US Election, November 5th

Post Sydney_Iron »

And a bit eerily and worryingly Bonfire night!!!! Let's hope it doesn't descend into that though 🤞

Never know an election be in the news so much, all over Aussie TV and expect the worlds TV as well, so many (non Septic's) have an opinion on it as well? WTF

fuck knows who wins, personally don't care as both sides seem like a pack of cunts, so IMHO there will be no winner for the American people, the best we can hope for is that one side wins convincingly and so less chance of it kicking off but i bet whomever wins none of the doomsayers predictions will come to pass in any shape or form, it will just be business as usual and snouts in the trough for those associated with the winning side.

America will still be a freak show and your average American no better or worse off than before.

Just to educate a few on here, the state of the economy is a real issue. Inflation, interest rates, cost of living is out of control and are through the roof. The Dems have no policies to solve the problem. The Dems are making it about personality because they have no answers.

people vote with their wallets.

Besides every word out of Kamala’s mouth is a lie. She flip flops on all her issues, even the border wall is now a good idea, She is not credible. Nobody believes her.

Gerrymandering is not the right term, because that means changing boundaries.
I stand corrected. I believed it had a broader meaning to include manipulating the demos with the intent to increase your share of the vote.

Here's some data on how immigrants affiliate once in the US. So you can see why Democrats are so keen to relax immigration restrictions.

That’s a pure political smear and a very clumsy one at that

I was going to say "Are you really that stupid" but you are, so it's pointless, feel free to show us how you have come about with your stance that the voting has changed for another reason though.
Errr because the GOP is now a party for barely-sentient reactionaries positioning itself for the vote of those in the rust belt states desperate enough believe Trump is going to make America great again by fucking up the government altogether?
So you've offered nothing, other than your (stupid) opinion. Well done on showing us all, how thick you are.

This is when you look into proposition 187 and the feeling that resonated from that.

The closest example I can give you that you might be able to understand is, imagine a load of scousers being dumped into a conservative majority seat.

I never said gerrymanding, hard for me to backpedal. You need to pay attention.

"that California would vote for is the same beast as today"  - Exactly my point. It was changed irrevocably, as I said.

The rest of your post is your conjecture based on....

Real voting data shows the massive shift following Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, and then the executive order (1987) that followed giving children of former illegal immigrants automatic citizenship and voting rights.  That would not be felt a year later but you do see it in the numbers for 1992 onward.

"
  • In 2022, more than half (54%) of California’s immigrants were naturalized US citizens. This share has increased consistently since 1990 when only 31% of immigrants were naturalized."
  • California has more immigrant eligible voters (5.5 million) than any other state, more than New York (2.5 million) and Florida (2.5 million) combined. "

So according to that article, the issue got fixed in plenty of time before the election. Don't see why anyone should be yelling about voter suppression there, any more.

You are not that dense.

Immunity from entering the country illegally.  Amnesty, ie. Citizenship accompanied that.

Gerrymandering is not the right term, because that means changing boundaries.

But if you don't believe the voting demographics have been altered irrevocably in California by that act, you don't know enough about American politics.

As recently as George Bush Sr., California voted Republican for president.  Except for Johnson v. Goldwater (ha!) California voted Presidential Red from then back into the 1940s.

The election rigging comment just shows how far you are down the rabbit hole. Thanks for giving me a good laugh, though.

Since there have already been instances of voter suppression found and punished by the courts (extra advanced voting days required in Bucks County, Penn. for instance), you may want to keep your rabbit ears at hand.

If you want to see the election process honestly and not parrot one party's line.

Sorry I got a bit ahead of myself.  You questioned how high immigration is promoted to gerrymander the vote.

That's exactly what happened in California in the 80's.  3 million illegal immigrants were given immunity.
