Lopetegui (sacked 8.1.2025)
I was thoroughly looking forward to the start of this season
Was also prepared that things might take some time and wasn't expecting miracles over night What I didn't expect was a manager who after spending 6 weeks with the total dross he'd been left by Moyes would deem them fit to start in a premier league game And low and behold all of them played absolute shit
We're now 1 game in and none of our new players are any closer to bedding in or learning anything from their new team mates cos they barely spent a second on the pitch, half of them not at all I think it's gonna take somewhere between 6-10 games before we see the team anyone with an ounce of sense would play cos this bloke can't identify shit when he see's it I thought we was handed a miracle at half time when we went in level and low and behold he changed nothing I'm sure people are gonna make excuses for him and say it's too early to judge
But from what I've just seen today, this cսnt is David Moyes in a mission impossible mask

Re: Lopetegui
If that’s true re Southampton it confirms my view that getting promoted is often the worst thing Championship managers can do.
Martin does a brilliant job to get them promoted & is in danger of the sack after 5 games?
Ludicrous

Re: Lopetegui
A win against Ipswich just buys him some time to try to get things right during the break with less pressure. A win won't mean anything though if we then lose to Spurs and Man Utd.
Re: Lopetegui
We have one more point and a five goal better goal difference compared with the same fixtures last season. Not a massive improvement, but probably not fair to be screaming to sack the manager at this point. Certainly no need to panic.
Re: Lopetegui
So the mindset is , a narrow win against Ipswich and everything in the garden is rosy?
Au contraire, the mindset is more like having remained unbeaten away from home the game against Ipswich, a bottom rather than a top team, will give fans a measure of where we are.
For me, six games in, it gives us a chance to say that we will win based on the form of both teams using head not heart to make the assessment. A win though does not mean we are sitting pretty by any means.

Re: Lopetegui
Agree Goose.
We’re slightly better off in terms of points and goal difference compared to the same fixtures last year as well (mainly driven by conceding 8 less goals).
Clutching at positives really but a win against Ipswich will hopefully relieve a bit of pressure and give the squad some breathing space to continue to implement whatever it is Lop is trying to get across to them.

Re: Lopetegui
You could also say we’ve played 4 of the current top 6 in our first 6 games.
Five if you start including cup games.
I’m not saying it’s been anywhere near what I was hoping for, but yesterday was an improvement and there’s no way he’ll be sacked anytime soon.
Beating Ipswich is a must, but I wouldn’t expect us to destroy them. A clean sheet would be nice.

FFS scoring hasn't been an issue recently so not only has this twat failed to fix the defence he's broken the attack. Why is he still here? Get him out now.
The defensive stats aren't any better. In 4 games
we've conceded in the first 10 minutes. First 5 minutes in three of them.

...and considering the absolutely garbage summer recruitment

Do West Ham fans have some previous with him from his Blackburn days or is he just being obtuse for the attention and click bait purposes? Just a cock I think. To be fair I've just reread this weeks and it's not quite as clearly antagonistic as he has been but it's still quite barbed. Mockingly referring to 'the West Ham way' and a dash of the standard 'careful what you wish for'.
'Julen Lopetegui needs a result and he needs a performance, the West Ham way... whatever that is under him.Their fans wanted a change, and they got the change... and I think they have expected a much better start than the one they have got.'
He's from NORFOLK...

Exactly this. The best owners leave it to the experts. Snyder absolutely was an egomaniac and holding that club back. It’s no coincidence since Jerry Jones got all star struck the cowboys have won fuck all. It’s also no coincidence that as soon as Kraft started involving himself in affairs and undermining BB that it all started to go tits at the Patriots.
people like the Rooneys or the owners of the Ravens or Eagles just recruit well at senior level and leave it to those employees and they are consistently good well run organisations. There are owners who are well intentioned buffoons as well who try to do the right thing but just have bad judgement. You might include the Maras or Woody Johnson in that category.
The best owners are silent.

It makes senseThis is the problem with businessmen running football clubs, the arrogance and ego wont allow them to believe that a manager/coach could do a better job than them. I've heard Simon Jordan on the radio downplaying the managers importance and although he apparently hates Sullivan I bet they share the same views on running football clubs.
I wouldn’t say it’s all businessmen. Plenty own or run clubs but are able to just trust the football people to do their job with the footballing side of things. But there are some who absolutely have that ego to try and get involved in the football side. Let’s face it this forum is full of people who think they know better than various managers, coaches and DOFs- myself included so it’s probably an easy trap to fall into especially if it’s your money, but that for me is the mark of a bad owner and you’ve got to resist it. Sullivan just can’t help himself. Just like that idiot at Chelsea and Jordan probably too. Sometimes he says some interesting stuff but fuck me he thinks the sun shines out of his own arse. No humility at all.

Agree, Cottee has no opinion of his own but just parrots what he thinks West Ham fans are saying. I don't think there are any of us who don't want to see better results but I do think there are many others like me who wouldn't want a return to Moyes and his low block tactics every game whilst ignoring the replacement of aging and past it regulars.
