After enjoying Summervilles joy and taking FULL advantage of the chance to bait Manchester United colleagues at work, I did ponder if we might not, ruefully come to view it as a sliding door moment whereby, when we both look back later, they offloaded their manager and went forward and we kept ours and struggled or worse for the Season.

If he thinks he's got a chance of being City's manager (didn't someone on here suggest they just employed his best mate as a Sporting Director there or something?) then he's probably best off staying where he is.

Although it must be tempting for him.  No matter how shit they currently are, being Man Utd manager is still probably seen as one of the top jobs for any manager.

That's only because people - and particularly the media (who need familiarity and continuity to sell advertising space) - continue to live in the epoch between the Munich disaster (it was) and then end of the Ferguson era.

Without that history, Manchester United are a bog-standard mid-table team.

Lee - Such is the task it wouldn't be too outrageous for him to say thanks but no thanks, but that won't happen of course. Doubt he will be under too much pressure this season, maybe next season the target will be top 4. We've already seen that winning a cup doesn't count for too much there.

Paying 82 mil for Antony was a massive black mark against the bald one. He would have been sacked in the summer but he won the FA Cup and they extended his deal, for a so called ruthless business man in Ratcliffe, he dropped a big clanger there. They are a right old mess, average squad, new directors bedding in at the club, sack red nose, and the stadium is falling apart, and all while City are cleaning up.

I think it takes miracles to turn them around from where they are, Manuel.  He might be the manager to do that.

Stating the obvious I suppose but Amorin, who is no doubt a very talented modern say coach, would have to go down as a gamble, ''job too big for him'' would be the biggest fear I suppose, he could do with a good start, much like baldy has had at Liverpool.

Man Utd had to go down the 'modern coach' route, they've tried older school types in LVG and Mourinho and they didn't stay. I suppose you would have to temper expectations since they don't have a great squad and still look miles behind the top 3. Suspect they will have to give him a minimum of 18 months unless it's a complete disaster.

I wanted Amorim, so I'm quite keen to see how he gets on at Man Utd.  I've got a horrible feeling he'll turn out decent for them.

He doesn't quite beat Klopp, but Sullivan is getting quite the squad together for the Bullseye's "here's what you could have won" team.
