Loppy showed faith in Antonio AGAIN, and  going by his performance today, he knew he owed his manager something.
Much better today throughout..

I thought it was a brave decision and one vindicated in the end. It was vintage Antonio, doing what he does best being an absolute nuisance when bang at it. Even the bit where he tackled himself after initially doing some great work going forward late on. Rolled back the years and repaid some of the faith Lopetegui has given him. Spurs next and if that same old school version of Antonio plays, then Spurs are in for yet another terrorising performance by Antonio against them.

Todibo a lot better and would now be first choice with Kilman i would imagine, Bowen looking the player he can be, may have been 4-1 but especially in the first half that scoreline looks harsh on Ipswich.

Happy with the win but still plenty to do IMO.

Getting there, slowly but surely..

Many positives, some negatives but overall a decent display. Can definitely see a change in the way Lopetegui wants us to play. Far more meticulous in our build and unafraid to play Football for long spells. Almost to the point of overplaying at the back but much prefer that than defending for 90% of the game everytime like before. Also notice we're purposely making sure of hitting the target too and get many attempts off as possible at goal. Some of the build up is very easy on the eye, much like the Brentford goal was and hoping that's a permanent feature going forward, although not expecting it in every game. 

Also noticed a more considered desire to press unlike before standing off all the time under the previous regime. Both Kudus and Bowens goal led to pressuring Ipswich defence/Keeper and they coughed up possession with ease when the likes of Antonio were chasing them down. Again, another feature I hope is seen more often than not. We are playing far more proactive in play and even making plenty of substitutions which was often my gripe before. 

Paqueta continues to stink the gaff out and fear his poor form is connected to the betting scandal that continues to haunt him. Playing like his heads gone and not hus usual self playing with ease without much of a care other than showboating. That Paqueta has long checked out and think having him on the bench for a spell might give him time to sort his head out.

Bowen my Man of the Match, leading once again by example with setting goals up and scoring himself. Our gain is Englands loss thanks to Lee Khazi dropping him during this International break.

The much maligned Soucek continued to perform well in consecutive games for us, typically winning the ball back beforr making a quick decisive pass for Bowen to then set up Antonio. If not for a last ditch block on the line or if Kudus wasn't there to head in Antonio's rebound, he would have converted it himself. We have missed his presence in the side when he hasn't been starting and now we are finding form again with him reinstated. 

Todibo continues to impress me ever since he made his starting debut against Bournemouth in the Cup. Very assured just like Kilman and can see that partnership blossoming, as expected. 

Areola continues to remind me of David James. From the sublime to the ridiculous at times, be it his chocolate wrists attempt to stop the diver Delap from scoring, as well as his piss poor distribution. Then pulls off a worldie at the other end. I still feel long term a better Keeper is needed that Lopetegui can trust more but he'll do for now. 

It was only Ipswich but so fucking what. A tonking's still a tonking.

The first half hour you could argue they were slightly on top.
Finished the half well & could / should have had another couple of goals
3-1 just after h/t & then they probably had their best 10 or 15 mins. Finished strongly though & every time Bowen got the ball we looked like scoring.
Better but against a team that will be in the bottom 6 so a lot more still to do.
Todibo was excellent & liked the way he took the ball off the centre forward several times. Him, Kilman & AWB are a big improvement but not convinced by the midfield. Bit one paced with Paqueta Soucek Rodriquez Soler
Good to see Guilherme actually exists & Summerville being sharp after being benched for playing well v Chelsea

Good to go into the international break with a win, Tottenham & Man U next

2 games in a row making positive strides. This one was a much bigger one and opens the pressure valve a bit. A nice way to go into the international break. As others have pointed out, there's obviously a ways to go, but the downward spiral has stopped. I liked how we killed this game off possessing the ball neatly while still taking our shots when they would open up. If that had been Moyes, we would have bunkered in after the third and invited pressure the rest of the match. I also thought 5 subs was smart, taking minutes off the starters legs and giving opportunities to the rest of the team to get up to the speed of the game. We're about where I expected we would be at mid table and likely where we end up.

I watched outside so therefore didn't watch it properly, but a routine home win against a pretty poor side, and a few positives to take. Not sure why fella insists on having to make all 5 subs?

Question is is this a turning point or just some temporary respite?

Ipswich looked a bit like Luton did back in may, full of effort but far too easily dispossessed.

Todibo looks like he might be class and forming a good partnership with Killman.

Guido looked like the pace of the game was far more to his liking this afternoon.

All a bit of a stroll in the sun. But a much needed home win and confidence booster.

I'll take that.

Enjoyable game, decent team performance with some standout individual performances, very impressed with Kilman, Todibo and AWB at the back and Bowen and Kudus a lot better with Antonio doing a decent job up top today.  Ok in midfield, Paqueta a bit better, Soucek had a decent game but still not sure re Rodriguez against better opposition.  Won't get that amount of space from better teams though and Ipswich trying to play out from the back was laughable at times but you have to take advantage of it and it's a good three points.  Soler at left mid with Summerville kicking his heels was bizarre though.  I wonder if the number 10 was going up but then Paqueta scored whilst they were waiting to come on.

Something to build on, I thought the 1st half an hour we were poor especially Paqueta but he got some sort of knock and after that improved alot. Like the look of the centre half pairing. Good to see Bowen and Kudus approaching their best. And fair play to Antonio he kept working and was involved in 3 of the goals.

 

 

Best I've seen Antonio play in quite a while. Put in a lot more effort and looked more hungry.
