TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs WEST HAM UNITED (1230)
Ninth plays 12[sup]th[/sup]. We went into the international break with a categorical victory over Ipswich, while Spurs did so having gone 2-0 up at half-time at Brighton but emerging with a 3-2 loss. Chuckle. Spurs are hard to read, having previously beaten Man U (away) and Brentford, but those came after defeats to Arsenal and Newcastle. As for us, we’ve had two defeats (Man C and Chelsea) in the last six. With luck, our recent form may have established a momentum to carry forward into today. This will be a major test for the team and particularly for the boss. Arguably, our two most influential players, Paqueta and Kudus, have been the subjects of much discussion of late. Paq’s fortunes will be decided in the coming months. Of Kudus, Lopetegui says, “we are happy with him for sure." Let’s hope we end the day even happier with him for sure. Defeat will raise the volume of those baying for blood, but avoiding defeat – better still coming away with all three points – will make next week sweet and juicy. Draw.Image

FULHAM vs ASTON VILLA (1500)
It’s hard to separate these two in what promises to be a tight and entertaining game of football. Draw.

IPSWICH TOWN vs EVERTON (1500)
Ipswich’s good form came to a resounding halt last time, while the Toffees are undefeated in their last three and have lifted themselves out of the bottom three. Another tough one to call. Draw.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs BRENTFORD (1500)
Who’d be Ten Haag, other than his bank manager. They managed a creditable goalless draw at Villa last time out but tumbled to a terrible home defeat to Spurs before that. Brentford are strong, but also have to capacity to slip up. Draw.

NEWCASTLE UNITED vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION (1500)
Another game between two sides that are difficult to distinguish. Both have 12 points. Both are chasing a Champions League place. Should be a good game. Draw.

SOUTHAMPTON vs LEICESTER CITY (1500)
The poor old Saints have goal difference to thank for keeping them from rock bottom, having still only mustered a single point from their return to the top flight to date. The Foxes aren’t much better off, albeit with six points, and this could turn out to be a six-pointer come May. Another one with only a Rizla keeping them from each other. Draw.

BOURNEMOUTH vs ARSENAL (1730)
At last a game that doesn’t have draw sprawled large across its programme. (Do the Cherries have the smallest programme print run in the Premier League?) Arsenal are level with Man C and both are a point off leaders Liverpool, who play tomorrow. Bournemouth are a place below us, on goal difference. Away win.

SUNDAY

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS vs MANCHESTER CITY (1400)

The reigning champs visit bottom-of-the-table Wolves. What else can you say? Away win.

LIVERPOOL vs CHELSEA (1630)
The Blues are fourth, the Reds top. Many people will think the force is with Chelsea. Could they be right? They could be – unlikely, though, and once the two sides step onto the Anfield turf we’ll see who’s flying high and who’s walking with company. Draw.

MONDAY

NOTTINGHAM FOREST vs CRYSTAL PALACE (2000)
What a start Forest have made to the season. Tenth now, when in August many people considered them relegation probables. Those same people, and likely many more, will have seen Palace end the campaign in the top half. Right now, they’re in the bottom three, so a little bit of work required on that front. Draw.

CHAMPIONSHIP
Leeds removed Sheff U from the top two last night to move second behind Sunderland. Typically for this division, only goal difference separates the top three, with Burnley, West Brom and Watford snapping away happily in the remaining play-off places. Meanwhile, Millwall site two points above the drop zone and host Derby (12[sup]th[/sup]) this afternoon. QPR, Pompey and Cardiff occupy the bottom three spots.

What has offside got to do with anything?? He clearly wasn't interfering with the keepers eyeline so even if he was 'offside' he wouldn't have been anyway based on not interfering with play, no?

I watched the game, fuck me it's tiresome watching City dominate games, you ain't watching a competitive game of football but just Man City playing, was pretty sick when they inevitably scored. They may be some people's second favourite team, personally I can't stand the cunts. Pep is fine, but will be pleased when he pisses off and gives others a chance.

Silva is allowed to stand in front of the keeper
Moves when the ball is crossed & is in an offside position when Stones heads it but not in the keepers eye line or blocking him in any way.
Completely different to the Kilman header last season where the other Wolves player deliberately stood in front of Fabianski & blocked his view.
Both decisions correct & O’Neill’s whining is tiresome

How can you be in an offside position when a corner is being taken, he can only be offside when the ball is being played forward as soon as it's taken he moves away from the keeper so not offside.

He was in an offside position but not interfering with play when the corner was taken though, the usual players jostling and trying to unsettle each BUT he was interfering (fouling) the goalie in that build up? But your right he wasn't offside when he scored but can see why Wolves are crying foul as well! Engaging with a bit of pushing and pulling and general cuntiness at corners especially around the keeper seems to be ok these days, we have even been accused of it, think Antonio got some stick last season can't remember the game?

But end of the day seems there is nothing to see here so Man City get the winner!

Average age of the Chelsea side was 24, maybe they know what they are doing after all and fancy they will be a force in the coming years.

Do you mean short shrift?

A short sharp shock is what we get most matches.

If and when lopetegui gets the heave ho . And I suspect it's imminent. The new manager has to be announced immediately afterwards.  The Moyes lovers need to be given a short sharp shock . Especially on talkshite .

Agree with others. Oh to have owners and set up of poorer ( financially ) teams like Brighton and even Bournemouth. They have business, finanncial and football aspects all aligned. Appoint progressive coaches, recruit players they can afford that fit a tactical model that is effective in the Premiership.

Sullivan’s influence ultimately holds us back although I would love to know who Steidten’s recuitment picks were other than the young Brazilian. And how the identification of weaknesses and prioritisation of targets worked? What was Lopetegui’s role? Was Sullivan involved?

Lopetegui, as someone else rightly mentioned, seems to think ypu can be effective in the Premiership by playing a high line, with a methodical but slow transition from defence thru midfield and up front or simply hitting long diagonals from back to front.

I keep boring on about Kudus and Wan Bissaka and how effective they are most weeks in what is now a faster and physically demanding ( strength needed on the ball ) Premiership.  We neec more like them especially in central midfield.

summerville still looks too lightweight and Todibo, looks decent, still muscled off the ball by Solanke and a couple of other Spurs attackers a few times. I can see why Lopetegui said he waited to play him in order to build his physicality. He’s got great technique and decent speed but needs to get even stronger. He can do that and it can take a while for many players getting to grips with the Premiership. Many cannot, across all teams ( eg for us… Aguerd, Anderson, Kehrer etc) and they soon go elsewhere. But I do think Todibo can get there.

Soler needs more minutes to see if he can step up to the pace and physical demands of the league and Alvarez needs to be tried again. His issue is discipline and playing him in the correct role.

but to solve our biggest weakness in the centre of midfield is going to require recruitment. Hence high line, slow build up and transition is doomed so Lopetegui may have to slide back more to low block and counter against the top half teams or risk more 3 or 4 or 5 goal drubbings and spending the season just above the drop zone

I thought the three clubs replacing the rubbish that went down last season were going to make the bottom half of the league more competitive, but it looks more of the same, hence why it's near on impossible for us to be relegated now. Seems to be harder than ever now to come up and stay up.

Well the Arsenal result cheered me up a bit😁

See their fans need a scapegoat for the loss which is amusing especially as some have homed in on Howard Webb................He was in the stands and even though he can't make or influence any calls he CAN listen in on the referee's audio which it looked like he was doing, that's been enough to get some Arsenal fans pointy fingered 🤣

Seriously belched my acca up this week, so I've got the right Forrest.

Brentford, Arsenal, Man City & Forest. Leicester (9/5 would double any winnings) is next Friday.

Apart from our game you'd need to hand me a bag of fucks so I could give one about the other matches this weekend.
