Milton
Anyone else watching the news about this?
I'm watching an American weather channel. Even before the bastard makes landfall, there are waterspouts and major tornados hitting the area. One of them reportedly ripped a metal pole out of its concrete base. I can't get my head around that.
With a bit of luck it won't be as bad as predicted.
They've just reported a FISHNADO! WTF?

Re: Milton
Methought I saw my late espoused saint
Brought to me, like Alcestis, from the grave,
Whom Jove's great son to her glad husband gave,
Rescu'd from death by force, though pale and faint.
As Sid James once said in Hancock's Half Hour: "Poets? Bonkers."

Re: Milton
My criticism is towards the press's weather-hysteria rather than your meteorology-fetish, Nursie.
I think we should go back to the days of 'Small Earthquake in Chile, Not many dead'

Re: Milton
I thought this was going to be a thread about a champion show-jumper (not a blown-up horse, as I originally misremembered), a mad poet or the stuff you use to clean babbies' bottles.
All of which would have been more interesting than a discussion of a routine Florida hurricane. Except the one about the show-jumper.

Re: Milton
So its looking like this storm/cyclone or whatever they are calling it as bad as it has been has not turned into the apocalypse of storms the climate Nazis told us it would be and no worse than bad storms/cyclones/hurricanes, 20/50/100 years ago?

I like the way Americans say THANK GOD I SURVIVED
Didnt GOD send this their way in the first place?
Northern Sold is holed up (literally) in a Miami gay bar and sitting it out. Interrupted his tennis match though

Re: Milton
Watching cctv of all the storm surge flooding just before nightfall out there was chilling. Fingers crossed for as little loss of human life as possible. I think the tornados before the hurricane killed a few. There was a mobile home park smashed to matchsticks.

Re: Milton
I seem to recall the last couple of these critical warnings with hurricanes turned out to be fairly mild once making landfall, suspect this will be the same.
I understand our own deffers is on route, he's one of the very few that you see travelling on the other side of the road.

Re: Milton
A stiff breeze and the septics all run around like headless chickens.
What happened to all that traditional and world renowned yank "Man the fuck up and face down the threat"?
Seems like 9/11 turned them all into bottle jobs.
