Lopetegui (sacked 8.1.2025)
I was thoroughly looking forward to the start of this season
Was also prepared that things might take some time and wasn't expecting miracles over night What I didn't expect was a manager who after spending 6 weeks with the total dross he'd been left by Moyes would deem them fit to start in a premier league game And low and behold all of them played absolute shit
We're now 1 game in and none of our new players are any closer to bedding in or learning anything from their new team mates cos they barely spent a second on the pitch, half of them not at all I think it's gonna take somewhere between 6-10 games before we see the team anyone with an ounce of sense would play cos this bloke can't identify shit when he see's it I thought we was handed a miracle at half time when we went in level and low and behold he changed nothing I'm sure people are gonna make excuses for him and say it's too early to judge
But from what I've just seen today, this cսnt is David Moyes in a mission impossible mask

Re: Lopetegui
Personally, i would give him until Christmas but can understand why others would rather the trigger was pulled sooner rather than later, but gut feel is Sullivan and the board will wait a while longer.
The whole thing has been a huge disappointment IMO, we had the chance of a clean slate as it where, decent transfer budget and the hope of a top 6-8 finish, but its now looking like mid table will be a good outcome, not just giving the job to Lope when i think there was better options but the big German as the long wait for a decent striker was a waste of money and plenty were raising an eyebrow when we signed him, Steidten is obviously not the messiah many thought? and handing the captaincy to Bowen was also a mistake IMO.
Think the only thing that may speed up Lopetegui's departure (assuming results don't turn around) before the end of the year will be player dissatisfaction and we have already seen glimpses of that, rumored bust ups players walking off shaking their heads and generally looking moody, the dressing room may already be lost, wont be surprised to see a few want out in January if the Spaniard is still around.
Overall, not looking good
Not sure who i would want instead, but certainly not Moyes and its 110% no on Southgate as well, and that waistcoated twat has been linked
Potter perhaps but I'm not sold on him either, as to Johnny Foreigners well to be fair i wouldn't have a clue!!!! Saw Rodgers mentioned but again, im not sure about him, had good spell but turning into another journeyman..............not sure he's the way forward, more a man to keep try and keep you up these days.

Lato wrote: ↑23 Oct 2024, 17:32 So the question is who is out there and who do you want?
I use to get annoyed with that question but have grown to see its merit now. I'm not sure I'd be confident of anyone coming in and doing well. We need to give Lop more time, it's not looking good no, but to sack a manager after a dozen games isn't good, what if the next one comes in and has a shit start, sack him too?
The big worry for me is we have probably now gone back to being a club just looking to stay up and maybe have a cup run, it's not why we moved is it.

Re: Lopetegui
Vialli was another one who arrived with broken English at best and was soon perfectly fluent
Re: Lopetegui
He's so ambitious he can't even be arsed to learn the language.
Pochetino spoke no English when he rocked up at Southampton, neither did Iraola at Bournemouth. They both sorted that pretty quickly. Because they were committed. He's apparently been living here for 2 years or something?

Re: Lopetegui
Wanted Moyes out because the football was shit. Didn't want Lopetegui because there were better out there. Was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. Want him gone now because his football is shit and shows no sign of improvement. I have no problem with managers falling out with their best players providing the team is better for it and the results justify their actions. Falling out with players because you appear to be a stubborn cսnt is different. I don't want Moyes back I want progress, not simply change. Progress means good football and good results. They are not mutually exclusive and I don't think I am deluded for wanting those things.

Re: Lopetegui
Lets put this into some sort of perspective. We all knew it would take time with a new Coach and a lot of in and out goings. So far this season we have lost to Villa, City, Liverpool ( in the Carabao ) and Spurs all competing in the Champions League. Defeat also to Chelsea who probably think they should be in the Champions League mix also. There are far worse teams than us in the Premier League. Loppy ain't going anywhere.....so lets not piss our knickers just yet eh?
Re: Lopetegui
People forgotten already how bad we were under Moyes for long periods.
Despite my doubs, I'm willing to give lop an extended run, his start is no worse than Moyes at this stage last season and we've arguably had tougher opponents.

Re: Lopetegui
I'd be very surprised if he's not here at the end of the season, CS.
We're got enough shit teams down there to be 17th and above, which will be a good enough reason (for Sullivan) not to sack him in the middle of the season.

Re: Lopetegui
It's not looking great, but I hope he comes good and it's just a case of a lot of new players who need to find their feet and he needs to work a system to do it.
Fucked if we want to be looking for another new manager already.

Re: Lopetegui
I hate it when the ‘be careful what you wish for’ brigade come out, like they are some sort of soothsayer collective.
Not the greatest start from Lopetegui, but we’ve all seen much worse. Too early for some to be self satisfied with their ‘told you so’ rhetoric.

Re: Lopetegui
You reckon Sullivan made much effort in recruiting him, when he had Salthouse and Lopetegui buttering him all year?

Re: Lopetegui
Finally a light at the end of the tunnel, the brass necked disaster is demanding a new striker of his choice on January 1st, (someone from Greece but sadly not Levi Garcia who looks a real handful) this despite turning all our new player to shit in under a dozen games.
Hopefully Sullivan holds his nerve and El Flop pulls another Wolves stunt and we get rid of the prick for free.

Re: Lopetegui
Anyone who suggests getting Moyes back, isn't worse talking to about this subject.
I'd be surprised if we're actually worse than the end of last season under his control.

Re: Lopetegui
All across social media and other forums, people are pining for Moyes' return.. have people already forgotten how bad last year was?
I'm truly grateful for what he did here, but I find this embarrassing!
Some people seem to want Lopetegui to fail, just because they didn't want Moyes to leave in the first place.
