Sure. They have the technology. But who will pay for it.? Let alone the cost for everybody who will find themselves on welfare. If they start mass producing fully automotive transportation. That’s a awful lot of people worldwide who be out on their ear. And any great leaders will have a shitload of taxes.(But a shed load of Taxi’s.) Too find.!

I’ve taken the autonomous taxis a few times now.They’re absolutely everywhere here and are proving to be very popular especially amongst women.Prices are comparable to Uber,Lyft,but can skyrocket during peak hours.

Ever used the DLR? Or the Jubilee or Victoria lines?

Of course, but it's a little different given that's a vehicle fixed on a rail on a fixed speed with instructions to merely stop and start at stations. Not on a live road with thousands of route and speed permutations, all sorts of other vehicles and pedestrians not to mention other hazards to have to interact with. And of course there are controls in a DLR train accessible by TFL staff. (I believe there's a staff member on all DLR trains still?)

The Lizzie line trains and I htink Victorian line are also 'driverless' or capable of driving themselves but there is someone in the cab regardless.

Apparently, the unions have agreed an updated policy for TFL driverless trains.

A dog will accompany the operative in the cab of every new driverless train.

The operative's role will be to open & close the doors...and feed the dog.

The dog's role will be to stop the operative from trying to drive the train.
