Saturday (& weekend) football

Post Coffee one sugar »

Forest continued to defy the doubters last night with a 3-1 victory at Leicester that rocketed them into fifth spot. Impressive or what. Guess who they're playing next?

ASTON VILLA vs BOURNEMOUTH (1500)

Victory over Arsenal last week will act as a sobering reminder for Villa not to take the Cherries lightly. Still, the hosts have a splendid incentive to climb to third if Arsenal slip up tomorrow. Home win.

BRENTFORD vs IPSWICH TOWN (1500)
After a good start, Ipswich find themselves fourth from bottom and without a win so far. Expect that rend to continues as the Bees are more than likely to be too strong for them this afternoon. Home win.

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION vs WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS (1500)
Rock-bottom Wolves have had their share of misfortune so far this season and face a tricky trip to the south coast. Brighton, in sixth, could end the day as high as third if other results go their way. Whatever happens elsewhere, the Seagulls will surprise if they fail to win this one. Home win.

MANCHESTER CITY vs SOUTHAMPTON (1500)
The Saints haven’t started their march et this season and are one of four sides without a win. Where will they get those elusive first three points from? Not from the Etihad. Home win.

EVERTON vs FULHAM (1730)
The Toffees have pulled their socks up big time of late, but will face stiff competition from Fulham this evening. It’s hard to see Everton winning this one, and the only realistic question is whether they will leave the northwest with one point or three. Away win.

SUNDAY

Remember that the clocks went back last night.

CHELSEA vs NEWCASTLE UNITED (1400)
Chelsea have blossomed this season and cannot be taken as the soft opponents they have been for much of their recent history. Newcastle continue to frustrate, offering signs of hope to their opponents only to fuck up in true claret and blue style. Home win.

CRYSTAL PALACE vs TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (1400)
Speaking of fucking up, Palace have defied expectations to do just that since August. Also without a win in this campaign, they’re in danger of getting stuck in the relegation mire unless things change for them. Much as you might like to see the Eagles changing their fortunes today, it ain’t gonna happen this afternoon and against this opposition. Away win.

WEST HAM UNITED vs MANCHESTER UNITED (1400)
Apart from the opening minutes of the second half, we put in a decent display against Spurs last week. Was that an indication of what we’re capable of and what may be repeated, or did it simply underline our weaknesses and the probability of screwing up again. No Kudus means a vastly reduced force in attack – unless Antonio can produce the goods. Meanwhile, Man U continue to be inconsistent and they come into this after a midweek European fixture, an increasing sick list and pressure on the boss. I wouldn’t blame you for choosing any of the three possible outcomes this afternoon. Home win.Image

ARSENAL vs LIVERPOOL (1630)
A cracker in the offing. Need you say more? Draw.

Teams below us digging in and getting results, let's see what we can do.

See Barcelona are coming back now, some great youngsters coming through with the Pole scoring for fun as usual.

I went to Sunderland v Oxford today.

Sunlun were fucking brilliant.

5 points clear at the top, having sold their best players in the summer without replacing them.

Regis Le Bris has done an amazing job.

If Sunlun fail to gan up we should nick him.

Which is precisely why anyone with a clue knows that we can't go down.

Plymouth come back from 3 down at home to draw 3-3.

Brentford ahead & Ipswich down to 10 men
Quite happy to see them bump along the bottom with Wolves & Southampton
Whatever they are paying for Kalvin Phillips in loan fee & wages is too much
Extraordinary decision to take him

Gives me the right hump seeing Brighton in 4th place and bloody Forest in 6th. Just how badly mismanaged are we when even at this stage of the season they both have double the amount of points we do. They spend less, have half the crowds and still seem to have better teams and managers.

Your desperation to be noticed is utterly pathetic.

Thankfully our relegation rivals Leicester got beat and Ipswich, wolves and Southampton have tough away games .

Cheers Coffee.

Like others find ours hard to call. Two managers that haven't set the EPL alight.

10hag has tended to get a result when on the brink, which makes me a bit worried.

Manuel, I was wondering about this too. I think a lot has got to do with the manager. Put Chris Woods into our team, now, and would he be scoring freely? I don't know, but would not be confident.
Sure, you may well be right. Can say the same about Duran too.

After all the nonsense when they bought about 25 players Forest have steadied the ship & put together a balanced team
No Gibbs-White at the moment but Elliot Anderson from Newcastle looks a great pick up.
Wood is benefiting from the pace in wide areas from Elanga & Hudson-Odoi
In great form at the moment for our visit next week

Think Everton will get something today & have a feeling Palace will come good. The Spurs players might be down after attending the funerals of Van der Ven & Richarlison
