US Election, November 5th

Post Sydney_Iron »

And a bit eerily and worryingly Bonfire night!!!! Let's hope it doesn't descend into that though 🤞

Never know an election be in the news so much, all over Aussie TV and expect the worlds TV as well, so many (non Septic's) have an opinion on it as well? WTF

fuck knows who wins, personally don't care as both sides seem like a pack of cunts, so IMHO there will be no winner for the American people, the best we can hope for is that one side wins convincingly and so less chance of it kicking off but i bet whomever wins none of the doomsayers predictions will come to pass in any shape or form, it will just be business as usual and snouts in the trough for those associated with the winning side.

America will still be a freak show and your average American no better or worse off than before.

As much as i think the likes of Bob De Niro are absolute legends when it comes to their acting careers and performances, seems in real life he's a massive twat, he hasn't said much since his beloved Dems lost, if he's got any sense he will keep it that way but it would be a laugh to see the bitter old cսnt verbally attack Trump once more🤣

I don't like people being abused by governments, like Russia fucking up Ukraine and Israel massacring Palestinians and Lebanese. I can't see Trump helping them. Yes, it's possible to ignore it all and get on with your happy little life, but still sad. Truely hope it doesn't encroach on our happy little lives.

If that is your very limited international mandate, you were happy with what Trump did last time then?

Trudeau (leader of a founding NATO ally) just congratulated Trump and said he looked forward to working with him again in building trade and jobs and protecting North America from a world of threats.

"We're going to make sure that this extraordinary friendship and alliance between Canada and the United States continues to be a real benefit to Canadians, but also to people around the world."

I don't really care that much who won but it's funny to see MSM in mourning and talking down Trump and reflecting why Harris lost, and lefty liberal types having a meltdown.

Honestly mate, you are being reductive, I know, but when asked in interviews about his mistakes, he gave a number including what I talked about below.

Harris was asked the same, she moved immediately to Trump.

Double Turkey, getting ready for Thanksgiving?😉

(It's spelled and said Turkiye now, incidently. Surely football fans know this)

I have an honest question for you Pickle, how would your ideal American president function on the world stage?

For instance, you have these international bodies that are meant to bring countries closer and solve problems.  Since we last discussed it,  the ICC have issued an arrest warrant for Putin.  But nothing has come of that.  What should an American president do in that situation?

Also, should Isreal be included on your above list of countries?

riosleftsock wrote: 06 Nov 2024, 19:14   I think Trump is a very different animal this time and is looking to genuinely build a legacy for how he sees a Great America, and its very different to how progressives and liberals see it.

Will be interesting to see how he builds his cabinet this time and how he handles foreign relations, the Democrats have left plenty of landmines behind.

Long point.

I ran for office at very low levels, and ran very basic campaigns at slightly higher levels and worked on a number of other campaigns at decent levels.
It is a bit addictive, throwing yourself into something for a month (more in his case) straight, being "on" all the time and but always getting feedback.  I don't know maybe not for everyone.

Along those lines, Trump's mood in a some of the last campaign stops struck a familar cord with me.  He talked a number of times about regretting these were last few times he would be up there campaigning. He was going to miss the people and doing what he was doing.

Now he lies (he spouts of false things that he believes, reads or hears more often but he does lie) but I dont think he overly good at it, honestly.

To get to the point, with my experience, I don't think he was lying about expecting this to be his last campaign.  He wants to do something big and be done.  Is part of that narcissism? Yes but we are not made of up one trait.  He wants to be remember well, he talked in his acceptance about his being "the greatest political movement ever."  I don't believe that for second but I think that gives a window into what he wants to be known for.

Also, his biggest mistakes, he said was who he picked.  Said they came from lobbyists the first time.  Different set this time.

I guess we will see.  Most problems will be not solved, but no election ever does that.
