US Election, November 5th

Post Sydney_Iron »

And a bit eerily and worryingly Bonfire night!!!! Let's hope it doesn't descend into that though 🤞

Never know an election be in the news so much, all over Aussie TV and expect the worlds TV as well, so many (non Septic's) have an opinion on it as well? WTF

fuck knows who wins, personally don't care as both sides seem like a pack of cunts, so IMHO there will be no winner for the American people, the best we can hope for is that one side wins convincingly and so less chance of it kicking off but i bet whomever wins none of the doomsayers predictions will come to pass in any shape or form, it will just be business as usual and snouts in the trough for those associated with the winning side.

America will still be a freak show and your average American no better or worse off than before.

If he wants to annoy the “liberals and progressives”, he needn’t look further than making close relations with China, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Hungary, Turkey, Cuba, Turkey, Venezuela and the like. Not to mention Russia.

What could possibly go wrong?

Will be interesting to see how he builds his cabinet this time and how he handles foreign relations, the Democrats have left plenty of landmines behind.
Was just about to post similar. Vance is a surprisingly great VP pick and gaining the house and senate with those mentioned around him now, I can only see it being a positive in actually getting things done, without the strength of endless resistance and fighting by the Dems.

TBH, even if the Dems repeated their witch hunt to impeach and remove him from office, what Trump has set in place is far bigger than him as an individual now.

as much as i enjoy the meltdowns - and most particularly the exposure of the mainstream media as liars and cheats - i will say there's far too much talk about Trump, and not enough about what's actually significant in this election.

Last time he was in, there was plenty of checks & balances in place.
This time - they've won the house, the senate and Trump. Trump winning isn't in any way a surprise other than to the brainwashed and the liars, the others are more surprising, and unless you're actually a Trump supporter, rather than having a (perfectly reasonable) dislike of the other side, then there is reason for caution amongst the celebration.

Right now, with 3 states still to be counted, Trump has 294 electoral college votes and a total of 71,726,838 (50.9%) and Harris is on 223 and 66,835,673 (47.4%).

Those who would like to claim the 2020 vote was rigged only need to take into account that Maine, Arixona and Nevada still have to come in when looking at the final number, which was

Biden 306 ec and 81,283,501 total (51.3%) to Trump 232 ec and 74,223,975 (46.8%). Turnout was 66.6%.

So, if you want to claim 2020 was rigged, you'll have to wait for the final turnout number and do a population weighting for the two elections.

Hope that helps though of course it won't.

Many seemed geographically and globally challenged. They restricted their experience to home sweet sweet home and mum's apple pie.  I suspect the fact that gasoline was 10 cents cheaper under Trump would be enough to direct the way the lever in the voting booths.

It’s amazing the very people that claimed Trump was an illegitimate President and cried about Russia for four years, suddenly said you can’t rig a US election.

I wonder how Capitol Man is coping?

*mom's 😉

But more honestly and seriously, your two trips to the States probably shouldn't be a basis for such broad strokes.  Even if I agree with part of your general point about what won the election.

Should you as an Englishman (?) or me as a Canadian (but one who has lived for multiple years in all three mentioned countries) be expected to vote for the good of Sierra Leone?  Because at the end of the day we don't.

This is one of the problems with both sides, honestly.

Someone has convinced you this is true and you have consumed it uncritically.

If you want to get to minuatia of his statement there is nothing about her "being shot through the head."  In his hypothetical, she is given a gun and put in a situation where people are shooting at her. Like every young soldier in a combat situation ever.

In his stupid, crass, bombastic way, he was making the age old (I know it from at least the Franco-Prussian War and clearly from our East End ancestors in WWI) argument that those who sent young people to war should experience what it is like.

But you really did lap up a twisted version of what someone told you he said.

Nutsin wrote: 06 Nov 2024, 15:04 Cough to be fair to Coma, he is not the only one, there are plenty of idiots on here that have lapped up the lefts propaganda. In the end the American voters said “fuck you” to the main stream media and Democrat politicians for their constant witch hunt of Trump. Nobody likes a Gov’t that goes after its citizens like Putin. Hopefully it’s a lesson learned.

Truth is the left lost this election just as much as Trump won it with their far left policies, they need to remain more to the middle to stay palatable but they just can’t help themselves. Although “America first” by Trump was a big part of his success. People are not for open borders or globalism. The U K will be next, Expect Farage will be the calling the shots once the current mob get blown out in the next election.

What A great result! Anybody heard from Cappy?

I wonder if the penny has dropped for Pickle yet? Or do you think he will still listen to the MSM lies and propaganda? What is evident is the American public don’t.

Trump will go down as the ultimate underdog and a larger than life historical figure, it was years in the making, all created by a dishonest media and by the lying fuckwits known as the Democrat party.

oh the irony!

MAGA!

Oh look here is Nutsack hero worshipping a convicted criminal again.... well lets hope when he sends the National Guard out to round up the 11 million immigrants (may need fact checking) that have been let over the border under Biden's reign that you are one of them - he doesn't like deviants either so you'll be first up against the wall getting a shoeing ....

Strange too your comment re Putin not sure what point you are making, Putin's apparent involvement in election tampering will hang like a stinking cloud over the last and this election - FBI already saying Russia involved in bomb scares at polling stations in the swing states - hmmmm - No one likes a Gov't that gets to power with Putin's help - maybe that's what the phone calls were all about.... wouldn't be surprised if more alleged vote rigging doesn't come out in due course.

No matter the politics or policies of either party Trump should be nowhere near any position of power with his dubious record and just the number of lies he spouts, threats to his "enemies within" literally talking about Liz Cheney being shot through the head.... and he calls Kamala a fascist - oh the irony - oh yeah you yanks don't get irony!!!! How does anyone square that kind of mindset with such an important position - Oh yeah its America - so its back to the Wild West for you inbreds!

I see the renewables stocks have taken a hammering as he thinks climate change is "fake news" not sure how that aligns with Musk's involvement and Tesla stocks rise - typical yanks probably don't get the correlation between Tesla and Renewables.... I suspect Trump believes in a flat earth too so how does Musk square that one with SpaceX - maybe Trumps gonna cancel the NASA budget or sell it off to the private sector - probably why Musk is happy!!

Anyway I'm looking forward to how he abolishes inflation, gets interest rates down and rebuilds America.... and dodges the next bullet....

You need money and media reach to get just enough votes via electoral models which are questionable ( FPTP etc). And it also means getting very rich donors and corporate backing which in turn means being subject to lobbying for said donors / corporates.  So democracy and the associated process of elections and voting is inherently open to corruption or shall we say influence of those with the power which really means wealth.  But its no worse and probably better than in the past before globalisation, more transparency etc courtesy of T’internet.  On the other hand, the internet, social media now gives a lot more ways to be misinformed 🥴
I agree.

I worked in politics for a bit and there are actual people trying to do good, as they see it, there but the mechanism will either corrupt you or grind you to a near silent standstill.

I thus appreciate people who are loud and open in their views, even if I disagree.  I can judge accordingly. It is why I have appreciated WHO over the years and why I do appreciate the new X.

Musk puts his stupid posts up there for all to see, you can correct him via an open source (follow the trail) note or just plain make fun of him.  Much better than hiding the search results for things you don't like or consider too dangerous for other to consume, for example.

This is a lie.

Of course there have been pro-Hamas demos, in the UK, Canada and the States.

Somebody (not I) could make the argument that Hamas are legitimate representives of the Palestian people, so there are demonstrations to also support the latter.

But it is an Orwellian falsehood, to try to tell people they don't see protesters clearly supporting Hamas.
