Re: Fullcrock
Dale Gordon was Billy's big signing that season...Dale Gordon is a reminder to myself that fings ain't so bad.
Re: Fullcrock
That wasn’t an answer to the original post, by the way. Just a general list of players who have had the injury curse.
Webster got his leg broken by Julian Dicks before he even kicked a ball competitively for us. Career was ruined.
James did his knee for England before he even played for us.
Gordon only played 9 games for us.

Re: Fullcrock
The thing that gets me is if we were planning for a slow, aging striker to lead the line, why isnt Ings playing whilst he is injured?
Ings is literally the same type of player. So if you have a system your working towards wouldn't it make sense for a similar player to deputise so that the rest of the team knows how to play your system?

To add to those already mentioned:
Hizlsperger
Faubert
Dyer
Ljungberg
Hall
Ayew
Wilshere (although anyone could have told the club THAT would happen)
There must be a load more that I can't remember off the top of my head.
Faubert did his ACL in his first preseason didn't he? never regained all his pace which was his main attribute
Yup! Indeed one of the ones before he'd ever played a competitive game for us.
Re: Fullcrock
achilles tears are difficult to return from, but not strains. If he had a tear, there's no way he could have participated in the training session after the game he injured it in.

Re: Fullcrock
The pretend German journo on Kumb is saying another six weeks..
So he'll probably be in the squad this weekend.

Re: Fullcrock
Yeah be just nice to see if he can help in any way but I already get that dreaded feeling of doom( Fraser from Dad’s Army style ) like I dud with Andy Carroll injury updates.
A real bollock dropped by our messiah Tom Steidten ?

Re: Fullcrock
Yeah I did read somewhere that it might be after Christmas, Sir Alf. But then I've seen nothing since.
I don't think of him as a saviour, I was just wondering when we might be seeing him next.

Re: Fullcrock
The West Ham striker’s curse hits again. They either dont fit our tactics or incur injuries.
Achilles problems are some of the worst from a tecovery standpoint. Sounds like we wont really see him until after xmas? Along with Kudus after his likely 6 match ban

And he'll be 32 (which is about 55 in Footballing years) in a few months time, with no time planned for his return having cost an absolute bomb for his age. To put in to perspective, many rightly regarded Antonio to be just about cooked last season and he was 33 last season. For a player at his age and vast expense and 1 not used to the intensity of the English game, it doesn't bode well for getting a great deal of use and quality out of him. The signing at the time for me screamed of a mindless expensive panic buy and his struggles to remain fit with a suspect medical history has reaffirmed that belief.
£27.5M and a 4 year contract worth about £100k a week for a 31yo injury prone Striker. Classic West Ham...
