Lopetegui (sacked 8.1.2025)
I was thoroughly looking forward to the start of this season
Was also prepared that things might take some time and wasn't expecting miracles over night What I didn't expect was a manager who after spending 6 weeks with the total dross he'd been left by Moyes would deem them fit to start in a premier league game And low and behold all of them played absolute shit
We're now 1 game in and none of our new players are any closer to bedding in or learning anything from their new team mates cos they barely spent a second on the pitch, half of them not at all I think it's gonna take somewhere between 6-10 games before we see the team anyone with an ounce of sense would play cos this bloke can't identify shit when he see's it I thought we was handed a miracle at half time when we went in level and low and behold he changed nothing I'm sure people are gonna make excuses for him and say it's too early to judge
But from what I've just seen today, this cսnt is David Moyes in a mission impossible mask

Re: Lopetegui
Orford is only a few months off turning 19
Lavia was playing for Southampton at his age now and was their standout player

Re: Lopetegui
I think Irving more than deserves his chance before the untested 18yo in Midfield first. I like Orford but not quite yet.

Re: Lopetegui
Genuine question to anyone reading this
what’s the thinking behind not giving Orford a go in the middle of the park, when we’re crying out for some pace?
yes he could become overwhelmed and have a stinker but that’s what our current midfield 2 have every week anyway, the only difference is they’re older and slower
surely this kid needs to start playing now if he’s got any chance of making it, especially when we’re in dire need of someone with some class in this position
always thought Collison has his best season when he broke through in this position

Re: Lopetegui
Nothing will change this season. Survival is about the best we can hope for.
The squad deficiencies were only half addressed. Made abundantly clear by a switch in tactics to try and build attacks via possession and by outplaying the opposition. Back 4 was 75% replaced and it is better than it was and fits the tactics IMO but midfield replacements and strengthening were totally inadequate. The root cause of many of our problems we continue to see. Rodruiguez and Soler are simply not what we needed to be able to start pressing and withstand teams pressing and counter attacking.
Recruitment for the central attacking area was a complete failure too and has not addressed the lacknof youth, pace and strength up front.
Only way out of our problems are a change of manager and somehow bringing in a couple of players with pace and stamina and energy for central midfield. Chelsea have a bunch of players they want to sell or maybe loan to sell. I suspect there are one or two in that club unable to get a game ( 50 odd players and only 25 in the squad and same 8 or 9 getting selected every week now ) that would be better than Rodruiguez and Soler in terms of that central midfield. If Steidten has a brain he is looking at players like that and around the world we can loan in Jan.
Although now Sullivan is leaking that we’re skint again so its maybe just hope?
I would currently expect Everton to defeat us next week. Tough, hard working team sitting deep and countering fast.

Re: Lopetegui
Unless we are in the relegation zone I can’t see the board doing anything until atleast the end of the season.
Would probably need to lose the next 4/5 for that to happen.
games against the likes of Everton, Wolves and Leicester coming up. If he gets 6 points out of them 3 and even has heavy losses against Newcastle and Arsenal he will still be here.

Re: Lopetegui
Why the fuck is this hopeless, incompetent, no good, worthless cսnt still here? It make absolutely no sense to persist with this complete mockery of a man. The players have clearly had enough, The sane amongst the support have had enough. Just get in over with. Dyche for all his limitations will crave this cսnt to shreds. Calvert-Lewis, easiest hat-trick of his life incoming...

Re: Lopetegui
Points wise, we could obviously be worse off and could’ve lost every game
but in terms of the 3 most important jobs a manager has :- team selection, performance and tactics, I genuinely can’t see how anybody could make a case that those 3 things haven’t been rock bottom

Re: Lopetegui
10 games is more than long enough when the person in charge is constantly showing they don’t know what they’re doing
a) he can’t even pick a side with people playing in their correct positions
b) he changes it every week
If you blagged a job in a field where you had no idea what you’re doing they don’t keep you in employment once the penny drops that you can’t do the job
People need to stop making excuses for this clown

Re: Lopetegui
Rest of the season for me, unless it's looking beyond hopeless around the turn of the year. All managers deserve a reasonable length of time to prove they're the right man for the job. After just 10 games and just as many weeks since the season started isn't long enough for anyone.
Re: Lopetegui
Why do people still think the 3rd tier European trophy was the first thing we won in over 40 years? Was my trip to Metz a dream? I’m sure when we beat Jokerit and Osijek we went on to win the third tier European trophy. If I recall, the other tournament branch winner of the same trophy that year was Juventus, there were some great teams in it.

This time last year we had already beaten Chelsea,Brighton and Arsenal yet many were doing their upmost to hound out Moyes less than 6 months after our first trophy in 43 years FFS!

Re: Lopetegui
XKhammer, you gotta be on a wind up
I think it’s the complete opposite, too many in the fan base with small club mentality, every fan in the stadium this Saturday should be shouting for Lopetegui to go, and letting Sullivan know we won’t be fobbed off with
more cheap shit sent our way by his best mate Salthouse
it doesn’t and won’t happen though

Lopetegui is so out of his depth that it’s genuinely shocking. He’s one of the most over-rated managers I’ve ever seen at any club.
Fucking around with a back three when he has no history of it in England: he had absolutely no idea what he was doing with the defence and, lo and behold, they didn’t have a clue what they were doing as players.
They’ve given the job to a clueless clown who can’t communicate with his players effectively and who seems to think he’s playing a computer game (by changing line-ups and formations on a whim, with little practice).
I’ve never been more more certain that we need to ditch a manager so quickly. It probably won’t happen, because the league is quite poor in the bottom half this season. But he could easily relegate this side.
He should never have got the job. Those who appointed him need to ask themselves some serious questions.
I did warn everyone on here about this clown during the summer but other forum members ignored me or tried to laugh away, dismiss or ridicule my point of view.
I was told when I raised the big red flag of his managerial record and his sacking from every full level managerial job he has ever had, bar Wolves which he walked out of in a hissy fit over transfers, that I was being ridiculous. Apparently we couldn't take into account the fact Real Madrid sacked this losser after three months because "we are not Real Madrid".
Hate to say I told you all so and was right yet again...

Re: Lopetegui
I wanted Moyes gone for the simple reason that for me, watching West Ham was no longer enjoyable
but under this bloke it’s even worse
You’ve got to be out of your mind to keep employing him to do something he’s absolutely bloody awful at
it’s like he’s got dementia and has no understanding of football whatsoever

At least we haven't got to put up with Moyes and his top half finishes, European cup runs and silverware.

When you’re modern Nottingham Forest’s “easiest game” then you’re screwed. Doesn’t matter how well they’re doing.
