Press it better to make sure it works now rather than press it when you really need it and find it doesn't work. I've got a Skoda the poxy thing used to ping up on the dash every time I was on the M25 and mess up the nav system. The only way of getting the nav system back on was to press the SOS button until a call was made then cancel it.

Suspect he will get a few media offers so no need to give him a contract.

Story popped up on my news feed that club are considering extending  his contract as a good will gesture.

Glqd he survived obviously, but The cսnt's not exactly been on minimum wage.  £90bags a week.  Don't think he'll starve having been on that sort of wage for years.

But yeah, take concessions away from hard working supporters.

Who called the Emergency Services? Wasnt the bloke who found him, he heard the sirens. Wasnt Antonio, he was disorientated.

Just google Automatic Emergency Call, eCall SOS or similar

His car/his watch/his phone could all have called without his knowledge or human action. Nothing to see here

He would not be 'thrown clear' either way - the impact was driver's side, so all the force of the event would've held him in that side of the car.

Not necessarily. Weird things happen in accidents. If he'd lost control of the vehicle and gone into a high speed 360 clockwise spin then it is possible for him (or at least his upper body) to have been thrown towards the passenger side before the impact, which could then also have been more of a side swipe.

All conjecture, I know, but we're not necessarily looking at a straightforward head on collision
The weirdest accident I remember was when I was driving in the countryside in Oxfordshire near the Rollright Stones. We saw a car in a field upside down.

I got out and went over to the car. The engine was still running. I looked into the car expecting to see something gruesome but there was no one there. I checked the back seats and footwell too. The field was very open and as it was winter nothing was growing so easy to check if anyone had been thrown clear. Couldn't see what could have caused the accident and the car was almost 50 metres from the road which was very straight so no bends.

We phoned the police but left before they arrived so don't know if they ever solved it.

People often undo the seat belt AFTER the event - he maybe thought (as you do in the immediate aftermath, before you realise shit has happened) that he would just climb out of the car.
He would not be 'thrown clear' either way - the impact was driver's side, so all the force of the event would've held him in that side of the car.
Official account says he was alone in the vehicle.
Even if he HAD had someone else with him, he couldn't have swapped seats, as he was trapped in the driver's side by his legs and it took almost an hour to cut him free.
All the indications are it was an accident, pure and simple. The road is tree lined, many are quite close to the carriageway. It would only take half a second's lack of concentration to be in amongst them, or if you were tired / oversteered / fell asleep / trying to avoid a collision with another vehicle etc - all the usual culprits.
Let's hope he comes through it okay - it's tough to imagine we might never see him turn out for us again.

Scored in the last game I went to at UP against Spurs, so that was nice.

Given a lot for this club over the years and will be remembered fondly if he’s played his last game for us.

It's the measure of a man when something awful like this happens. It seems no one has a bad word to say about the fella, which is testament to how likeable a bloke he must be in real life.

Let's hope he fully recovers to be able to walk again unaided and unimpaired.

Nice one, I saw on FB fans from other clubs saying similar. Just so glad he made it, I couldn't imagine had the worst materialised.

wils wrote: 09 Dec 2024, 08:38 Is the car such a mess because we are seeing photos of it after the fire brigade cut through it to release him? Might be a bit misleading that photo.

All the damage seems to be on the right (driver's) side, so if the theory/rumour that he hit a tree has any credence, the car must have drifted across the carriageway for some reason....

...unless, of course, there was somebody else driving who is/was subject to a D-notice and therefore their presence at the scene cannot be reported.....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣...love a good conspiracy, me....not that that is a good one, mind you.
