When this first came out in the 70s I believe it was one of the strongest beers on the market I can vouch for that.
Got pissed at the Three Rabbits Manor Park was out of it for three days.

Grolsch do a 12% LAGER called "Het Kanon".
I know it's a LAGER because that's what it's sold as, not to mention the word LAGER appears on the bottle and 6-pack packaging.
Favourite beer in the higher alcohol category LAGERS though is Hoegaarden Grand Cru.

A glass or three of Bush Amber WILL fuck you up. Only 12% proof.

Chimay reserve at 9% is probably the best beer in the world. With all apologies to carlsberg.

Never buy a Belgian beer above 6% alcohol - you won’t go wrong unless it’s not really a proper lager at all.

Ah, then in that case, if it was UK brewed it would have been in Burton-on Trent.
Don't recall it at the Tollgate in Chadwell Heath, but I was an obnoxious CAMRA real-ale merchant at the time, so it was anything off the hand-pumps for me (with a Barley Wine to round the night off).

Was available on draft, was it not?
Don't thing the UK stuff was brewed in Belgium though, probably Luton or Swansea and rammed with chemicals. Decent enough tipple though.
Bottled Belgium beer, that's another barrel of fish...
