Lopetegui (sacked 8.1.2025)

Post maverick180 »

I was thoroughly looking forward to the start of this season

Was also prepared that things might take some time and wasn't expecting miracles over night What I didn't expect was a manager who after spending 6 weeks with the total dross he'd been left by Moyes would deem them fit to start in a premier league game And low and behold all of them played absolute shit

We're now 1 game in and none of our new players are any closer to bedding in or learning anything from their new team mates cos they barely spent a second on the pitch, half of them not at all I think it's gonna take somewhere between 6-10 games before we see the team anyone with an ounce of sense would play cos this bloke can't identify shit when he see's it I thought we was handed a miracle at half time when we went in level and low and behold he changed nothing I'm sure people are gonna make excuses for him and say it's too early to judge

But from what I've just seen today, this cսnt is David Moyes in a mission impossible mask

The fans could force Sullivan’s hand.!

I just can’t see how mate. You can’t protest within a postcode of the Stadium now. And COVID pretty much proved owners can get by quite merrily without the supporters in the ground. The Media love sucking him off. And the YT crowd for the most are frighten to go after him. In fear of getting cut off from any info. From his piss stained mouthpiece. The only way he goes is when someone rides into town. And pony up the fee he craves.

I completely disagree. As much as I disliked him, Moyes had credit in the bank and the midget used that to prolong his tenure. He (Moyes) also had a loyal cult that still don't see anything wrong in the way he managed us. There's no credit in the bank with this new bloke. He doesn't know his best team, never picks a settled side and the football's got worse. Strangely, this appointment has probably united the fan base more than its been for years, and firmly put the attention back on him and tits mcgee. Knowing how he operates, I wouldn't rule out a third helping of Moyes, because that would instantly create the much needed fan divide and divert attention away from himself

The fans could force Sullivan’s hand

but there’s still too many that wanna give him more time just so they can say we’re not like Chelsea

which is ironic cos they’re near the top and we’re near the bottom

sometimes it pays to be ruthless, especially when the bloke in charge continuously shows he can’t coach in this league

Performances aside, the players just don’t look happy. Stupid red cards, allegations of dressing room bust ups, really poor body language……. They just don’t look like they wanna play for him.

Billy,
I just find it odd how you have a fit every time someone mentions Moyes. It’s like you have Moyes Derangement Syndrome or it could be that you’re embarrassed by it all.

Billy,
I know what I meant. “Get the wooden spoon” was a quip made in reference to someone having an epileptic fit so they don’t swallow or bite their tongue. It’s old school. Perhaps you’re just too young or ignorant to know this.

I’d wager a bet it’s ignorance.

The thing is, the cheap option can be the Morgan Rogers, the Adam Whartons, the Antoine Semenyos... it doesn't have to be paying £27m for Fullkrug instead of £40m for Duran

I agree with Billy here. Even though I think JL has shot himself in the foot with poor selections and naive tactics, I feel that any other manager would be in the exact same dilemma as we witness now.

We miss depth in the squad, we miss a striker and still need a LB and a CAM.

The biggest culprit is Sullivan, but it's easy to point at the manager.
After those two we need a leader, and that isn't Bowen.
We need better players than Mavropanos and Alvarez who constantly make stupid errors.

I can't se any quick solutions, we are on a typical West ham bumpy road as long as the midget russian wannabe dictator cսnt is gone

Yes, but wait a minute. This manager must have been happy with the absolute shit we acquired in the summer otherwise he would surely have made a stand. Like he did at Wolves. I was told he was principled. We spent £100m and are worse.

The one who still doesn't seem to get any flack is Steidten, which I find bizarre

He can hide behind the sending off today to a certain extent, but he has problems that can’t be covered up. The lack of pace was ruthlessly exposed; Alvarez got done pace wise for both the cards, Paqueta is currently a passenger who needs dropping, although he did have out only shot on target first half. We are a worse team without Antonio than with and we’ve acknowledged for seasons now that he’s past his best. More than anything WHY did he change what looked like a decent lineup from last week. Just when we thought we may have found some form and answered a few questions it’s all change again.

I mean he will be given time but more of the same and the patience will run out.

The problem is Lopetegui keeps tinkering cos he doesnt know the best formation to apply, whilst still trying to play all his best players.... Personally I dont know why he didnt just start with the team that played so much better in the 2nd half against Man Utd. I think most managers wouldve done just that... yes Soucek is out...  but why change it so radically, it doesnt make sense and gives him nowhere to hide, he only has himself to blame.  Had he started with that 2nd half team (v Man U) at least you couldnt argue against the logic.. but what he did no one understands.. and he seems to learn nothing every time he changes things.

Certainly agree with that.  With the three at the back Sumnmerville seemed shunted inside which took away what he was good at last week.  JL must have started him on his form last week so why then take away what he was excelling at?  Emerson got down the left at least twice but played two very poor balls into the box, he seems a bit lost at the moment and certainly needs to pick up his form.  JL probably sees a back three as more solid but AWB isn't really a wing back.  Emerson on song, Todibo, Kilman and AWB should be a half decent back four and as you say an upgrade on the ageing defence last season.  It's what's ahead of them that's the issue and I'm not sure what the answer is.  Rodriguez is clearly not good enough, Alvarez is a liability, Paqueta is totally out of sorts and I am not sure what Soler is meant to be doing.  Says something when we say we missed Soucek.

Moyes left us with an aging, slow, small squad which they needed to fix fast... now I'm far from saying the squad is fixed, but I would say its definitely improved... especially defensively.

He has a cushion of some very poor teams below us... but before long he's gonna run out of goodwill even from Sullivan..

People get the wooden spoon for people throwing a fit, just like you do every time you are reminded what an idiot you really are.
No they don't you pathetic excuse for a human being... they get the wooden spoon for coming last which we would do under Moyes if he'd stayed... 🤣 seriously you are such a fuckup but refuse accept it!!!

And clearly it's you thats the idiot for not knowing what that meant... 🙄 🤡💩🧠

Writings on the wall for the flip flopping Spaniard as far as im concerned, surely his time is up soon, got a slice of luck against a poor ManU who should have won that game, could get another reprieve against Everton but im not sure waiting until Christmas as has been rumored to see if he can turn it around is going to benefit anyone, lose to the Toffees next week and that should be it.

£75/80m spent on the defence, and only Ipswich and Wolves (the 2 teams who have yet to win a league game all season) have let in more than us.

We was warned by every miserable pundit going that entertaining football doesn’t necessarily mean more points on the board and we should be careful what we wish for

well this cսnt isn’t providing entertaining football, and he’s certainly not providing any points either

his inability to select a competent starting XI, his constant playing players out of position and keeping bang out of form players in the team combined with the most boring performances make this bloke the worst West Ham manager I’ve ever seen

Like many on here, I was excited about appointing a new manager after Moyes chipped off, thinking we would consolidate our 6th to 9th position and push on!

During this process there were some impressive names attached, the now Man Utd manager, Fonseca etc

Loppy's name was also attached and I was like meh, not really but still better than Moyes and it doesn't matter anyway as he won't get the job etc.

He did get the job and it was ok, thats a bit underwhelming but i'll get behind him.

Well its been a massive mistake appointing him, for all the reasons laid out in here, but most importantly the players that were already here, not the ones he has brought in, are literally just not playing for him.

Alvarez, Emerson, Paqueta, Kudus, Areola and Antonio literally look like they can't stand the bloke, his staff and his tactics!

Now the thing is, he will probably get a result against Everton next Saturday and keep his job for now.

I personally would call him into the office on Monday and cut him loose, along with his staff, and get a better manager in asap, the new manager would have Everton and the International break to get going.

This bloke is not working and I would not persist with him any longer.

If we lose to Everton, then I think we should stop this ridiculous farce and just sack him that night.

Lopetegui is a joke. We were so poor at the back end of last season (so it was right not to renew Moyes’ contract) and, despite having spent the best part of £150m, this absolute clown has made us considerably worse.

If we don’t get rid of this fella - quickly - it’s a relegation battle this season. Whoop! Back to the “good” old days!
