I’m not going to talk about the Jets other than to point out that Aaron Rodgers had not completed a pass more than seven yards beyond the line of scrimmage for five straight quarters.

He’s done. Time (and probably “couldn’t give a shit-edness”) has caught up with him. Don’t forget: his pretty much calling his own plays at this point, too. Can’t complete his own plays.

Yet he, and some Jets fans, are talking about him coming back in 2025?!

The guy can’t throw any more. He’s not the reason we’re so utterly shite. But he’s a reflection of it.

It would be possibly the worst game of American football ever played. The NFL might have to stage an intervention in New York and put both sides under special measures! It is a city that, football-wise, has given up!

 

South. Jets all week. You have a legitimate QB.Everyone knows the Giants need a functioning QB. And next year’s draft ain’t going to be deep with top end quality. So it’s a race to the bottom. But it’s the same as always with regards to the teams in New York. You can stink up the Hudson as much as you want. Just as long as you’re not as bad as the other guy.! And at least the Bills can always take your mind off of it.

Haha! I hear you, Shorty. Although I suspect you have not seen Rodgers much since he returned from his Achilles injury. He has been beyond shit. A 40-year-old who suddenly looks state pension age.

In fairness to him, it's hard to tell whether his age means his quality has deserted him, or if he's yet another victim of a terribly coached side. It might be a bit of both. Either way, the fans were asking him to retire after last night's game.

There's an expectation that Woody Johnson will once again become an overseas ambassador under Trump's administration - possibly back to the UK. If so, he'll again hand over control of the Jets to his brother while he does that job. So, incredibly, we might get even worse. This is all a Kafkaesque nightmare!

Meanwhile, the QB that the Jets should have drafted back in 2018 - and then should have picked up in free agency when he left the Browns/Rams - is still doing some mad shit.

If you haven't seen Baker Mayfield's 4th down pass, holding off Nick Bosa while under pressure to throw, then it's worth a watch.

He'll never be an elite level QB, Baker. But the guy has a pair of bollocks and a "fuck you" attitude. He would have been a perfect fit in New York. Horses for courses, innit?

Also, I looked at the league standings this morning and saw that several sides have worse records than the Jets: The Fish, Raiders, Giants, Jaguars, Browns, Titans.

I can't even begin to imagine how bad those sides must be, because - genuinely - the current Jets are the worst-coached side I have seen since the Rich Kotite era. Like they were the love child of Avram Grant and Glenn Roeder. That bad.

Incredible performance by the Jets so far today.

Rodgers moving freely, throwing accurately and playing for the team.

The o-line physically dominating in the trenches, creating huge gaps for those powerful backs.

Brilliant defensive play-calling by the interim head coach, making a mockery of Saleh’s departure.

Fans totally behind this high-performing, humble, hard working team who would break their own bones for eachoth…oh…hang on…

…nope…the drugs have worn off…the unicorns have faded away…

turns out I got it on too heavy after the Everton game and…yep you guessed it…the Jets are still a devastating shitshow…heading for 3-7 by being a complete clusterfuck…

joe, the steelers had half the stadium, possibly more. it was shocking but maybe the tickets were sold months ago pre draft? steelers are decent, but we made so many errors and kingsbury has a flaw in his play calling where he gives up on the run game against the so called better teams. we're still doing great but that was thrown away today

Yeah, I get it IoC. Although I do think he's a consistent force when you can get him on the field. It's probably his past injuries - and the Saints' salary cap issues - that meant Washington picked him up for a decent 'price'.

How are you going to replace him? He's not irreplaceable, but you'll need a top talent to come in as CB1. Might that be where they look in the draft? Tough one for the Saints, because the cap problems mean you'll have to rely on a higher percentage (than normal) of younger players for a while. But I guess the good thing is you can go straight into a serious and wide-ranging rebuild with the draft picks.

I don't know, overall, its always been riding the cap to stay competitive for a bunch of years.  Totally new coach, that probably change some how. Things look awful for next year as they always do but maybe we just go with what we got instead of the masterful kicking the can down the road.

Longterm at at least, cornerback is not the worst position though.  Alontae Taylor who was playing the nickel is okay, Adebo is done for the season but is actually a better ballhawk than Lattimore. Kool-Aid is coming along.  More worried about other bits on the defence, at least after this season.

Four pro bowls in five years seems pretty consistent to me. Especially when you look at the yardage he (generally doesn't) give up even in the seasons since that run. He's a steal for those picks - providing he doesn't see the Commanders as the start of him easing down. I get that most CBs have bad days. Those that don't - like Revis - are few and far between.

I have loved Lattimore,  most of the time.
My opinion comes from watching him every week for the last 2 years.  (Mostly highlights and the odd game when I was in England before that.)
Consistent is not the word I would use, amazing a lot of the time, would be the phrase. 

But he has been in the league 7 years before this one.  Not 5 .  So he has been a Pro Bowler in about half time. That's not consistent.  You can say injuries held him back but that another mark against consistency for me. 

He is one of the best in the league when on, but he is not always there or on.
