Recommend 5 movies to Binge watch (back to back) at some point over the Christmas period.

For me, in no particular order:

1. It's a Wonderful Life (pure nostalgia from when life seemed so much simpler),
2. The Shop Around the Corner (see above),
3. Miracle on 34th Street (See above),
4. Trading Places (enjoy this one at any time of the year, really),
5. Die Hard (the first one).

Probably loads more, but those are the first 5 that spring to mind.

Foe me, the best version, is David Lean's 1948 version starring Robert Newton as Bill Sikes and Alec Guiness as Fagin, not forgetting a brilliant performance by Bill Sikes dog, Bullseye.

Going to see Gremlins at the fancy cinema in St Albans.

However, “trading places” is THE Christmas film.

Apart from those already mentioned I have to say the Santa Clause Trilogy was decent fun as was The Christmas Chronicles.  For some reason I always watch Where Eagles Dare at Christmas, must be all the snow, and The Poseidon Adventure (original) at New Year.  My top watch though, even though it's set at Thanksgiving is Planes, Trains and Automobiles so that along with Die Hard, Scrooged and Christmas Vacation would be my top four.

None of these are Christmas movies but always seemed to be on the TV at that time (pre internet) so for me they are Christmassy 

Wouldn't be Christmas without the Wizard of Oz? Not that i would really want to watch it again but remember it was always on as a kid.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was also a staple for many years, so thats 2 

Got to have an OF&H special as well, The Jolly Boys Outing would be my pick.

Home alone, the original the other versions are shit!

Guns of Navarone, absolute classic.

 

Home Alone 2 Lost in New York was great too. It was 3 and 4 that were shit.

Not sure why but around 10 years ago I started to take an interest to watch Christmas films, prior to that never had much interest, I've pretty much seen all of them now. To add to your list.
