Lopetegui (sacked 8.1.2025)
I was thoroughly looking forward to the start of this season
Was also prepared that things might take some time and wasn't expecting miracles over night What I didn't expect was a manager who after spending 6 weeks with the total dross he'd been left by Moyes would deem them fit to start in a premier league game And low and behold all of them played absolute shit
We're now 1 game in and none of our new players are any closer to bedding in or learning anything from their new team mates cos they barely spent a second on the pitch, half of them not at all I think it's gonna take somewhere between 6-10 games before we see the team anyone with an ounce of sense would play cos this bloke can't identify shit when he see's it I thought we was handed a miracle at half time when we went in level and low and behold he changed nothing I'm sure people are gonna make excuses for him and say it's too early to judge
But from what I've just seen today, this cսnt is David Moyes in a mission impossible mask

Re: Lopetegui
Get this Spanish cսnt gone.
At least under Moyes we had a style, we might not have liked it but at least we knew what it was.
This cսnt has nothing going for him, worst manager since Roeder.
Soler on? Is he so fucking clueless?
I'd take anyone but this fucking prick.

Re: Lopetegui
Said before we got him he is a poor manager that plays crap football.
Turns out he is even worse than I thought. It’s like watching us at our worst under Roeder. Absolutely shocking we let this prick spend 150m.
There is not a single positive about the squad at the moment. We are every bit as shit on the ball as we are off it.
Thankfully there are 3 worse teams (albeit very marginally) otherwise we will be playing championship football next season, if we don’t sack him.

As for the imbecile manager hanging him out to dry by replacing him for Fabianski, it fucking worked a treat with us coming away with a win against Man Utd.
Fuck me, you sound devastated we won the way you're digging out both the manager and the Keeper, whilst everyone else lapped it up.
It's CLINT, not cսnt you illiterate retard. I said he hung Areloa out to dry with his tactics, not replacing him, which he did because he's a fucking imbecile. The sort of imbecile who has all week to work with 3 centre back and still can't stop Chris Wood getting a free header in the six yard box. I saw that coming a week ago...

So yet again because of the fucking clown in charge we really should have been behind in the opening minutes.
Fucking KUMB rejects, they're a cancer on every decent WHU forum.Had the shot been on target, to actually score the fucking goal between the sticks, you cannot for certain say Garnacho would have scored it passed him, especially with how well he was performing his reflect saves all game long. As it was, Garnacho felt he had to stick it postage stamp to try and beat him and he couldn't manage it. World's apart from the amount of soft goals conceded in the first 10 minutes by Areola by comparison. Not that Fabianski conceded in his other Cup appearances this season within the first 20 minutes either which shows how much difference there is when one currently starts compared to the other.
You're a complete moron. He hit the bar without Fabianski moving, quarter of a inch lower, goal. That's all that stopped it going in, the width of your cock. The reason Areola is conceeding early goals is the same reason Fabianski should have last week, the imbecilic manager hanging him out to dry with his ridiculous tactics.

Yep, a win today and Lopetegui starts to look half decent...

Re: Lopetegui
Fabianski and Tobido too.
Would say the questions are around the midfield three and the striker.
I want Alvarez, Paqueta, Guilherme and Ings. We’ll see.

Of course out of work and €10m cheaper Lopetegui was a much preferred choice because he was a better candidate than Amorim who had only been successful in Portugal..
By such high level decision making, clubs fortunes either fade and die or prosper. I think we'll all thank Sullivan if we get overtaken by Man Utd...

Re: Lopetegui
Ceding the space up to the byline seems part of the modern game all too often. I'm sure the opposition will be delighted if we carry on this way.

Re: Lopetegui
I genuinely think that tucking the full backs in tight to the CB's when we don't have possession and using one of the DM's as a sweeper when we don't have possession is just a couple of steps too much and over complicate a simple game.
Lope may feel obliged to try and reinvent the game in his own style, but I think just set up with the best players and the most naturally suited formation and just tell them to go and play.
On MOTD they analysed the DM pattern and Danny Murphy could only show one situation where Alvarez was sitting in as a sweeper and then shot out to intercept and we scored from it. Great. But how many times has it cost us by getting over-run in midfield? Loads. Risk and reward. It's really not worth it.

Re: Lopetegui
I guess what I'm saying is that my concern about Lopetegui is that I worry about his sides structurally - and before we even think about players.
He doesn't mind lining us up as a very slow, pondersome side. In the Premier League. Which, for all it's flaws, is generally very quick.
He also doesn't mind lining us up in such a way that we gift cheap and constant possession to opponents because his choices constantly give opponents passing options deep into our own half. For that reason, we rarely get defence set further up the pitch. Clever opposition widemen just take advantage of the huge space Lope's zonal full-backs give away.
I'm quite certain that neither Emerson or Wan-Bissaka, one of the best 1v1 defenders in the country whose instinct is to confront the man he's supposed to be "marking", want to play that weird zonal thing where they are tucked in next to their CBs. It's simply crazy.

Massive Attack" wrote: ↑29 Oct 2024, 11:33Rodriguez can be so costly in possession as he was 1 of the biggest culprits for gifting the ball straight to a Man Utd player that led to carnage in our box. Not only is he slower than Noble, he also makes big costly errors giving the ball back in dangerous areas of the pitch. And if this is as good as it gets with Rodriguez then that's on Lopetegui for wanting him and also the manager for continuing to start him. I really don't like what I see of him thus far and would have Soucek ahead of him if he doesn't rapidly improve, which I doubt.
Massive Attack - I agree with that analysis, but would go a bit further.
Second half against Man Utd aside, certain individual players are not playing well right now. Spot on. And Rodriguez is one of them. Perhaps that can be improved over time. But our biggest problem in the first half was the huge lack of pace in the back-central three or four players (Kilman, Mav, Rodriguez and Alvarez), which left us exposed and reliant on Wan-Bissaka's coverage to get us out of trouble. Lope, to his credit, adjusted that at half-time when he brought on Todibo and Summerville (the latter plays further forward, but forced Man Utd to defend a little deeper because of his speed).
And the other huge problem in the first half was that weird and utterly STUPID tactic of tucking the full-backs inside and close to our centre backs when we're not in possession of the ball - even when defending deep in our own half. It means the opposition always have two passing options in any move: their wide midfielders who are rarely tracked by our full-backs. Instead, we keep asking Wan-Bissaka and Emerson to mark a 'zone' next to their own CBs. It's insane, and just invites constant pressure. We've seen it time and again - Garnacho and Rashford had acres of space in that first half, Grealish could have opened a farm and had sheep grazing on the green space he occupied alone during the game against Man City. It's insanity and it has to stop. Lopetegui will get nowhere in the Premier League lining us up like that.
