it may have been a counter to their threat at corners and free kicks.  Thought Mav played ok there to be honest.

Defensively thought we looked a bit better.  AWB could turn into a fabulous player if used correctly and I like Tobido although worry a tad that he is a bit easy oozy when we will come under constant pressure from teams.  Early days though and he shows promise and hopefully the start of a good understanding with Kilman.  At least we have two centre halves who can run this season!

Still not sure what JL is trying to do though.  All a bit individual out there.  As I said surprised with the Kudus sub and baffled when he took Paqueta off and whilst not totally on song I thought he was at least trying to make things happen.  Still think he would be better in a deeper role though alongside someone else and that would free up No10 for Kudus if JL won't try him up front.  Not sure where Soler fits in though although he showed a few nice touches.

Still not sure we got recruitment right though, I am hoping Rodriguez comes good but haven't really worked out what he is good at yet.

AWB was excellent IMO.  Saved 2 certain goals and was positive going forward.
Agreed. Want to see him going for at least a couple of overlaps per spell though.

We were more compact than previous games, and looked more secure albeit against relatively poor opponents.

I think we controlled possession better than last couple of games, but when it when 1-1 we looked a bit ragged.

I don’t think anyone stuck out as particularly good. Emerson was poor and rightly hooked.

Some people are amazing. One player consistently doing their job was Paqueta, and his happened to be creating scoring opportunities thanks to which we get a point. Yet he was a “passenger” according to some. Baffling.

By the way, thought Mavropanos did well today as full back.
