Relegation
We need to wake up to the fact that this is now looking distinctly possible and by the time we play Everton will be looking very likely if the clown of a manager is still employed by the clown of an owner.
From today's Guardian - spot on:
Tottenham 4 West Ham 1 Where to begin with West Ham after their 4-1 defeat at Tottenham? Lucas Paquetá is doing nothing to justify his mooching demeanour in attacking midfield. Alphonse Areola is letting in soft goals and his distribution against Spurs was poor. The defence remains leaky and there appears to be a problem with attitude, desire and discipline. Edson Álvarez picked up a ridiculous red card during the 5-1 defeat by Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and the manner of Mohammed Kudus's dismissal against Spurs raises questions over Julen Lopetegui's authority. There is a view that Kudus would not have been scuffling with Spurs players if the squad were fully behind Lopetegui.

Everything I said is fact. They managed a 5 point swing over us in 23 games. 7 wins. Form similar to what the sacked manager had with them the season before. It certainly wasn’t the miracle ‘Club with less resources, who weren't given a cat in hells chance of staying up’ nonsense you’re desperately shilling.

And no, I don't regard surviving a relegation battle as any kind of success for us now, just that I don't fear going down with him in charge. What a load of bollocks. He took over in November when they were only 4 points behind us. Wolves finished top half the season before.
In contrast, Villa were 2 points behind us, level with Wolves when they bombed Gerrard for Emery, and they finished 7th with 22 more points.
Lopetegui has proven nothing in the PL.
Only 1 talking bollocks is you. Yes he did take charge of his 1st game at the Club rooted to the bottom of the League at Christmas (Boxing Day to be exact) and went on to beat Liverpool 3-0 (as well as draw 2-2 at Anfield in the FA Cup), Chelsea 1-0, Spurs 1-0, Emery's Villa 1-0 and Moyes West Ham 1-0 along the way to get Wolves comfortably safe in 13th with very little time to do so.
Not bad for an instant successful impact having never managed in the Premier League/England before with the Club rock bottom of the League bang in trouble ..

Conversely, because as WHU supporters down the years and used to losing, the joy was unbounded when we got the occasional away victory. In my experience the joy of victory goes with the hard to swallow feeling of a defeat. You cannot have one without the other and as fans, because we are invested in our club, it’s perfectly normal to hate a defeat and enjoy a victory.
What does stick in many a craw is when after many years we win a real trophy, not some made up pre season type thing, we have some “real fans” denigrating the teams efforts and the status of the competition.
I agree with you about denigrating the status of the conference league.
And of course WHU fans are wanting their team to win every game. You touch on the paradox of the enjoyment of those wins coming at the price of having to accept the inevitably of defeat. The resulting tension is what we all enjoy and that's what people mean when they say they don't care about losing, it doesn't mean they aren't invested in the desire to win every game they go to. It means they see defeat in the bigger picture of what is driving their enjoyment the game.
Same goes for relegation. It may strike you as cognitively dissonant to desire your team to win every time you turn up while simultaneously believing relegation might be better for your future enjoyment of supporting the club, but the level of thrill you get from being in the moment is affected by the context. Think of it like the footballing equivalent of erotic asphyxiation (Don't try that at home kids!)

And yet Ramos was the last manager to have won them their last Trophy having beaten Man City, spanking arch rivals Arsenal 5-1 in the Semi as well as Chelsea in the Cup Final having only took over around this time of year. Also the manager that brought Modric to the Club. Sometimes these foreign managers need just a bit more time than they're allowed to turn a whole Club's ethos around in their identity...
Everything's got to be an instant success, or it can't possibly be the right solution long term, which is obviously bollocks.
As long as relegation isn't a serious distinct possibility around the turn of the year, then any new manager deserves at least 1 full season to prove they've got what it takes, preferably up to 2 to see if there's any real change for the better.

Re: Relegation
Relegation is very improbable but not impossible,
we went down with 42 points and Leicester won the league less than 10 years ago so anything can happen. I think the mood is souring by the week after a little lift when Moyes went and the danger is that the players start to feel this which affects confidence and all of a sudden, you're 8 games without a win. Like I say, very unlikely that we'll be a championship club come August but ya never know.

More chance of me getting my leg over with Taylor swift . Than west ham being relegated. The manager just isn't suited to English football. like juande Ramos at the vermin during the 08/09 season. They realised there mistake . Sullivan knows he's fucked up . but as usual with him being the narcissistic prick he is . The blame will no doubt be placed elsewhere. It's time for kretinsky and tripp smith to step up and buy Vanessa golds shares . She wants out make it happen.

No wonder the the owners, media and supporters of the 'big' clubs look down at us and treat us like we are a small time and two bob club.
If you read these threads on here, particularly the away thread at the moment, it's full of people moaning about the state of modern football and how little joy they get from it. Is ambition going to save us from anything. Who's your role model here, where do you want this ambition lead us? To become like Man City? A soulless fanbase that could barely rouse themselves to clap when they won the Champions league.
My son who was with me at the Chelsea game the other week is starting to look at going to QPR for a bit more of a laugh with his mates. Nothing to do with us losing all the time as QPR is struggling at the foot of the Championship, but he knows going over there and losing is more fun than a home game at the LS these days even if we win. At our home games half the fans fuck off 15 minutes before the end, winning or losing, because they are more concerned with getting a seat on the train back home to Essex than supporting their club and no doubt moan that it's Sullivan killing their club and not themselves. Those fans are as much part of the problem as Sullivan is.
Yes we dream of winning things, but but bar the Conference league we haven't for 40 years and what most of the posters on these threads clearly miss is the fun of following football in those intervening years. As many have been quite explicit about on the away games thread, they didn't care whether we lost they still enjoyed the day. Being a big club is not going to bring that enjoyment back it's going to make it worse, and yes, in seriousness I know relegation isn't the answer either, but if it delays the process and brings a few more years of fun before it all goes tits up, I would rather we went out that way than sitting amongst foreign tourists in a champions league semi-final.

Re: Relegation
I think there are 4 teams more likely to be relegated than us this season.
If I'm correct then that fully satisfies Sullivan's business plan of maintaining PL status; anything more is simply extra bunce in his sky for his bling budget.
He won't stir unless two of those 4 hit a purple patch and, even then, won't look beyond clients of his favourite agent for a replacement.
