West Ham Vs Man Utd | Player Ratings
Well, 2-1 win after a shambles or a first half when they should have been 5-nil up, but just shows what can happen when two poor sides take to the field.
My ratings:
Fabianski - 8...vast improvement on Areola. Better in the air, kept distribution simple. And a great save to boot.
Wan Bissaka - 7...poor final ball but got in some great positions. Relentlessly bypassed in the first half caught high up the pitch, but some great trademark sliding tackles too.
Mavropanos - 5...nothing too wrong, and battled hard, but as was shown when he was replaced, he's third choice by some distance.
Kilman - 5...no trade mark runs, and slow on the turn with us caught out constantly in the first half with the ball over the top. An early glaring error pass too, but solid in the second when put under pressure and composed on the ball as usual.
Emerson - 6...Didn't notice his performance for good or bad. Usual lack of quality crosses, usual decent knit of play in the middle of the park, and most of the Man Utd threat was from the other flank.
Rodriguez - 5...sloppy early pass almost did for us, but good choices on when you press and went to sit, won possession back numerous times, and spread the ball well when better supported in the second half by Soucek(!) and Summerville.
Alvarez - 6.5...solid return to the side, and we've missed his battling and energy in the middle of the park. Gets the wrong side too much and has to go to ground but added bite and physicality alongside Rodriguez.
Paqueta - 5...thought he wasn't as awful as he has been of late, and struggled for options to play the ball to, but still lacking anything like his best. Hooked at half time after a needless booking.
Soler - 3...was he on the pitch..and if he was where was he playing? Contributed nothing in defence or attack. Not visibly terrible, but mostly because you barely knew he was there. Hooked at half time.
Bowen - 6...decent penalty and grafted hard. Took the wrong option at times, dribbling and looking to shoot instead of playing the simple pass, but can't fault the work rate
Antonio - 4...terrible first half, but improved in the second with better passing options around him....but from a pretty low base. Must have given the ball away 15 times!
Subs
Soucek - 7...massively improved us. Calming presence in central midfield. Won the ball back, moved it simply, received it, spread it and helped in both keeping possession and winning it back.
Summerville - 8...the brightest spark in the side. Gave us pace, running, and an actual threat. Good interlink play, good finish from a difficult angle for the goal, and generally the centre of all the good second half moments.
Todibo - 8...changed the shape of the game. Won the ball high up the pitch, stopped us looking like being done by the ball in behind, pressed high for the goal which caused the turn over, and calm and reassuring on the ball at the back. Summerville will get the plaudits but he was just as important.
Ings - 4...worked hard. Got in the right place to miss the goal which Summerville tucked away from his deflection. But he's not the answer, irrespective the question. £120k more in the locker.
Cresswell - N/A...late sub. Booked
Lopetegui - 5...put simply his first half set up was diabolical and of not for how terrible Man Utd were, we'd have lost this game. Subs changed the game second half which gives a modicum of credit...but it all just feels a bit random/grasping at straws. Can imagine the players think he's a basket case and his first choice tactics fail time and again
Thought I'd try one of these threads....see if any appetite for it. What say the rest of you?

COYI.I think AWB deserves slightly higher. Is runs and tackling was exceptional
Agreed
Re: West Ham Vs Man Utd | Player Ratings
Fair play to Bowen for burying the penalty.
That said I can't help but think that he is one of the most over rated players we have ever had. That's not to say that I think he is a bad player though!

Fab -7
Wan Bissaka -7
Emerson -6
Killman -6
Mavropanos -5
Guido -6
Alvarez -7
Paqueta -5
Soler -4
Bowen -7
Antonio -6
Subs: Soucek -6, Todibo -7, Ings -6, Summerville -8
Lop -6
A few players stifled by confusing tactics and or out of position. It'd be nice to have a match where Lop doesnt need to make wholesale changes to get a tune out of the team.
Surely next match he plays Summerville from the start.
