Who do you want to be our next manager?
I know it’s hard to nominate when any decision would be made by the utter pillock Sullivan but …
I’d like to see us take a chance on a young English manager like Michael Carrick

I see Max Allergri name being trotted out in dispatches. He wants £8 million per season.! I hope that's transfer budget. And not wages. Because our Glorious Leader ain't entertaining that.

"Yeah, but ten Hag won the league in Dutchland."
Yes, and so did Steve McClaren - and with a much smaller club. So?

Re: Who do you want to be our next manager?
And not Eric Ten Fucking Hag.
That guy was the biggest joke in the Premier League until Lopetegui came along.
His dismissal from Man Utd was as inevitable as J-Lo's from us. Anybody who seriously thinks that 4ft 3" Martinez can play centre-half in a back four - in the fast, muscular Premier League - is off his tits. That bloke gets hurled around like the prison ragdoll.

Re: Who do you want to be our next manager?
I want to say "I don't mind", as I try to get behind any manager/the team.
But after the last 18 months of Moyes (who otherwise did a good job) and the shitshow appointment of Lopetegui, who is simply a terrible fit for this club and out of his depth, I absolutely DO mind.
I'd just like to see Sullivan stop his ludicrous, cheap approach to appointing managers - and go out and appoint a top-class choice who may even be under contract somewhere else. Show some ambition, even if it is the appointment of a young, up-and-coming manager who we can get behind for a few seasons (but safe in the knowledge that it is somebody with some talent and a high potential ceiling).
I've said before that Carrick at Middlesbrough is genuinely promising and has managed that club well on a tight budget and fewer resources than many sides in the Championship (Gibson stopped throwing money at Boro some time ago).
But there are many good managers out there - all over Europe. Probably several better than Carrick etc (I like him, but I'm not wedded to him!). We just have to show some ambition for once and identify a prime target and then go out and get them. Not scratch around the bargain bins at Asda to see who's available to take training the next day.
But after this shitshow with Lopetegui, there are a few lessons that the club needs to learn. Any new manager probably needs to already speak a decent standard of English - whatever his accent. Lopetegui has admitted that he's struggling to communicate his needlessly complicated tactics with the players at key times during matches. We can't afford for that to happen. Sides will kill you in the Premier League if they find a weakness quickly, and you need to make swift decisions on the fly. You can't wait until the end of games, in the dressing room, to get your point across via an interpreter and several hours of charades.
Secondly, we - and more importantly the players - need a manager with some passion. Somebody who genuinely looks, sounds and acts like a leader. And not your dad's dreary mate on a reluctant Sunday trip to B&Q. I'd quite like our manager to be the sort of bloke who might actually inspire his players, rather than fall out with them too quickly.
Thirdly, and related, a forward-thinking manager who doesn't needlessly complicate things, and who wants to get us on the front foot. Somebody who wants to play a brand of football that we will actually get out of bed to go and watch. Doesn't have to win every game, but somebody who gets us playing some football that most of us couldn't play (shouldn't be that hard!) and gets the team leaving everything on the pitch: win or lose.

I'm not convinced by Potter. I think that's a dangerous appointment. I like the cut of Terzic's jib but I'd have Nate Shelley at the moment and he's a fictional character.

Just get rid.
People bang on about playing with a false number 9, so why don't we set up with a false manager?

Doesn't really matter, as the role of the manager is overrated. At least according to Sullivan.
how many are we on now?

Re: Who do you want to be our next manager?
Pretty much echo what most others say, and again, all things considered, I think Potter looks the best option for us right now. Terzic (sp) and the Porto bloke seem like gambles IMO. Needs to be a vacancy first though.
Re: Who do you want to be our next manager?
Must confess as said below I wasn't a big fan of Potter as his sides struggled to score goals, but after hearing him speak last night I would take him to be fair. Spoke well, has a point to prove and I could understand him!
What did make me laugh was when Nolan made a valid point that Bowen was creating chances last night from the right and he was surprised that JL switched him into the middle which had no effect and then switched him back late on. I though a bit like last season when Moyes kept doing it then Kev!

Re: Who do you want to be our next manager?
I'm not a huge Potter fan as his teams historically struggle to score goals, but he is at least able to adapt his style to the squad typically, is progressive and seems an intelligent guy, and having been bitten by Chelsea will have a point to prove.
He'd be mental to take our gig, but at this point Potter seems the best of what's available. A genuine 'coach', not afraid to play young players, and someone who seems keen to keep learning. Plus he needs his next job to go well, so it would matter to him.
Conceicao seems popular because he's more of the exotic, was a flair player as a player and has some charisma. But he's very much more Mourinho than he is Amorim, looks to create a siege-like underdog mentality, and by the end of his time at Porto the fans there were saying the same as we said about Moyes: No youth, dire football, left them in a mess, and run his course.
Terzic...concern with him is he doesn't need the job. How much would he really commit to it? I think he'd fit our squad and the football wasn't nearly as bad as the comments from his last days in charge would have you believe...he set up to press in some games, and play counter attack in others. But if not Potter, I'd favour him over Conceicao.
No doubt Sullivan will consider it all, then appoint Southgate. But it sounds like the attitude to Potter is softening, so who knows.

Carrick
Although at this particular moment in time I would probably settle for the Cowley's.

Re: Who do you want to be our next manager?
Going to need someone who can work with the squad we have which lacks pace and athleticism. Makes playing the possession game much harder ( as Loppy is finding out with his high line and wing backs) especially since a few of our squad are not the best technically either ( Antonio, Coufal, Soucek even Ings struggles with his first touch)
Eventually after further recruitment and bringing a yoof or two thru we might be able to play like some of the better teams ( press, at speed, lots of movement ) but at this stage we need a coach who is not tied to just one tactical approach. Not too many of them about ?
only my opinion

Re: Who do you want to be our next manager?
Not sure if it’s true but someone said Potter has only recently received the last of his Chelsea payoff
Would probably be a mitigation deal where the payments would stop if he took another job
Was reputedly on £10m a year

on his contract there
Mentioned I wouldn’t mind Carrick but Potter would be fine
Could save money on translators at press conferences
