Forum rules
Whilst 'off-topic' means all non-football topics can be discussed. This is not a free for all. Rights to this area of the forum aren't implicit, and illegal, defamator, spammy or absuive topics will be removed, with the protagonist's sanctioned.
I can probably get you the views associated to your threads, as well as the number of site visitors on those days (so you can get a feeling for views versus audience).
We're also starting to think about how can we invigorate audience and participation. Whether it's editorial/comment, match reports, article type content, Community video content (if anyone wants to stick their head above the parapet) etc. somehow we could really do with growing the community and it's participation beyond just organic thread creation.
But as you say, it all takes time and commitment.
If you (or anyone) has ideas for what you might like to see, let us know, as well as thoughts on how to bring in a wider audience...more views, more opinions all will create a richer and engaging WHO experience for all.
You could just add a 'Read' number directly underneath the current 'Replies' total, so it wouldn't take up much real estate.
I'll hold my hand up here and say that I have a reason for asking for this. I'm not concerned with the number of replies on the newspaper thread, but if it's not getting many reads then it's not worth my while continuing with it, as it takes a fair amount of time each day.

A lot of forums display the number of times that a thread/post has been read.
Any chance?
It's definitely possible but the number very quickly becomes somewhat meaningless so we hid it to free up clutter/screen real estate. I mean if a thread has 20 posts, but 135 views...and another has 200 posts and 13500 views...does it help or guide?
The threads are only truly as 'alive' as the number of contributors...at the moment we have approximately 50-60 truly 'active' contributors, which is the number we could really do with trying to raise somehow.
A greater number of viewpoints would make for an increasingly engaging, vibrant and interesting forum (so if you're reading this and not really posting much ...get more involved and give us your opinions).
When i'm back from Hols in conjunction with Wils I'll try and get up a site-level 'stats' page for those who are interested...number posts per day, views per day, threads per day and visitors per day with rolling averages or some such.
If there's a groundswell of opinion that views would be useful, I'll look to add it back in, but am concerned. Most will see it as clutter lacking in value/usefulness.

Stubbo, I realise we have to allow ads to monetise the whole site but just recently, there are ads that show up within a thread, which can be confusing, is that necessary or something you can turn off?
Have you seen that recently? I thought I switched that off a while ago.

What's the source of the pics you want to post? Are they from the web?
If they are online photos (e.g. a Web URL to them) then the image button in the editor will work.
If they're your personal photos (?!) then they need to be less than 500kb in size...in which case add them as an attachment (at the base of the post editor) and choose inline.
