Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
I remember when the first Joker film came out and you would hear how dark, depressing and violent it was and it wasn't for the faint of heart etc. I actually held off watching it for a while but didn't find it too much like the above.
I like Phoenix though, We own the night is a cracking film.

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
I read that Phoenix had a dream that he was playing the Joker in a musical and told the director, who then thought 'what a good idea'. Seems that it wasn't Shame, I initially liked the ambiguity of the genres.

Ironically the original is on ITV now and I think it's superb. They could have made the sequel more of a story about Arthur's life and transformation to joker inside Arkham. Whilst Folie a Deux is partly set in Arkham their I'd a lack of storytelling

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
OK, well that was, erm, a total waste of 2.5 hours of my time. If you liked the original JOKER film and are hoping this will be a decent follow up you'll be disappointed.
It's truly awful and yes I can confirm after every 10 minute scene it pans into a musical scene with joker and Gaga.
Best avoided or at least waiting until you can watch for free

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
I just can't understand the logic of doing something completely different to the first one which was such a success.
I mean, we all know why they've done it, but it still doesn't make any sense.

Such a shame they've ruined it.
Yep, slightly dubious it's going to be more a musical than a plot/story of Joker/Quinn

I enjoyed the first Joker film, so off to see Folie A Deux tomorrow.
Reviews are not looking good however.
Also, not sure on the musical element.

Thread title needs updating.
Not a massive film person but enjoyed the Joker so off to see Joker: Folie à Deux in a bit.

Swiss - Admit it, you just wanted to swoon over the old timers Pitt and Clooney
I see Pitt is making an F1 type film, bet it ain't as good as Days of Thunder!

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 and 2022)
I saw a really lovely film last night called Thelma.
Thelma (played by the always brilliant June Squib) gets $10,000 swindled out of her in an Internet scam, goes to Richard Roundtree's old people's home to borrow his mobility scooter, another old bird's for her gun and goes to get her money back.
Lots of tiny nods to Tom Cruise Mission impossible films and the fact that young people get too pampered until they feel that they are useless.
It's a nice hour and a half not thinking about the shitty state of the world, a bit like football used to be.

'Yardie' from 2018, directed by Idris Elba. Had never heard of it but was reco'd by a 'friend' on FB so had a watch. Yea it's OK just about kept my interest, but wasn't as easily pleased as the friend was.
Anyone else seen it?

John Ashton has died, noooo, absolutely brilliant as Marvin is Midnight Run.
