Re: Steve Wright
He was also 69 yo so you'd expect his role would wind back Looking at the state of him he also was maybe having difficulty getting through the studio door
Re: Steve Wright
"Why is it these days that I whenever a show comes to an end, someone is being cancelled? He was on the BBC non-stop for more than 40 years. He was one of the highest paid. Every show runs its course eventually. It doesn’t mean the presenter is being cancelled. My dad worked for British Rail for more than 25 years. Was he cancelled when he took redundancy at 63? Was Roy Hodgson cancelled by Crystal Palace? No, time just moves on and people come and people go."

"Iron Duke 1:27 Tue Mar 5 Re: Steve Wright How is it lying if I am asking for confirmation of my perception that he was gradually cancelled by way of saying ""I think""? In any case it seems my perception was correct."

Re: Steve Wright
"I liked his afternoon show as did many others, only reason BBC got rid of it was to shoehorn another presenter in who ticks more boxes. Having listened to Scott Mill's show he sounds like a hospital radio presenter. When Steve Wright was on you you he had that national treasure vibe about him."
Re: Steve Wright
"Iron Duke 1:27 Tue Mar 5 He was treated terribly, is the actual truth. They took him off a prime time daily slot and gave him a 2 hour show, once a week. He was devastated, and many close to him say it contributed to his death. Calling out people for lying when you're ignorant of the facts, is rather pathetic. Think before you type, there's a good boy."

"Heard some good tributes today. Someone said that when you were out and about and heard his show on somewhere it was a comforting feeling, could identify with that."

Very funny top DJ for 40 years. Barry from Watford The Elvis impersonator. Why the BBC cancelled his afternoon show for that useless shirt lifter is beyond me.

"A staple of British culture. You knew he and his show was good because often when it was on you never actually realised. It was there, in the background, just like furniture is. His show always reminds me of my mum god rest her soul) as she loved him."
