US Election, November 5th

Post Sydney_Iron »

And a bit eerily and worryingly Bonfire night!!!! Let's hope it doesn't descend into that though 🤞

Never know an election be in the news so much, all over Aussie TV and expect the worlds TV as well, so many (non Septic's) have an opinion on it as well? WTF

fuck knows who wins, personally don't care as both sides seem like a pack of cunts, so IMHO there will be no winner for the American people, the best we can hope for is that one side wins convincingly and so less chance of it kicking off but i bet whomever wins none of the doomsayers predictions will come to pass in any shape or form, it will just be business as usual and snouts in the trough for those associated with the winning side.

America will still be a freak show and your average American no better or worse off than before.

Robert de Niro certainly talks like someone who I'd like to see pissed off, but somehow I don't really like to put him that category.

What does fuck me off with him and his ilk, think Bruce Springsteen that their opinion maters more than anybody eles because they can act and sing

The Starlink proposal was for 866 Millon.

The only time 40 billion has been mentioned in the realm of Starlink: that is what Musk said he would like to invest in it, worldwide.

Incredible ignorance of the facts, once again.

(Along the same line of ignorance, very few swamps in the foothills and plains and Rocky Mountains in the North of America around me.)

Who's going to claim that the US election is proof of democracy in action if their side wins but claim that it's a corrupt process if their side loses?

Same election either way, don't forget.

Well, that's a million times better than the current contract they've spent out on.

All politicians lie

But people saw life under Trump and then saw life under Biden/Harris and it got worse.  The most recent jobs number are not encouraging.

Lots of issues out there important to various smaller groups on both sides, but I think that is what the silent majority will vote on and thus decide the election.
Surely there's some lag between the actions of a sitting president and a noticeable effect on the lives of everyday people. can't be easy to follow someone that's done a poor job and turn it around within your own term

You'd much prefer the government spending $42 billion on getting no one connected instead then, Pickled?

You need to get over this jealously of yours you have for Musk.  He'll take over your life like Brexit did.

Elon Musk’s Starlink would improve a few lives in remote areas by providing high-speed internet there. Musk is hoping Trump will get him lots of lucrative government contracts in exchange for election campaign support. He didn’t get those contracts with the Democrat administration.

If you want a proper administration that will be more likely take care of the country’s interests as a whole rather than that of just some billionaire backers, you know what to make of the Trump/Musk relationship.

I agree with the first part of your comment but for good or bad, strongly disagree with this statement.

Just a little thing amongst all the politcs but something I can related too, having grown up in a rural area:

About 200 miles south of me, across the border and just beyond a Native Reservation is bunch of nothing but foothills and brush and some ranchers. Musk's Starlink would have provide the area with high speed internet.  However, "concidentally" after Musk was beginning to vocalise clashes with Democratic governments (ie. California) and his reborn Twitter was explicitly condemned by those around the Biden admininstration, the FCC denied a Starlink contract to provide that internet access.  Since, no steps have been made to actually provide access, despite the money being allocated elsewhere.

Starlink proved to work in similar areas during the recent North Carolina hurricane aftermath.

Again, high speed internet could be a little thing but, to me at least, those lives were changed because of party politics. Much bigger issues out there which were similarly affected, for good or bad.

Party politics is a fucking soap opera. And the US election is the biggest soap opera of all. And like most soap opera's there is alot of action and hot air but ultimately, it's pretty shit and nobody's lives changes because of it.

Some of the prices are crazy over there.  It won't be reported about over here because the MSM are so obsessed with Trump.

$8 for a carton of orange juice is way too much.
Yeah, but America's a rich country. They can afford it, innit?

But Trump has convictions and pending cases from Democratic courts and Judges. A lot of people see it for what it is Political warfare.

People trust Trump more on the economy and rightly so.
