It was better because it couldn't really be worse, but still a poor second half from both sides. Arsenal took their foot off the pedal and we just looked clueless going forward to try and make a game of it.

On the day, they were streets ahead because we look and have an ageing team for this league. Even Emerson is 30.  Soucek, Fab, Emerson, Antonio, and 33 year old Ings a sub.  Some of these players are not up to it physically and in the case of Soucek, Antonio they lack the technique too.  Arsenal gave us no time on the ball and we just could not keep it. When they had it we had no legs to effectively press them.   We were statues in comparison at times with for example Emerson and others failing to track Saka on their best goal, Antonio not able to keep with Gabriel on their first and although harsh 2 pens from being a fraction late with tackles / punch that a ref like Taylor will always give.

Still 4 better players short of a team that can give the best, quick teams a game and 7 or 8 better players to create a squad capable of competing at the top end of the league.  The coach Loppy is trying to get us to play more progressively with it but Arsenal and the better teams show we dont really have the players for it.

Best player for us was Wan Bassaka by a mile.  Soler was ok, as was Todibo ( 5s out of 10 ) but the rest were struggling to compete with Arsenal.

The games coming up are about trying to see if we can compete more at our level which is currently mid table at best.

New coach?  I would go for Allegri simply because he will abandon trying to get ahead of ourselves and fit a system to the players he has or at least he has proved he can implement different tactical systems ( according to Wiki ) :-)

Why benchmark ourselves against Arsenal? Makes
no sense.
no one expected us to get anything out of this one.

yes we have old players, but the other side to that is experience over just raw energy. I don’t think it’s worth changing coach because we get spanked by arsenal. If we get spanked by Leicester , wolves etc. then by all means. But not Arsenal.

I actually enjoyed the game because normally when we ship 5 goals we look like abject shit. We didn’t this time. That’s some level of progress surely?

Didn’t look like abject shit? What game did you watch?
it was a blessing arsenal decided to treat the 2nd half as a training session.

Someone should have told Newcastle & Bournemouth not to bother trying to beat arsenal.

I’m not sure if we were dreadful or they were brilliant for periods of that first half, probably a bit of both. One things for sure we gifted them 3 goals with 2 pens and a defensive howler, their 2nd was pretty soft as well. Such a shame we conceded the 2nd pen when we did as they looked rattled at that point. Wan Bissaka is our best player at the moment and both our goals were very good, but that’s about it. They gave us the chance to attack in the second half and we had nothing in the locker. Overall that was pretty depressing really.

The players clearly aren't playing for lopetegui. We've spent close on £500m In the last 3 summer transfer windows  . Yet we're getting worse . Surely even an imbecile like Sullivan must know we need a top class manager.

Redknapp asked Timber about the nudge on Paqueta. He answered that it feels like an assist. It’s a foul, as simple as that. A push in the back when someone is jumping is a foul no matter how soft the nudge. Refs need to wisen up to it if even a div like Jamie Redknapp is spotting it. He refers to it as “doing a little job on him”.

Clearly Taylor has someone telling him it was a penalty. It wasn’t anything like it. Timber made the same foul on that corner btw.

Doesn’t detract from the shit performance and this manager needing to go, but fucking hell, it’s difficult when decisions are so abject.

Maybe we need to be better at dark arts. That said, I reckon we get neither of those decisions go our way.

You have to admit they are better than us, but fuck me they cheat like the fuck and the ref falls for it.

1st goal Paqueta is pushed so he can't head it
Sakha penalty he dives like a bitch
The Fab punch penalty, fab barely touches him, arsenal players appeal and the ref then gives it.

And fuck me do they roll around the pitch and ive etc.

Fucking horrible team and fuck Declan!

Taylor was very poor but anyone suggesting we'd have given them more of a game with a decent ref isvclutching at the thinest of straws. We were fucking diabolical, in fact 5-2 flattered us. Does anyone seriously think that had they needed to, Arsenal could have scored a couple more with ease? Absolute shitshow but sadly, I don't see any major changes coming our way any time soon.

Well! Wasn't that fucking awful?
Fucking Taylor never gave us a single decision but we should expect that, the northern twat never does. I also see that fucking clown Bobby Madley has been reinstated after taking the piss out of a retarded bloke. Awful state of refereeing in this league, you'd have though that Mike Dean retiring would have improved things but its the same old same old.

I’m taking the positives from this one which most people saw as a free hit anyway.

we hit 2 back against a very good side after going 4 down. Which shows a lot of character. Something I haven’t seen in us for a long time.

we seem to be able to play out from the back without looking scared shitless. That’s a plus compared to last season where we just gave the ball back to teams all day.

We have a midfield now. Not world beating but enough to trouble some teams going forward.

A lot of the match was more about arsenals set piece ability, saka and odergard, and the fucking ref!
which tells a slightly different story than 5-2 does

I’m hoping this is a bit like the game when tevez was here and we lost to spurs (?) but went on a run and stayed up. It’s a bad result but I’m seeing an improved team who look like they know what they’re doing more and more. Add Kudus in the mix and someone in jan and I think the team is going places.

just my humble opinion!

Yep.  No accountability.   The only ones that suffer are the fans that continue to put up with it.

I'd love the team to come out to an empty stadium.
