Lopetegui (sacked 8.1.2025)

Post maverick180 »

I was thoroughly looking forward to the start of this season

Was also prepared that things might take some time and wasn't expecting miracles over night What I didn't expect was a manager who after spending 6 weeks with the total dross he'd been left by Moyes would deem them fit to start in a premier league game And low and behold all of them played absolute shit

We're now 1 game in and none of our new players are any closer to bedding in or learning anything from their new team mates cos they barely spent a second on the pitch, half of them not at all I think it's gonna take somewhere between 6-10 games before we see the team anyone with an ounce of sense would play cos this bloke can't identify shit when he see's it I thought we was handed a miracle at half time when we went in level and low and behold he changed nothing I'm sure people are gonna make excuses for him and say it's too early to judge

But from what I've just seen today, this cսnt is David Moyes in a mission impossible mask

If I mistook you for some other fool on here then apologies COYI.
Thing is you claimed Lop is a loser which judging by his record with Spain at 3 different levels, and his record at Sevilla, plus the job he did in not only keeping Wolves up but getting them above us from a position of rock bottom at Xmas says he isn't a loser. You don't get the Real Madrid job either if you're a loser.
Even if he fails with us which he hasn't yet it still doesn't mean he's a loser, it just means that it didn't work out with us.
There are plenty of very good managers who have failed at clubs, and plenty who have had one good or bad season followed by a bad or good one.
Even the greatest managers haven't got it right at every club they managed.
He's not going anywhere soon unless something dramatic happens so let's see where we are at the end of the season.

Wrong. I stated that we will be battling relegation as long as 'loser Lop' remains in post. I stand by that.
but we’re not battling relegation anymore than Manchester United are.
You also said we’d lose to Man United 4-1.

Thinking about it, yes that is right. The job Alvarez was asked to do on Saturday was borderline insanity.

If also like to add most of thr blame here goes to sullivan.

He wouldn't pay the extra £5m for Duran and he wanted lopetegi as he wasn't with club and therefore no compo to another club

And regarding our summer signings as we've seen from moyes if we get a decent player and play them
poorly they will look shit

Haller, scammacca, and countless other good players being used incorrectly.

if a manager misuses a player they will look crap.
kudus for example should be playing as a 10, he's good on the right, but naturally a 10...but  currently playing in the moyes naughty step left wing position, where sommerville should be playing
its easy.  Sommerville left, kudus 10, bowen right.

alvarez being hung out to dry by being deployed too deep and covering for defenders who have lost the ball up thr pitch and then jog back slowly.  (But he is being reckless)

The team don't look remotely interested at the moment and the effort levels are poor.  They aren't playing for lopetegi.  Might be some post moyea petulance from some of them or maybe they're juat baffled by what they're being asked to do.

Whatever it is it isnt working.

A lot of people suffer from the “need to be right” and to elevate themselves above others ( in their minds ) as a result. Its actually insecurity and in some cases inadequacy and low self esteem that drive it.  Counterintuitive but basic psychology. Hence much worse when you are young and lacking humility built thru life experience over the years. But most people eventually mellow and get wisdom which firstly tells us that as each day passes you realise you knew less than you thought you did 🙂. Well I do anyway. You also you no longer have the need to tell anyone you are right if it transpires your opinion or thoughts ended up being correct.  In my case, I get a lot wrong but like to post opinions and listen to other, often opposite views.

COYI has got a lot things right. I respect his virws even though I dont agree with some of them. 👍

As my old boss used to say when I was younger, “dont take yourself too seriously” 🙂

Something wrong when you feel the need to tell people and argue that you are good at something. Really stinks of being crap and needy.

You think every one is shit.  Thia is the first time you've been right and its not the flex you think it is because NOBODY except sullivan wanted him. The only difference is that others were willing to give him a chance.

Wrong actually. I stated in the summer that I believe Summerville is an excellent signing. It is quite typical that 'loser Lop' barely gives him a chance.
And you just said:

2) The Summer transfer window was an utter disaster

Three more things I called out in the Summer while you all had your heads buried in the sand, but which you are all gradually cottoning on to:

1) Lopetegui is a loser of a football manager, hence his nickname of 'loser Lop'

2) The Summer transfer window was an utter disaster

3) 'Guru' Tim Steidten is not the guru he and some of our hard of thinking supporters seem to think he is. Still, the fraud gets to swan about in a private jet racking up the air miles and contributing to climate change. What a guy.

LOL, weren't you the know nothing idiot who repeatedly claimed Rice was shit. 🤡
No. Wrong person. I was one of the first to state on here how good Rice is.

I'll wait for an apology from you.

Although it is getting difficult to see Lopetegui is the man for the job, we are not in such a bad position. We are 6 points away from the relegation places with double the points of Ipswich in 18th. We are just 5 points off Spurs in 7th. String a few wins together and we could be looking OK. The worrying thing is the inconsistency of Lopetegui, but it is not beyong fixing.

Swiss, I personally think the rot set in around March/ April 2022 when Moyes tactics were rumbled. Yes we had that run of results in the new season but quite a few wins we got were like our result against the Mancs, fortuteous in the extreme. But the point about replacing Moyes when he refused a new deal is a sound one.  And that was when the “house of cards” started to collapse.  Sullivan got the coaching appointment wrong and as mentioned he will blame Steidten and Lopetegui.

Its going to get a lot worse begire it gets better is the feeling in my waters

We should have done a Liverpool.

Announced he was leaving earlier on in the year and then actively gone out to look for his replacement and had it all done and dusted before the season had finished.

Sullivan had probably already decided he was going to go with Lopetegui back then.
