NFL (since 2016)

"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

So, the Jets were founded in 1959 and have had 14 seasons in which they qualified for the playoffs (and they have played 25 playoff games). The Jaguars, a much younger franchise founded in 1995, have been to the playoffs 8 times (and played 16 playoff games).

On average, the Jaguars get to the playoffs every 3.75 seasons.
The Jets get to the playoffs every 4.64 seasons.

That's how shit we have become. And the stats have been skewed even more recently, because we haven't been to the playoffs for 14 years!

Thankfully, Detroit were abysmal for a very long time. They're 90 years old - one of the oldest franchises - and have had just 19 playoff years. So they're even worse than the Jets and get to the playoffs every 4.74 years. Although that will change when they qualify for the playoffs this year. The Jets' record will be worse at that point.

I would argue (probably with bias) that having a Super Bowl, even if it was the third one, puts the Jets on slightly better footing that say the Jaguars, who have never been to one.

Consider that your lot won a championshiop since the Toronto Maple Leafs did.  (bwahahaha - inside Western Canada joke).
All true, IoC.

Although, embarrassingly, the Jets are almost 40 years older than the Jaguars - so we've had a LOT longer to win stuff (and mostly failed miserably). We do have Broadway Joe's SB to show for it, though, and nobody can take it away from us!

Bullocks to that load of old shit. The Giants finally bench Jones. Who needs the Playoffs and the Super Bowl. It’s the Combine and Draft that matter.!

Go G Men.

Can one of the mods change the name of this thread to 'NFL (shit since 1922)'?

Thanks in advance.

Watched all our games, the best team we've played is the Steelers. Eagles are extremely strong defensively, and carried the other way by Barklay but like the Cowboys their stumbling block will be the quarterback. That's also where I also see the Lions come up short, Goff always has that nightmare game in him

Yeah, the Lions, Vikes and Packers are looking good. The least said about Chicago the better! I feel their pain: that's a great city and it deserves a decent NFL side. It has been a while, though.

I’m not going to talk about the Jets other than to point out that Aaron Rodgers had not completed a pass more than seven yards beyond the line of scrimmage for five straight quarters.

He’s done. Time (and probably “couldn’t give a shit-edness”) has caught up with him. Don’t forget: his pretty much calling his own plays at this point, too. Can’t complete his own plays.

Yet he, and some Jets fans, are talking about him coming back in 2025?!

The guy can’t throw any more. He’s not the reason we’re so utterly shite. But he’s a reflection of it.

Detroit are on fire. Would like to see them get to the Super Bowl.

Well I very much enjoyed that, been a good while since we’ve beat the whiners.

Defence was really good, and if the offence hadn’t made so many dumb decisions we could easily have walked that game.

Not great,  but still good enough. Rare off night for Jake Elliott.  Rolling nicely since bye week and the Rams next week is our last real journey of the regular season.

Still a little unconvincing and not sure how we will fare against the very best,  but loaded with weapons so we always have a chance, and the d has been a very pleasant surprise under fangio.

Oooof, stupid decision by the Commanders there to go for it on 4th & 1 when in FG range (which would have given them the lead) - but fucked it up and naturally the Eagles then drive straight up the other end and score

Damn right!

I hate the whole MAGA shite.

But if there’s a global campaign to improve the Jets so that, one day, we might win a game…then I’m in!

The Vikings had 400 yards of offence and no TDs. FMOB

Lions though, scary.
